Some sources say KP first "reunited" with SP at the hospital; others say he first met up with her at the intersection release site, where he was so fast getting there that he even "beat the sheriffs" (according to his father's recounting). Other sources state that he first met up with SP at the release site--after CHP but before the sheriffs arrived on scene.

Now, creatively merge these accounts or simply take your pick. None of us could effectively argue one way or another...

It's an at least 2-hour drive from Redding to Yolo. Even if Keith had access to an airplane, that would also take some time to accomplish setting up. No way he could have met her at the discovery site.

(He perhaps beat the Shasta County Sheriff's people down there, but the Yolo County Sheriff's people would certainly have been on site).

Anyone think she'll do a TV network interview?

It could have been very important for KP to speak to SP before sheriff's deputies arrived.

Why wouldn't KP speed down to get to his wife? My husband would most likely break every traffic law to find me, if I had been missing for three weeks. I don't find anything suspicious about him getting there first. What would you do?

Most of the pictures of the children were shared on the missing posters and websites. One likely reason for their inclusion was to try to elicit sympathy from the perpetrators of the abduction.

As to the photos of the children released by KP's father on or about Thanksgiving day to the Daily Mail it could possibly have been a generous gesture by him on a day of great elation without much forethought.

As to who knew what and when on the morning of Sherri's release, has anyone explored that KP may not have been alone on his trip to the hospital and it was not his responsibility to contact SP's parents?

perhaps not his "responsibility" to let her parents know she had been found? Can you expound?

The only time I have a problem with GFMs is when the people setting it up are clear POIs or suspects or are closely affiliated with them or estranged from the victims.

If my spouse was missing for three weeks, I would not be able to work during that time. And neither would family members I would likely rely on to help me financially in a situation like that.

Then there are expanded related to a search like flyers and huge signs and freeway sign and private detectives.

And I wouldn't be able to go back tom work too quickly either. This is a lot to get through.

And I imagine there would be a lot of therapy and time away from home recovering as well which can be costly.

I'm always surprised how suspicious these crowd funding things make people at a time like this. Unless there's some kind of fraud involved I don't begrudge families use of such funds in these cases.

I did not say I'm suspicious of fraud!

$15,000 a week is a lot of money, and the family is well off, per their words.

So I wondered. That is all.

I was going to comment about that too. She was 120 miles away right? And found at 4:30 am.

Could this be a hate crime?

How do you mean? Two Hispanic women cruising around for any old white person to beat up for three weeks, just because they hate white people so much? :waitasec:

Hi, another Noob checking in.

It was a really wonderful surprise to learn of SP's release. I'm sure like a lot of people, I thought this was yet another tragic crime of opportunity that would end with a corpse being found.

As for all of the unusual elements, I think there was some contact between the kidnappers and the family or LE or the reverse ransom folks. Either a ransom was paid, or, more likely imo, the kidnappers got spooked about the pickup arrangements. Getting dumped out of a moving vehicle was the captors giving up on the scheme and cutting their losses. Not every criminal is capable of killing a mother of young children in cold blood, thankfully.

I kind of feel sorry for SP and anyone else in this type of situation who goes missing (for whatever reason, be it an abduction or by choice), and suddenly they are thrust into the national/International limelight in a way they probably did not anticipate or even want.

Then, because a rapt and 'hungry' public want to know every.last.detail.and.it.better.be.good.or.there.will.be.hell.to.pay, the person who is back with their family has to deal with every manner of intrusion, with thousands of people delving into any and all parts of their life, speculating up the wazoo, researching them and anyone they know on the Interwebs, turning them into entertainment/rumor/fodder du jour. There's something that feels sad and wrong about that to me.

I realize the public wants their victim to be a certain way and doesn't take kindly to a scenario that doesn't follow the prescribed journey, but this is not "the balloon boy" hoax. Whatever happened to SP is really none of anyone's business outside of LE and the people directly involved/impacted by her disappearance.

IF there is something to be worried about, LE will put out a warning for the area; otherwise, it's carry on and continue to use good common sense as you go about your business.

So why does it matter to anything is she was previously married? Did she lie about it? TIA

I understand your point, but generosity shouldn't outweigh the children's safety after such a tragic ordeal, more so with a kidnapper still on the loose. JMHO

You always have a good logical perspective to throw into a thread, BUT you have to admit- you're just as curious as we are or you wouldn't be here. :)

Love your insight though...

I thought it was only brought up to consider her ex as being involved in her disappearance. Not that we could sleuth him - just knowing he was out there.

In regards to the statement that she appeared to be heavily battered when found, it would be very interesting to know if all of the wounds were fresh/recent, or if any were already healing/older wounds.

Latest news account about the female witness who called 911 after passing SP on the highway with her 14-yr old in the car. Her account differs slightly from the CHP account ('heavily battered'), though it's likely true that she did not get a close look, either:

After seeing Papini standing on the side of the freeway in the dark with no jacket despite the cold weather, and waving her shirt 'like a flag,' Sutton drove to the nearest road sign to pinpoint her location and called 911.
'She didn't look like she was hurt, but she did look scared,' Sutton told the paper. 'It was just luck that I saw her at all.'

I'd like to hear the 911 tapes of this witness's phone call; as far as I can tell those have not yet been released.

I'm still in the camp believing this was an abduction, rather than a hoax. My belief is based on what we've seen and been told so far, and is subject to change if other information is revealed. I will confess that if I were to start firmly onto the hoax path with no particular evidence, and it turns out that it really is an abduction, I'm going to feel terrible. So I will stay put and risk being wrong...again (I was sure Sherri had been murdered).

I do agree that this case is very strange, but I just don't see hoax in the actions of anyone that we've seen so far. I would really be straining to reach that conclusion, personally.

At this point, I don't think Sherri was abducted at random. I just don't see someone happening upon her near that intersection and deciding to take her for some reason. I do think (without any indicators I can point to) that the abduction was related to something Sherri or someone in her inner circle has said or done in the past or present. I doubt they ever intended to kill her, but rather to inflict pain on her and her family (physical and/or emotional), either for revenge or to teach a lesson. Once they felt that sufficient damage had been done and/or the amount of publicity and reward could uncover them, they released her.

As usual, this is JMO and I am prepared to be wrong. It won't be the first time or the last. :D

If I were LE? Get there first and speak to the victim before and apart from others.
