CA CA - Santa Rosa Hitchhiker Murders, 7 girls/young women, 1972-1973

Just noting, I'm not sure where to post this, but I can't help but be kinda struck by a resemblance here. Going to paste in some images I'm guessing were reconstructions they were doing before Kerry Graham and Francine Trimble were IDd:

And here's the real Kerry Graham and Francine Trimble:

Could one of these girls be this girl from the Alcala images?

I don’t know how much Joseph Naso has been considered in the SR hitchhikers cases. This article explains that he was in living in Piedmont CA in the 1970s; and other sources say he and his wife lived there are early as 1965. Piedmont is a 1 hour drive from Santa Rosa. According to the article, “In her closing statement Wednesday, Slote told the jury Naso "targeted" prostitutes and at least one transient female because he knew they were willing to get into strangers' cars.” We know that this willingness to get into strangers cars is likely a commonality shared with the hitchhikers victims too. "Lost Coast Highway", a recently published book by Gray George, is an excellent source for info on the Santa Rosa hitchhiker murders. Although the book is primarily about Kerry Graham and Francine Trimble disappearing in 1978, there is a lot of info about the murdered hitchhikers due to similarities in the crimes. There is also an interesting chapter on characteristics of serial killers.

I highly recommend this book.
If anyone can locate a copy of it. . . or the author. I got a zero on both, sadly.

It's out of print! This has been driving me nuts 🤪
So sorry! I didn’t look at the link carefully enough. I wonder if a library would have it, but I suppose you’ve tried.

I’m being a bit petty about the title of this book implying that the Lost Coast is anywhere near where the bodies were found. Kerry and Francine were found off Highway 20 west of Willits which ends in Fort Bragg on the coast. Highway 1 goes north from there until it heads inland to merge with Highway 101 at Leggett, since no highway could be built north of there along the Lost Coast. So there is no Lost Coast highway.

The Lost Coast is mostly in Humboldt County and can only be hiked, not driven. I used to live in Southern Humboldt county and the Lost Coast is absolutely gorgeous, if you ever have a chance to go there. End of travelogue. 😊

Highway 20 west of Willits

But that doesn’t make for an eye catching title like ‘Lost Coast Highway”. :)

@CaliforniaScheminPod I bought a copy awhile back, used, so watch that space, or check out abebooks.com. If you’re in California, likely a library has a copy.

You’re right, of course. But ever mind that it’s a true crime book. 😄

I'm in Northern California (Sacramento) and I have a card at 5 different libraries in the area. “No dice” as my Dad used to say 🤷‍♀️ I did sign up for an alert on Abebooks.com for a copy, they get one about once a year 😳 I also have alerts on other used sites. I also tried to Google the author - nothing. No former reporter, etc. He appeared on a podcast in 2017 regarding “Lost Coast Highway” and I messaged the podcaster, still no response. It’s the weirdest thing!
