Ugh, please stop passing judgement on this poor girl and her parents based on her social networking profiles!

I was a teen in the Bay Area once and to be perfectly blunt (no pun intended!), drug references and f-words were just as prevalent among high schoolers 15 years ago. We just didn't have tumblr and Twitter accounts! Morally corrupt? Maybe, but I think I turned out okay. It is hard to explain, but you grow up a little faster in the Bay Area.

Quite frankly, I think the most telling things from these accounts are the suicide references. JMO

Not passing judgement on her...but I do not know of any teen girl who has references to drugs, sex, etc. on their sites, and I've known quite a few thru my 5 nieces and no words to songs with the infamous "N" word, either. My issue is more with the type of young people she may be associated with or known to. They may be of a somewhat rougher crowd, JMO. The "wrong crowd" could somehow put her in more danger than someone else might be, for instance. Again, JMO.

Her Mom last saw her for sure at 6 AM Friday morning. In an article backthread the neighbor that usually sees her walking to school "closer to 7 AM" (paraphrased by my memory) didn't see her friday. But did see her walking home on Thursday afternoon.

Does anyone else live in the home with Sierra and Mom? TIA (there are 2 young ladies missing by this first name I want to make sure I'm not confusing them).

I think she has a sister that is older, IIRC. The most recent photo of Sierra was taken on her cell by the sister the morning before she went missing. So her sister would have been around at least the previous day.

But there was a tweet by Sierra talking about her sister and Sacto State college. So maybe she lives at school usually. She wouldn't still be in high school or Sierra wouldn't have to take the buys everyday.

Mom's BF still lives there? Where was he Friday morning? (Not accusing just ticking off people that are cleared and such...usual activity here on WS :))

Good question. We have not heard anything about him yet. And if mom left for work at 6 am, then chances are he might still be home at that time. He might leave earlier, but I am curious about that.

The dogs lost her scent at the end of the driveway. That makes me feel like she was picked up right there at home.

In ALL the tweeting she did he NEVER mentioned mom's boyfriend...

Unfortunately, my 15-year old stepdaughter, who lives on Long Island in NY, is one of those teens who has references to drugs, marijuana, and sex on her facebook page. She also posts the lyrics to some pretty dark songs that talk a lot about relationships, relationships gone bad, obsessive love and suicide.

My stepdaughter has tried to kill herself by talking pills. She also has been cutting herself since 6th grade. She is one of those girls who is hanging out with the wrong crowd and is also someone you'd call "the wrong crowd".

Moving to Morgan Hill from Fremont must have been a huge change for her... I wonder if she was having trouble dealing with that. Also it seems like her dad must live nearby since he was making her a hair appt so I wonder if he lived in Fremont area too. It's about a 45 min to one hour drive but a huge change in terms of environment. Morgan Hill is pretty much the boonies whereas Fremont is more urban/suburban.

I don't think it's wrong to say that those tweets from a 15 yr. old girl are disgusting! Not just a few bad words here and there....they were vulgar. If a parent decides to allow a 15 yr. old to have a facebook acct,, twitter, etc. then for gosh sakes check what they are saying and to whom!! It's not that difficult. If mom or dad had seen those tweets and found nothing wrong, then this little girl was not being parented. How many times do we have to hear of young girls meeting predators online before parents wake up?? I pray she is safe and her parents will be given another chance to teach their little girl what is acceptable and what isn't. :twocents:

I've not read Sierra's thread in its entirety yet but your post caught my eye. FWIW in my experience cutting or other methods of self-harm are usually a coping mechanism. For me it was all about control. A link should you need it:

Sending out special prayers for your family and daughter.

I am nervous that her phone was found. Without the phone being found I thought she might have run away for a few days. Would she really willingly throw away her expensive nice smartphone? I am afraid something more serious happened. Or, I guess maybe she really does want to disappear and knows the phone could track her.
I am hoping it is the latter, of course.

Her parents said they are desperate for any news. Sierra's mother gave NBC Bay Area a cell phone photo she said Sierra took the morning before she disappeared.

Being so close to her sister Danielle, who is home for spring break from Sacramento State University, Marlene said she was looking forward to her sister’s homecoming.

Agreed. I find it shocking, to say the least. Very concerning. I think it's a strong possibility that she was stalked either in person or online. She's gorgeous, and very risqué. MOO

I agree. My two youngest grew up in the Bay Area & I too feel they grew up faster than if they had grown up where we're at now. They are 18 & 19 now & they are great kids!
