Right up top of my information wish list is whether Sierra had worn the folded clothes and that is one fact known from the lab analysis. Another piece of information we don't have is a description of the pants. "Some personal items" were mentioned a couple of times but that could refer to the bra and underpants.

Whatever came of the tests, LE doesn't feel it is necessary to announce the results publicly. I hope therein lies the answer of a resolution.

Well mom offering up the information that SL didn't take the charger or the inhaler and she always does, leads me to think mom didn't realize what she was releasing. The only way this would be "off" is if the crime started at the home. We don't know if LE has any evidence that things were not right at the home, inside or out. If SL let someone in, and that person took charge over her in a second, there may not be a sign of a struggle. Or the person straighted up before they left with her. Remember she has her purse and books but not the inhaler or charger. Like I said, this person may not have known to take those items, but thought to grab the books and purse to buy time if need be. I still feel that what they found, was left for them to find. We are not finding her for a reason; it will lead right back to him or her.

AND re these shoes, we haven't been told what she was wearing down to include her shoes because LE stated they don't know what she was wearing recently.

However, Mother keeps a sock to smell to comfort her?????? Maybe one sock was left on the bed/floor and she is keeping this as a memento of her daughter...but to smell it!!!!! really odd action IMO....

My step daughter had a number of shoes and I wouldn't be able to tell you if any of them were missing. I own under 10 pairs of shoes, boots, or tennies and my husband wouldn't know if any were missing. Why, because we buy them when they aren't around, they don't see the purchase. I'll bet SL bought stuff and mom had no clue she owned it, (cloths and shoes). I remember someone said she like a pair of red shoes, but they were at home and then we heard gray shoes were the ones she left in. So who knows, she may not have left with shoes on.

Oriah or sarx are the experts and I hope they chime in.

Dogs are not infallible and neither are their handlers. It's possible that the dogs were wrong.

However, assuming that the dogs were accurate, then yes--if Sierra came home Thursday evening and never left the house alive, the dogs would search around the house, looking for her living scent.

Dogs naturally track from oldest to newest scent (survival trait; wolves that tended to track the wrong way probably didn't eat all that often). So if a dog couldn't find a fresher scent going out the door than could be found inside the house, the dog wouldn't go out.

Considering that they've used dogs that are cross trained for human remains detection and there wasn't any hit inside the house, it's unlikely that Sierra died inside the house.

And while there was that weird Japanese case where a woman lived in a man's apartment for a year without his knowledge, it seems unlikely to me that Sierra could pull off the same stunt in this case.

I really think the most likely scenario is that Sierra did leave the house alive and her scent could not be detected beyond the end of her own driveway.

I didn't think she died there, just that she came home Thrusday and then stayed in until Friday and maybe the perp grabed her at the house and put her in a car near the front door. But I get your answer, the dog wouldn't go out if her freshest scent stayed within the house or to the front door. I just thought the dogs tracked the freshest scent but it was from the day before when she got home. I don't know if that makes sense or not. But thank you I understand about the way dogs track thanks to you :)

I posted the same sentiments a couple weeks ago, but I think most disagreed with me. I feel like it had to be someone who would know her schedule very well and trust that there was no one else in the house with her, even following her out. Her scent from the driveway could mean she was taken from the house. I believe this is why there are no shoes/socks - maybe she didn't have them on yet. They even could've just taken the purse and books to plant them and/or mislead. I find the scenario of an abductor being so "lucky" in so many aspects very hard to swallow, although I would never rule it out. I just don't see the case from that angle myself.

I think I missed the information about the shoes. Was it revealed that she didn't have shoes on? That is a big deal, if true.

And what does BBM stand for in the posts here? (Sorry, I'm still new.)

No, we don't know whether she had shoes on or not. We think a grey pair of sneakers is missing and assumed with her. BBM= bolded by me.

This is, oddly enough, not an odd thing at all. It is in fact somewhat common (or common enough to have been the subject of psych studies) for widows/widowers, parents of missing/deceased children etc to keep an item that smells strongly of their lost loved one to hold close in the lonely hours of the night. They aren't holding it to their faces and snorting it like cocaine or anything - just having it within smelling range can offer a certain measure of comfort. And yes, it can be an icky sounding item like a sock or undershirt.

It's always good to keep in mind that those who are experiencing a traumatic loss act in ways that don't make sense to others, or themselves for that matter.

All JMO

Not to be silly about this but another possibility is that she did have the grey sneakers on and either the kidnapper removed them or ordered her to. Then, when he folded her clothes to place them into the Juicy sac so neatly, he thought the shoes were out of place there or were a poor fit in the sac.

If in fact, a stranger took Sierra right in front of her driveway, it just blows my mind. If you look at where her house is situated, it would be so bold for a person to drive up close to her house. Although, it’s rural, there are houses along the street leading to her house and 7:15am or so is a busy time with people going to work, etc. And if it was quiet, then it’s all the more bold because, it seems, like a stranger would stick out like a sore thumb and sound would travel even more. And the street that leads to her house is almost like a driveway and just like if someone was driving down my driveway, a stranger would be noticed!

Just look at these pictures. I think it’s ok to link to it because it’s someone who is talking about the case.

The random stranger scenario (although I know it happens), if true, is just mind boggling to me in it’s boldness and that no one saw anything, including a car on a closed off street where her bag was found. This happened in the day time, not middle of the night. Her area is rural, but not isolated. If anything, you can see out for miles, which is one of the reasons I love Morgan Hill so much.

I just can’t believe she hasn’t been found and that no one knows what happened to her. She is so beautiful and full of life and deserves to live it to her fullest. I’m very sad for her family and friends, as well as all of us parents out there who trust that our kids will, if for nothing else, be safe on their way to school.

Apologies as I'm sure this info has been shared previously....What is that business behind her house? Uhhhh...hello! Second, is that a pool I see associated with her home? Can't you see her being watched as she lounged poolside? (Creeps!)

Which neighbor's yard was it that the scent dogs hit on and "evidence" was supposedly collected from? If the dogs hit there it would mean her scent was there likely from that morning, right?

Maybe as she left her cat got out and she had to go retrieve it. And with that, was late leaving for her bus? Could someone have helped her with kitty, and been let into the home, and then offered to take her to school?

This exact scenario happened to my daughter one morning, and the next door neighbor drove her to school. She never thought twice about accepting the ride. Maybe Sierra also would not have thought twice if something like this happened.

Just specualting. I know that no one is officially suspected of anything at this time. I am just curious as to how Sierra's scent was tracked to a neighbor's yard when by all I have read, the dogs would only hit on a fresh scent.

RE: Neighbor. I remember seeing a brief interview with one of the neighbors (SF) stating that his home was searched. Could someone share details about possible evidence collected and/or additional info. TIA!

I am not at all familiar with California. I presented a few seminars there and I dragged my husband out of there (or he begged me to come and get him--both versions are true!).

Is Morgan Hill warm enough that lounging by the pool would be a possibility from October (when they moved there) to the middle of March (when Sierra disappeared)?

I mean, I lounge outside on a nice sunny day in the winter in the midwest, if the temps are above 25 F... but besides my natural lack of attractiveness, my rapidly advancing decrepitude and the six layers of clothing I'd be wearing, there wouldn't be much for someone to ogle.

Obviously Sierra was attractive and had no signs of decrepitude but still, I'd think that if she lounged by the pool October into March, she'd probably be wearing layers of warm clothes and so not much to ogle.

It was reported that items of interest were collected from a neighbor's property. I do not know if that meant from the yard or from the house, or both. And I do not know if that is the same neighbor who's yard the dog hit on for Sierra's scent.

One could assume all neighbor's homes and property were searched. It would be protocol, right? But one would not just assume evidence would be found on a neighbor's property.

We were never told what "evidence" was removed from any residence or yard in the neighborhood. But in many cases evidence is found during a neighborhood search that eventually proves to be nothing significant to the case.

Yes - October can be the hottest month in that area. And, o.k., even if she wasn't in a swimsuit, I could see her bopping around out by the pool; sitting out doing her homework, talking on the phone etc. The point being from the birdseye photo it seemed as if she would have been in a bit of a "fishbowl" situation.

If she always took her inhaler to school and her charger and they were not taken on this day, then she was taken by surprise from the house, either someone knocked on the door and she opened or they got in. Because had they got her on her way to the bus she would have had her inhaler. But then did the perp make her take clothes? Was she on her way out with her bags in hand but did not have a chance to grab the other items?

I still don't know how Mom can be sure what she took to school...Sierra seemed to be on her own when she left and came home from school...

With each passing hour, Sierra's family is getting more desperate for answers. "I'm just worried. I'm worried for her. She has asthma, and she doesn't have her inhalers, and I just want her to be safe," her Mother Marlene LaMar said.

Seems Sierra really did need her inhalers plural as quoted here by her mother

I can charge my iphone by plugging it into my computer.

Or, if a student is at a desk near the wall it's possible she would be near an outlet where she could plug it in there. But since phone use is typically not okay at school, I would assume she is bringing it to school in case she decides to go somewhere after school and needs it later.

my teen goes to Sobrato. they are not supposed to use their phones in class. they are allowed, however, to use them any other time outside (passing periods, breaks, lunch). when asked if they can charge them at school, i got....if you're lucky enough to sit next to an outlet - or know someone who does.

Driving through Morgan Hill this evening and I realized just how much water there really is here. How did I never notice? So many barns and outbuildings that have always just been part of the scenery now seem ominous. We stopped at this coffee place so my 13 year old could run in and use the bathroom. I parked close to the doors and saw at least three different missing posters for Sierra. Then it occurred to me I'd just let my daughter walk in to that place alone. I let her go but I did have reservations. This community must be so on edge. Posters are everywhere.

I agree. It was very early in the disappearance that Marlene said this. In this articleshe is quoted about the inhaler, this is before the bag being found was released to the public, and perhaps Marlene's actual words were said on the Saturday or Sunday - perhaps even before the phone was found?

I wonder if she wasn't trying to make other people as worried as she was. So on one hand, she is expressing concern that the charger isn't gone, and Sierra wouldn't leave without it if taking off, wouldn't not tell her friends, wouldn't deliberately cause them pain. On the other hand, if Sierra has taken off, she wants us to feel she is still in danger because of her asthma. If she can't convince us that Sierra isn't missing voluntarily, she is trying to persuade us Sierra is in danger anyway. I would do the same thing, I would be trying to ensure people are looking for my 15 year old for any reason if I truly felt she was abducted.

I totally agree Berry.. she does in fact state inhaler(s) as in plural.. so IMO Marlene has definitely looked into this possibility and IMO Marlene would be the one who would know exactly how many inhalers that Sierra did have seeing as how she the parent would be the one paying for them.. id say its likely that she checked with Steve as he'd be the only other personthat could have or wwould have purchased sierra's inhaler..and that the two parents together collectively would know EXACTLY HOW MANY INHALERS THAT SIERRA HAD AND THE TWO WOULD BE THE ONLY PEOPLE ABLE TO CHECK TO SEE EXACTLY HO MANY INHALERS WERE LEFT BEHIND BETWEEN THE TWO HOMES..

IMO now in seeing that Marlene did make the distinction in stating multiple, as in plural amount of inhalers.. I wouldn't doubt her and Steve had already come to the realization that aall of sierras inhalers were indeed accounted for between their two homes which IMO would make it therefore apparent that wherever it is that Sierra is at that she is without any of the inhalers that either/both parents had purchased for her..

Of course jmo, tho!
