Let them argue it out. The guy murdered, dismembered, and dumped a young woman's body in the trash - there is enough to put him away.

Yes, but just to clarify she wasn't dismembered;

"Although some media outlets reported the woman was dismembered, said Manuel Del Toro, acting lieutenant for the San Diego Police Department's homicide unit, the woman's body was fully intact. The cause of death remain unknown, he said."

Man to face life in prison if convicted in suitcase murder, prosecutor says

http://fox5sandiego.com/2017/04/06/man-to-face-life-in-prison-if-convicted-in-suitcase-murder-prosecutor-says/

Prosecutors said Thursday they will not seek the death penalty against a man accused of strangling a female acquaintance after watching her have sex with two other people, then stuffing her body into a suitcase and putting it out with the trash.

Joshua Matthew Palmer, 33, will face life in prison without parole if convicted of murder and special circumstance allegations of murder during a rape, murder during sodomy and murder during a rape by an instrument in the death of 21-year-old Shauna Haynes.

Trial is scheduled Aug. 21 in the courtroom of Judge Joan Weber.

Oh please, spare me his sob story. Don't ask me to feel sorry for him now. I mean, I remember all too well that he killed young Shauna and threw her in the trash. That's not love.

Deputy Public Defender Katie Belisle told the jury that Palmer and Haynes met at the Spaghetti Factory downtown and he fell in love with her.

Despite his small, one-room hotel room, Haynes wanted to move in with the defendant, Belisle said.

Belisle said Palmer was "humiliated" when Haynes said, "He can't get it up," as she had sex with the other man.

The lawyer said Palmer felt rejected.

"Josh felt trapped," said Belisle. "There's not another room to escape to. He felt that all he could do is stand there and watch as the girl he brought home, and the girl he was in love with, had sex with a random man on his bed in his room. He was heartbroken."

The door to outside was broken, huh? Had to stay in the one room while she had sex with someone else? Couldn't leave? So killed her and put her in a suitcase and tossed her out with the trash? Oh. Makes sense. Time to drop the charges and move on, I guess.

Some people amaze me with the stories they think actually make the situation sound better.........

Warning - GRAPHIC.

Attorney: Man Who Stuffed Dead Co-Worker into Suitcase Was Sexually Humiliated
https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/Joshua-Palmer-Shauna-Haynes-479169943.html

Seeing a woman he desired have sex with another man pushed a San Diego man to beat, rape, sodomize and strangle the woman to death, prosecutors told jurors Monday.

Defense attorney should try writing fiction. So, was it "love" or just one sick dude?

Belisle told jurors her client was humiliated.

"He was heartbroken," Belisle said. "All he could do was stand there and watch."

Jurors were warned they would be shown a video with evidence of necrophilia as part of the case.

"After she was dead, [Palmer] videotaped himself playing with [Haynes] in unimaginable ways on his cell phone,” Deputy District Attorney Martin Doyle said in his opening statement.

Video Reminder says, "The details of this case are rather disturbing."
I think jurors might have to watch video he took of what he did to her after she was deceased.

Former coworkers say they wanted different things. Palmer expressed he wanted a sexual relationship while Haines was not interested.

According to Palmer, the night before her body was found she was inside his apartment and they were doing cocaine.

The medical examiner took the stand Tuesday and said he found no evidence of drugs or alcohol in her system.

I doubt the Defense can say anything to overcome what the Prosecution has to say in this case. I feel horrified, and so sorry for all her Family, Co-Workers, and Friends.

Opening statements begin for man who allegedly killed co-worker, stuffed body in a suitcase
April 9, 2018
http://www.kusi.com/opening-stateme...-killed-co-worker-stuffed-body-in-a-suitcase/

In his opening statement, Deputy District Attorney Martin Doyle alleged that Joshua Matthew Palmer videotaped himself doing “unspeakable things” to Shauna Haynes’ body after he killed her at the Chadwick Hotel in San Diego on April 5, 2016.

Proud?!!
The prosecutor said Palmer went out later on April 5, 2016, telling friends how proud he was of the “foursome” he was in earlier.

Doyle said Palmer threw all of Haynes’ belongings away and his DNA was found on her private areas.

Palmer lied to police after the crime, but it was “impossible to cover up,” the prosecutor alleged.

I hear various different local news channel reports throughout the day and night, and try to share it here. I just heard that Joshua Palmer's mother has been there and cried in the courtroom. It sounds like his mother is taking this very hard. It's really very disturbing for anyone to hear the details of this case, but, yikes, imagine being his mother.

WATCH THIS NEWS VIDEO of him in the interrogation room.

'I Didn't Do It. I Loved Her': Joshua Palmer Calls Mom From SDPD HQ
https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/Palmer-Trial-Day-Two.html

...jurors listened to a lengthy videotaped interrogation by a San Diego Police detective.

At one point, Palmer was given a phone and left alone. He called his mother, but the call went to voicemail and Palmer left a message.

“I swear on my life I didn’t do it. The evidence points towards me because she was found 15 feet from my door,” said Palmer. “Not only have I lost the woman that I loved but I’m about to lose my freedom and go to jail for murder. I didn’t do it. I didn’t do it. I loved her. I love her. I am scared.”

Palmer’s mother was in court as the video was played and bowed her head, crying.
After the court adjourned for a lunch break, Palmer’s mother was seen hugging the victim's family.

More interrogation video here.

Wednesday morning, the detective read a text Palmer sent Haynes after he allegedly killed her – perhaps as a way to hide his crime. It read:

“I don't know what you think happened, but I didn't touch you inappropriately. I moved you around. I tried to snuggle, but you didn't respond, so I moved you over. I need you in my life. I wouldn't take a chance of losing you by touching you. I didn't take any pictures. I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable. You're my kid sister. I love you. ”
