CA-Sandra Cantu Missing 3/28/2009 from Tracy,#2

To me - what is missing for a backpack are the straps that would show up on her shirt?

I'm just having a hard time understanding why LE would lie about that ya know... It would serve no purpose that I can see. They stated they had their high tech guys work on the video to see if she was carrying a purse/backpack and they said no.

Where the heck was she going all by herself? Isn't her house in the opposite direction??

I'm thinking it only has one strap and it's over her right arm. The last seconds of the video you see her right hand reach up towards her shoulder and slide down as though she's securing the strap, much like a woman would her purse. JMHO of course.

It does look as if she might have a strap over one of her shoulders.

Yea I noticed that. I watched it several times again, just that point of the video and she is stroking her hair. Like following her hair all the way down. Watch it with that in mind and tell me what u think.

I think her hair is really long and what looks like a backpack is her hair and the shadow of her hair as it bounces around. If you look at those great pics from momtective, you'll notice that her long shadow shows no evidence of a backpack.

This really has me thinking; what if someone is trying to get back at them for trapping cats and taking them to the pound? Taking a child?

While I am strongly opposed to his actions (I'd just put food out for the strays and let them live in peace at the MH park!), I doubt any animal lovers would be taking out their dislike of what he does on an innocent child. MOO

Here is what I see... tell me what you think. I do not know if you can cast 2 shadows at once and when I look online all I can find is stuff about some game and a book called two shadows. Also my mom does not know and that is nuts cuz she knows everything! I call her my moogle (google haha).

I'm pretty sure that you can cast multiple shadows...but usually only if there is more than one light source. So...if there was an outside light on her its possible. But usually pretty hard for that to happen in the daylight / in the sun.

Looking at her shadow at 0:13, there doesn't appear to be a backpack. Anyone else think so?

ETA: at 0:09, I think the dark "thing" on her side looks more like a little purse, and at 0:12, she appears to have her hand on the shoulder strap.

You can make this link go full size. I have watched about 5 times in the last few minutes looking at the things everyone is talking about. I think the shadows on the front of her shirt are actually from her hair, because the shadows appear to "move" as Sandra moves, across the front of the shirt.

I don't see the backpack and I can't see the strap. I see her putting her hair behind her ear. I do agree that her arm is crooked like she has a purse/backpack near the very end, but I'm wondering if this is not just a "stop-frame" as she was moving her arm? Does that make sense?

Yes, and she supposedly went missing around 3 or 4. I was wondering why the shadow was so long, too.

In the presser this morning, the Detective would not talk about the timing of the video. We have been led to believe it was about 4:00 p.m. - but now I'm wondering if someone asked about the length of the shadow and that is when the Det. refused to talk about it?

Also - I agree that the shadow is her hair.

Nora - no background checks required. Carnivals attract some of the lowest of the low - drug addicts, alcoholics, con men/women - you name it! Now - not all carnies are bad, but definitely some are.

In fact, there was a case several years ago down here in Orange County at the Costa Mesa fairgrounds where a carny molested a little girl as she rode alone in the haunted house ride. Very strange subculture, these carnivals and it can get dangerous.

Yeah, that doesn't click for me. Maybe I can remember to go outside and see what my shadow does at that time tomorrow.

I would think if it's a backpack we would see the shadow of the backpack sticking out on the right - where her body shadow is on the ground. I'm still open to the possibility of a backpack, but maybe a smaller one? When my girls were young they had "play" backpack that held small items - they weren't what you see around the schools today. Some even came with little dolls and stuff inside, and one was printed to look like a castle and had two turrets on each end (although my daughter wore it upside down and called it her "rocket"). Also, there are animal shaped backpacks which can be really bizarre in the shape and size. Just something to think about if you think it's a backpack but it doesn't fit your idea of what one should look like.

It does look like straps on the front of her shirt - which seem to move, but that could be her arm. That movement at the end caught me the first time I saw it because I do it to my purse all the time. But like someone said, it could be just her moving her arm.

There are good arguments on both sides, but I'm still undecided on this one. I do appreciate all the pictures posted. You guys have done an AWESOME job!! I watched the video several times but it was really getting to me so I had to stop for a while. She was just so carefree, loving life.
