I can't see how she would get female DNA on her actual body. But I agree- what reason would they have to release that she had male DNA on her clothes? No need to release that.

The first thought I had when reading that LE had found others' DNA on SP was that they hoped to spook whomever was involved. IMO LE might well have been simply telegraphing - we have your DNA on file & will be waiting.

I hope that means they are going to do further testing of the DNA found and put it through the system to see if it matches anyone.
The samples were uploaded into the CODIS DNA database in April or May, says Jackson, but there have thus far been no matches to known offenders. The DNA from Sherri’s husband, Keith, was not among the two profiles, authorities said.

It was submitted to the FBI - my post 688 above.

My big question about the DNA is how did two women abduct her but only one woman's DNA show up?
The male DNA could have come from so many sources

If DNA is so easily transfered, how did the other woman not leave any?

I'm going to have to go take a shower after all the discussion about DNA and thinking about how it got there. It makes me feel kind of icky.

Why do I hear JAWs music when I read here now about that blog post? :D
I thought discussing it was off-limits for multiple reasons, including asserting that it was never proven it was SP who wrote it.

So.......I'll pass on replying to that directly, but will say this- SP has never spoken directly to the public since her return. She at first told LE she couldn't remember anything about the abduction, right?

Logically, it's possible to argue that SP may not have had felt she had full control over the narrative that was told later to LE. Just saying .

What part of her body was swabbed? What would make sense for them to swab in this case?

Right. The reason to release that info, imo, is to prompt SP to explain how it got there.

She doesn't seem to have taken the bait.

Did he really use Find my iPhone or was it Find Friends? My husband, oldest daughter and I all share location with each other in the Find Friends app. I will occasionally use it to see where my husband is because he doesn’t read or send texts while driving. I can see if he’s 5 or 30 minutes from home. If either of them were not answering calls, I’d absolutely use that because it’s nothing more than opening an app. I don’t entirely understand how Find my iPhone works but I know it’s more in depth than the Find Friends app and I do believe you have to be at the computer with iTunes open.

This is what I was wondering as well. There are other apps you can have that you don't need to be on a computer to check. I can pick up my phone right now and make sure my daughter where she's supposed to be - at school. That's through an app, not find my iPhone.

The blog post has been mentioned via other mainstream outlets on multiple occasions. We should be able to discuss what mainstream media has reported. And like it or not, the blog has SP's name on it. It also has striking similarities to her abduction story, so it is worthy of discussion. You may say that it hasn't been proven she wrote it. That's true, but it hasn't been proven that she didn't write it. Since her name is on it, maybe the onus should be on her to prove otherwise.

Kind of ironic, isn't it, that something in 2003 was submitted in her name as truthful and she disputes it as a hoax. 13 years later, something happens that she says is truthful but many others dispute it as a hoax.

Please read or re-read the Opening Post by Tricia which states in part:

That's pretty clear, so it leaves out speculative discussion or hypotheticals about possible abortions, affairs, or skinheadz lookalikes.

Also, WS does not allow religious discussions, so unless there are MSM or law enforcement sources to substantiate what you are claiming, don't claim it.

If you come across new posts (or some others that I've missed in the cleanup) that violate TOS or the thread specific paramaters set out in Tricia's opening post, please use the Alert feature to let us know.

Thread is open again for posting.

Just a :bump: right about here.

Quoting this again because I just realized what you are getting at, Hippiemom.

Yes, if you were trying to find your own phone you would need another device which you could log onto your account. Not necessarily a computer though. If i lose my iPhone I use my iPad to find it and I can those to find my Macbook (we like Apple lol) too so it's not really clear what KP was using. Unless it was just his own phone logged into her account.
I am not sure if it was ever stated that he used "Find my iPhone". It is possible that he could have used the Find a Phone service that the cell phone carrier provides - ATT has (or had) such a service. However, that would mean that at some point before Sherri's disappearance that it was activated. This is because the way it works is a message is sent by the carrier to the phone that will or could be tracked and the recipient has to accept it. This process has to be done monthly.

He said it on the 911 call.

Papini: Yeah, um, so I just got home from work, and my wife wasn’t there, which is unusual, and my kids should’ve been there now from like day care, so I was like, “Oh, maybe she went on a walk.” Um, I couldn’t find her so I called the day care to see what time she picked up the kids. The kids were never picked up. So I got freaked out so I hit like the Find My iPhone app thing, and it said that — it showed her phone at like the end of our driveway, we don’t have really good service …

Unless they both shared an iTunes / iCloud account. Not that that would be ideal.

My kids have their own apple id's but they have their find my phones set up with mine, so when I login i can see all the devices whereabouts, they also have my account hooked to the app store as I trust them not to charge anything to it without asking. It just keeps things simple. They use their own Apple Id's for imessage and facetime and that stuff. I don't get their notifications and they don't get mine, I also have a second one on my ipad that i use for cloud storage that the kids don't access yet the find my phone and store are hooked to my shared one. So, I wouldn't say it isn't "ideal" it actually works pretty well, esp if you share banking info or credit cards. JMO

I wonder how the cell phone reception was in the area the phone was found. If it was a rural area there might not be strong enough of a single to effectively use find my iphone

The blog post did hit MSM, so I presume that we can at least discuss in general terms.

In the 911 call KP says specifically that he used the "Find My iPhone app thing".

What part of her body was swabbed? What would make sense for them to swab in this case?

I would think that they would have done a rape kit on her when she was being processed at the hospital, they also would have likely taken fingernail clippings and swabs of any blood or fluids anywhere on her body. Despite the fact she has said that there was no sexual assault, it doesn't mean they wouldn't have checked, unless she refused that testing being done, I would definitely think it to be standard.

That said, when I escaped years ago and was in the hospital despite the fact that it was the victims unit in a private area and room I didn't feel that I had much choice in getting the rape kit done. I had been SA, but they checked me from head to toe, photographed every mark, bruise, scar on my body, measured it etc, including in doing the rape kit. It was degrading and while they were really professional and my mom was in there with me it just felt like it was part of the procedure and had to be done, not that I had the option of saying no... I wonder now if I had said no, if they would have told me without it that they wouldnt be able to prosecute etc and have talked me into it? Hmm

With SP, if she didn't want it made public that she had been sexually assaulted, would they deny it? I can't recall if it was only KP who had said she was NOT sexually assaulted or if LE also said it. One would think they wouldn't disrespect a victim who had been by announcing it to the world, but I don't know how their statements work in court.

Well, it's my opinion that it wouldn't be ideal. For me. But that's only because I don't need to have others linked to my find my iPhone.

Could the male DNA have been found on her clothing as well?

ETA: From this article: http://people.com/crime/sherri-papini-dna-male-alleged-abduction/

“The male DNA was compiled from the clothing Sherri was found wearing,” Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Brian Jackson tells PEOPLE. Jackson says the female DNA sample was taken from Papini’s body at the hospital."

"The samples were uploaded into the CODIS DNA database in April or May, says Jackson, but there have thus far been no matches to known offenders. The DNA from Sherri’s husband, Keith, was not among the two profiles, authorities said."

"Jackson says Papini’s alleged female abductors gave her clothing to wear so it was possible “that the clothing that was provided to Sherri are clothes that belonged to somebody who was an acquaintance of the captors, and hopefully down the road, once we get these females identified, we will get the answers for that.”
