My guess is that police have a specific suspect(s) and may have had the info going back to before she was even found. Whether or not it relates to the "Hispanic women" - who knows. If they truly had no idea who took her, I can't help but think they'd be working hard to get details out to the public including info about how she was able to get away, especially if it could potentially lead to info about where she was held (was it a long drive from where they had her to where they dropped her off?).

How weird. If they were letting her go, why would they restrict her movement? Why would they care how far or where she ran? They obviously wanted her to be found or they would've let her off in the middle of nowhere. Not chained to something right near a road.
I don't get that.
It makes me think her abductors were quite familiar with the area.
I have no idea what she was chained to, but if it was something that was on the side of the road how would they find it in the dark? (Unless it was a road sign or something )
They chose a place where they knew there were no cameras.
Hopefully a passerby noticed the vehicle there at some point before her release.
Do many people in that area have dash cams in their cars?

I'm interested in how Sherri seemed when she was found. Quoting from this article: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...ssing-calif-mom-waving-road-article-1.2887530

------
Alison Sutton, 43, said she was driving north on Interstate 5 near County Road 17 in unincorporated Yolo early Thursday when she glimpsed a clearly distressed blond woman in her headlights off to the right.

"When I saw her, it really startled me. She was really close to the road, like almost out in traffic," she told the Daily News.

"She had some piece of fabric in her hands and was waving it up and down. I'm thinking it was a shirt. She was waving it like a flag," she said.

"The woman I saw had long blonde hair and was not appropriately dressed for as cold as it was. She didn't have a jacket," she explained.

"She didn't look like she was hurt, but she did look scared. It was just the feeling that I got. It was just a really brief moment, and I was driving at freeway speed. It was dark. It was just luck that I saw her at all," she said.

"The way she was waving the fabric seemed frantic," Sutton recalled. "I realized if she was that close to getting hit — willing to be that close to freeway traffic — she must really need help."

[...]

Sutton said she couldn't tell if Papini was wearing any restraints when she saw her.

From the link: "It was not clear if Papini knew the women she said abducted her, police said."

Odd.

It seems a bit odd that two female strangers would kidnap a female jogger; hold her for three weeks, give her a beat- down, and dump her on the side of the roadway. This to me, seems gang related.

That is odd. My voice memory recall is very good, even with people from my childhood.

I'm surprised that they didn't cut her hair off in order to further batter and torture her.

Possible sighting 11-22 (Tues) in Anderson, CA "Travel Center" (gas station) Anderson, CA is not far (20 mi?) from Mountain Gate. Just putting it out there. She was discovered Thurs 11-24.

Anderson, CA is also directly off the I-5, the same as Redding, Mountain Gate, and the Yolo county location where she was discovered.

I found it from the comments section (I know, the comments!) of this article, which the text of Sheila Koester's Press Conference yesterday, 11/25. http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2016...held-by-sherri-papinis-sister-sheila-koester/

An initiation? Huh. Anyone here ever hear of anything like that? 3 weeks is a long time ...

And do we know if ransom money was exchanged? Or does anyone think it was?

They didn't? I was wondering about that .....

Is that Facebook policy? Might have helped having further knowledge of the case desseminated, to further chances of solving.

No, I don't believe so. If I understood correctly, there was an announcement from the page administrator that the HFSP Facebook page would be closing. IMHO there was a lot of speculation - some of it quite ugly - from commenters. I would imagine that it's a lot of work to delete the posts and now that Sherri is safe, the folks running the page would rather focus their attention elsewhere. Just my opinion.

LE should be able to backtrack to see if any cameras on that road or other leading roads towards it to maybe check any cameras that could have picked up vehicles driving toward the area in certain time frame.

LE may get lucky and spot her in a vehicle if a camera takes a good enough picture of vehicles.

In the nearest town there may be cameras that may have spotted the vehicle too.

How ever she got dropped off there it seems there would have to be a camera somewhere that may have picked up the vehicle with her in it.

Its a long shot but worth the effort to see if LE may get lucky.

Probably in the minority here, but yes I think ransom money was exchanged. That being said, this is a strange case. :moo: :silenced:

Always thought Denise Huskins' kidnapping was a strange case too and she, in fact, was kidnapped too. Truth is, as they say, stranger than fiction.

I saw that too. Can anyone find a better link? I got a gut feeling when I read it the first time that it might have been her.
That being said, "most" Travel Centers have cameras everywhere!

<modsnip>

It was a CHP who relayed to sheriff deputy that she was chained to something. I transcribed the audio file last night and heard it myself.

Why did the sister do a q and a just to say no comment or I don't know to 20 questions.

It seems like she wanted to be in the spotlight.

Reporter: I know you mentioned she was back with Keith…has she been reunited with the kids yet?

Sheila: That's not a question that I have an answer to at this time.

Reporter: How is she doing physically? We understand that she had some injuries.

Sheila: She's very excited to be home. So that's all that I can say at this time.

Reporter: You said that social media played a role in possibly Her release. How did that play a role in the case?

Sheila: I don't have any details into the case. I just know that getting her face out there was the best thing that anyone could do.

Reporter: Where were you and when did you learn of the good news?

Sheila: I heard on Thanksgiving morning that she was found.

Reporter: Did ransom play a role?

Sheila: I don't have any details of the case that's going on at the moment.

Reporter: Have you seen her, and if so, could you describe the reunion, what that was like?

Sheila: I've seen her and it was a very joyous reunion and we were just very very excited to see one another.

Reporter: Have you been able to talk to the people that she flagged down on Thanksgiving morning? Did she or you, anybody have a message for them?

Sheila: I know that we're just very excited that somebody was able to come in contact with her. And we appreciate all the help that everyone has given.

Reporter: What is your hope, there are, according to her, two women out there, what is your hope? Do you hope we catch them? They are considered dangerous, I imagine.

Sheila: I don't know any details of any part of the investigation that's going on and I'm just concerned with the healing of my sister.

Reporter: Has she said anything about anything that she went through those 22 days that she was missing?

Sheila: We were just joyous to see one another.

Reporter: It happened so close to her home. Is she there, or is she afraid to be in that area right now?

Sheila: That was not a conversation that we had.

Reporter: I know that she was a dedicated mother. Was she employed in some other fashion? And second, that, as a family have you have you been discussing who may have had a motive to do something like this?

Sheila: That would be a question I would ask Shasta County sheriff's office.

Reporter: Was she employed?

Sheila: I don't have an answer to that question.

Reporter: What is she doing today? What's her day like today?

Sheila: I know…I don't know what she's doing at this time. I know that she's with Keith and that they're being reunited.

Reporter: When will she return home?

Sheila: I don't know where they are at this time.

Reporter: And she hasn't been reunited with her children yet?

Sheila: I know she's been reunited with Keith.

Reporter: What have the last three weeks been like for you and your family?

Sheila: It's been a range of emotions and sadness, anger…right now it's just joy — lots and lots of joy that she's here with us.

Reporter: Do Her children understand that she's back home?

Sheila: I can't answer that question. I don't know.

I want to thank everyone for coming.

I've seen numerous posts about Sherri not being kept overnight in the hospital. I'm not sure if people realize that hospitals don't just admit a patient because something bad happened. It certainly is possible that she had been beaten, and the hospital didn't need to keep her. If her vital signs were stable, they would send her home. Even if she had a concussion, it wouldn't necessarily mean a hospital stay.

It's one of two things as I see it. Either the 'abductors' are known to the family and they released her to avoid being arrested based on the family 'reward' scenario (which is unlikey to end well for them anyway). Or, someone decided she was too 'hot' to keep around and the woman who let her go decided at the last minute not to kill her and dumped her on the road. If its the second case, SP is very dangerous to them now alive. If it is trafficking, I can't see them letting her go alive

Hmm. I just remembered the twine by a rock that was mentioned in the police logs. Trying to find that to see exactly what/where it was, but not having much luck. Was it close to where she was abducted?
