So....no foul play...surprised as generally that story is one we have heard a million times from spouses. Was she found at the base of a ravine like she may have fallen? Drunken accident? Suicide?

How awful. Her husband must be devastated.

I can think of a few times when I was in my twenties doing stupid things like this. For example, fighting in the car with a bf and demanding he pull over, and then walking home, thinking "I'll show him!" Ugh. Thanking God as I type that nothing bad ever happened.

If this is her - How awful for her husband if, in fact, she really did storm off after they argued - and ended up getting lost/falling down a ravine. Ugh.

There have been many times in my 20s when I used to storm off, jump out of the car at night, etc,, when arguing with my boyfriend...usually alcohol was involved...it's a miracle I made it out safe out of some of those situations..

I have friends (normal, professional people) who tell me they fight with their significant other and one will get out of the car and 'walk home' to cool off. It's crazy to me but these and honestly normal people who obviously handle anger differently than many of us.

According to the first post, they had just come from a Whiskey Flats Festival. I wonder if they had been drinking at the festival? Maybe he decided to sleep it off in the car after she left and figured she would come back? This is so tragic but I'm actually relieved it wasn't another domestic homicide case.

Kern County Sheriff's Office investigators said Wingle was last seen Friday night when she and her husband stopped about three miles east of Highway 178 on Old Kern Canyon Road. Authorities said the couple experienced car trouble and their vehicle ended up in a ditch.


According to the family's GoFundMe account, Shayla Wingle's body was found by Search and Rescue personnel along the Kern River, east of the initial search area.


As of 4:30 p.m. Monday, the Kern County Coroner's Office had not officially identified Wingle.


Anyone with information is asked to call the KCSO at 861-3110.

Woman whose body was found in Kern River Canyon died from hypothermia, drug intoxication, coroner says

A Bakersfield woman whose body was found in the Kern River Canyon about a week after she went missing in mid-February died from hypothermia and exposure and her death was an accident, according to a coroner's release.

Contributing causes in the death of Shayla Marie Wingle, 39, included methamphetamine and other drug intoxication, the release said.
