I know this is a really old post I’m responding to, but here is a current Google image of 717 Sutter St. and it does appear to be 6 stories. There was speculation she could have fallen/jumped from the roof to get the height reported as 7 levels.

The subject had apparently jumped or fallen seven stories and landed in front of 717 Sutter Street.

The way that’s worded, to me, leaves open the possibility that she didn’t actually jump/was pushed/fell from the building at 717 Sutter, she just “landed in front of it”.

On mobile atm so can’t dig too much, but maybe there’s a neighboring building 7 stories or higher? (Always possible LE just got it wrong, too.)

Most likely LE got it completely right. IMO she got up
onto 717 Sutter St roof, went down the front fire escape,
couldn't get into one of the (probably locked) windows
facing the fire escape and tried to open/climb through
the front facing windows off the fire escape and fell from
one of those levels to her eventual death. None of the
residents knew who she was or wouldn't admit to knowing
her. Was she a casual resident? or a non-resident who
knew of the people (druggies?)in one of the apartments
and hoped to find drugs in there? or someone who knew no-one at the apartments and simply failed at an attempt
at cat burglary?
