Man convicted of sexually abusing children his girlfriend babysat

VISTA, Calif. — "A Carlsbad man who molested several young girls his girlfriend babysat was convicted of 35 felonies Friday, including kidnapping, sexual assault, burglary and conspiracy."

"Jurors deliberated for just two hours before finding Samuel Cabrera Jr., 25, guilty of molesting four young girls between 2014 and 2016 and videotaping his assaults. He faces life imprisonment when he is sentenced Jan. 7."

"His girlfriend, Brittney Mae Lyon, 26, also faces life imprisonment on the same charges for allegedly molesting the girls and videotaping Cabrera doing so, but will be tried separately. Her trial date is set for later this month..."

Brittney Mae Lyon is suppose to go on trial later this month. Here's some details that made me hope she is put away to lead her perverted life in prison. Imagine if she babysat for your child or grandchild.

The mother of one of the victims testified that her daughter is on the autism spectrum and was nonverbal at the time of the molestations, when the victim was 6 and 7 years old. Lyon would watch the girl at the victim’s house during the week, while the girl’s older brothers were home.

"However, on occasional weekends, Lyon would take the girl on her own for excursions she was not paid for and were unrelated to babysitting. Lyon allegedly told the mother that these outings would help her with a research paper she was writing as part of her degree, which she allegedly said was related to child development."

She took this nonverbal child on special outings without pay claiming it was for school research.

"The mother testified that she was aware Lyon had a boyfriend, but had never met him and never consented to have him participate in any activities with her daughter."

But wait, there's more.

"Another woman testified that she hired Lyon to babysit her 3 1/2-year-old daughter on two separate occasions. After the second occasion, the girl informed her mother that Lyon had brought her boyfriend over to the house, and that the defendants had changed her underwear, the mother testified."

Brittney Mae Lyon has many, many disgusting charges including
Sex Offender of a Special Needs Child and other Children under the age of 10 yrs. old.

I can't imagine why she hasn't been sentenced yet. She's still in the Vista Detention Facility, date booked 7/6/2016... four years ago... are you kidding me? She has a really long list of offenses. Next Court Date says 7/22/2020, but it's doubtful with Covid-19 still surging.

Cabrera was sentenced in 2021 to multiple life terms in connection to the molestation, but Lyon’s trial has not even started.

Carlsbad man receives multiple life terms for molesting young girls

A Carlsbad man who molested several young girls his girlfriend babysat has been sentenced to multiple terms of life imprisonment.

Samuel Cabrera Jr., 28, was convicted two years ago by a Vista jury of 35 felonies, including multiple counts involving child molestation, kidnapping, burglary and conspiracy, for molesting young girls between 2014 and 2016 and videotaping the assaults.

He was sentenced Monday to eight life-without-parole terms, plus 295 years to life, plus nine years and four months in prison, according to the San Diego County District Attorney's Office.

His girlfriend, Brittney Mae Lyon, 28, also faces life imprisonment on the same charges for allegedly molesting the girls and videotaping Cabrera doing so, but will be tried separately.​

Brittney Lyon's partner in crime got 8 Life Sentences. Initially, Cabrera and Lyon were only charged on the basis of two of the victims. However, after police publicly disseminated and processed information regarding their arrests, charges were added regarding two other girls. Brittney's job was to bring the little children, placed in her care, to him so they could both molest those children. He's been convicted. Now it's finally time for her to be convicted and to get an equal sentence. I have no idea why she has not had a trial and conviction in the eight years since the crimes.

(Coincidently, I recognize Lyon's attorney / a public defender, Sloan Ostbye, as being the defense attorney for one of the defendants in another local case, the Brittany Dawn Killgore murder trial that took place in 2015. Defendant got LWOP.)

MOO here-- Imagine the parents of the children waiting all this time for it to go to trial. Sure, the boyfriend has already been convicted, but it all started with Brittney's actions. Her disgusting willingness to procure children finally needs to be addressed harshly in the courtroom. As it stands now, the trial for Brittney Mae Lyon will start January 21, 2025.

Curious Me - Thank you for sticking with this heinous case that has dragged on and on. This hurts my heart for these families who have been stuck without justice for their babies for 8 years. This is a crime on top of a crime. Hopefully this POC BL will get the same punishment as SC or more; and never walk free again. As the one who lied to parents so she could bring their children to be abused I wish there was further punishment that she could be sentenced to. Maybe her choice of some Az loaf or bologna on white bread, 3 meals per day?

And thank you, @abyquinn, for following these two horrendous cases and caring about the children and families that suffer from the acts of these two despicable, depraved individuals. I don't know how or why Lyons has been allowed to stay in a jail and avoid prison life for the past 8 yrs. when the victims & families wait for Justice through all these court proceeding changes. I've recorded all the trial date changes here, and IMO, shame on the whole of the legal system up in Vista for allowing such a waste of time and money to prosecute this.
