CA CA - Sandra McCarty, 8-months & Whisper Owen, 36, Endangered Advisory, silver 2006 Chev Trailblazer, last seen N Glenn & E Yale, Fresno, 15 Jul 2025

What if she took a different route? One suggested option makes it 3-4 hours instead, and she may have had to make stops to feed/clean Sandra? Whisper also didn't have a phone and possibly no car gps, would she know to take a faster option?

If she did make a detour, why? Visiting friends? Shopping? no intention of speaking ill about her but maybe visited a lover, drug dealer, etc?
As others have pointed out, when she drove down for the appointment. She left at 4:00 AM, so she drove in the dark on the way down. I wish we knew what route she took then.

KCRA 3 Investigates confirmed with the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office that Owen has an outstanding warrant tied to a 2020 child abuse case.

The District Attorney's office said Owen pleaded no contest to felony child abuse in 2021 and was ordered to complete a work project, which she never did, leading to the issuance of the warrant.

My theory on completing a class is something related was correct.

What is a work project? Is it a parenting program or course? I tried googling and couldn't find an answer
We have no idea what the charges were for, but the felony level indicates it was something serious. In pleading guilty, one of the requirements is to attend and complete a one year program. All the penal code sources I found state the same requirements, see example at link below.

Long day. Perhaps overly tired during the drive home?

Hoping Whisper and Sandra are found safe , this does not look good.
Maybe she went to hide out at a shelter but I think LE would've let the public or at least her family know she is safe ?
My .02 is probably a car accident somewhere and that's so sad.
Imo.

I wonder if Sandra was seen on the surveillance- does anyone remember

I agree. That always seemed likely and by now if she's still driving around there are two more considerations - one is that she would have been picked up by a license plate reader and two is that the owner of vehicle should have filed a stolen vehicle report in order to get attention on the vehicle. LE are a lot better at finding missing vehicles than missing people. IMO

The Atwater siting said Whisper was seen changing Sandra's diaper, so I assume so?

Could you please provide a link to this info? Was it mentioned in the KCRA video you linked?

And a link to this press release as well please? I searched but did not find it, I don't question it, just wondering where to see the official release.

According to this article (but for some reason I thought it was shared that she didn’t have a working phone but I guess I was wrong):

Her brother was told her phone last pinged in Oakdale. Less than 80 miles away from her home in Sacramento.

The phone pinged at 10 PM in Oakdale and then turned off again..? So it was charged and then turned off? Lost service?

This case is very confusing. First we’re told Whisper didn’t have a working cell phone. Now we’re hearing about cell pings way over in Oakdale and well after dark?

Really not sure what to think anymore, but none of this extreme avoidance makes any sense whatsoever. Seems like you’re far more apt to be pulled over on two lane backroads for a missing headlight, than on the 99. Plus if she would have went that way, she’d have been home by dark.

Make it make sense …

Thank you, you’re always amazing.

None of that imo matches a warrant related to child neglect charges, maybe the sealed case which would make sense to be sealed.

IMO it’s important because it sounds like from that article police believe she may be absconding but her mother disagrees.

In regard to neglect related to Covid the only thing I can think of is treatment refusal but it’s unlikely she was able to keep her kids and still be facing a neglect warrant. The 2 don’t seem to go hand in hand. Actually none of it really does so I just feel there’s more to whatever grandmother is saying about the warrant
Prehaps refusing to log on to online classroom for children out of school due to lockdown??

So many things about this case do not make any sense to me.
  1. Taking an 8-month-old to a doctor 2 1/2 hours from your home. Granted, she has family in Fresno, but that's a 5-hour round trip with an 8-month-old. Surely, there are pediatricians in the Elk Grove area.
  2. Not having a working cell phone when going on a long car trip.
  3. Her mom said she left her house at 5 PM, but a surveillance camera catches her two blocks away an hour later.
  4. Another surveillance camera catches her 60 miles away in Atwater, which should be an hour drive away, and she's in town at a smoke shop, not just off the freeway.
  5. She's driving a car with a damaged left front headlight, but does not appear to be in a hurry to arrive home before dark.
Her mom said she had a $600 food stamp card on her. I wonder if that can be tracked. Apart from that, I'm not even going to guess what happened to them, but again, I hope they are safe somewhere. JMHO

Could she have just kept her family doctor
