You know I never thought about that in this case until it was mentioned but yes they do and I think they caught footage of this Jetta in Sierra's area.

imo

Because LE said Sierra's scent stopped at the end of her driveway, it seems they believe she never made it further than that spot on March 16. And now LE states the red car was seen in the area where Sierra disappeared and in other area(s) associated with Sierra's disappearance (where evidence was found). Cardoza said the car being seen in more than one associated area is not likely to be a coincidence. So, it sounds to me as if LE has video and/or witnesses that place the red car not only in area(s) where evidence was found but also very near Sierra's home at the time of her disappearance.

Sure hope she's alive! Thinking again about the Juicy bag being with those Siamese cats ... if she was taking off with someone, perhaps wanted to visit them, or perp wanted to visit them... okay, sorry, I know I going on about the cats...
All the searching of water - still wonder what that was about.. hopefully done as routine instead of a tip she was placed in the water...

Authorities have found a red Volkswagen Jetta with a distinctive black hood that surveillance video links to the disappearance of 15-year-old California girl Sierra LaMar.

No other details regarding where or how the car was found, or who owns, it were immediately available, as the search for LaMar continues two months after she vanished.

Still catching up here ... but I see that LE has this vehicle in their possession ...

JMO, but once this vehicle is "processed", they will know IF Sierra was in this vehicle -- OR -- if she was NOT in this vehicle ...

I sure hope they release whether or not she was in that vehicle so that the investigation can move on ...

I sure would like to know how long it has been in possession of LE. Did they find it abandoned in a shopping parking lot? If not, they had to obtain a SW from a Judge to legally seize anyone's vehicle to bring it to the LE impound yard.

I am hoping they have had it for sometime for the vehicle looks awfully clean and that would give the potential suspect 2 months to detail the car over and over again.

IMO

Judging on how long these tests take it could well be months before we know anything :(

Gotta wonder how all that's happening will be reported on the AMW show this Friday?

LE said they are not looking in waterways for Sierra but they are looking for evidence that may have been tossed. Now of course none of us here knows what evidence they are talking about. :) Could be her shoes, bracelet and socks if she wore any, perhaps.

Could they get a search warrant because the car was spotted in the three places (her house, cell phone, Juicy bag) around the time she was supposed to be heading to school?

I think the video is enough probable cause to get a search warrant. MO

I am thinking the Jetta was stolen and Sierra went to the party she was talking about. Gone too long - caused a big problem and too scared to come home.

Yes, they could if they went to a Judge and said they had reason to believe this car could be involved in Sierra's disappearance based on the eye witnesses and video tape in their possession.

But the owner of the car would have to be served with that SW.

The secrecy of who this vehicle belongs to is driving me nuts. Why so hush hush? Are they from a family that has strong ties in the community? Does LE want to play this one strictly by the book because of who their parents may be? Knowing that they will obtain a lawyer and may tell their family member to not talk with LE?

Just some questions going through my mind. :)

Since LE is saying they are not ruling out the connection between the two other attempted abductions that happened around the time that Sierra disappeared, I dont think LE thinks she went willingly with anyone and was kidnapped by someone she does not know.

Carrie McGonigle has joined the search for Sierra LaMar, the 15-year-old from Morgan Hill, Calif. who has been missing since March 16.

McGonigle has become involved in the searches for other missing people since her daughter Amber was abducted and killed by John Gardner in 2009. Her body was found years later in a remote area of Pala in northern San Diego County.

McGonigle formed "Team Amber Rescue," after her daughter’s death in order to help other families search for their loved ones.

The group is officially trained in search and rescue and has helped in many searches both in California and out of state.

Just eight months ago, McGonigle and a search dog named Amber found the body of Michelle Le, a missing Bay area woman.

what I would find interesting is how far back, and forward, from the time Sierra went missing, is this particular vehicle spotted on any cameras or recalled by witnesses. Or was it just in the specific vicinity on that Friday.
We don't know how long the vehicle has actually been in LE's possession or what evidence they may have gleaned from it. They don't appear to worried about the owner...so who had the car, when did it fall into their possession, and how long was it sitting where ever they found it?

Sarx- could a dog alert as to whether or not Sierra was in it? with LE thinking she is alive, could that mean , at least, a HRD dog didn't alert on that vehicle?

in regards to water searches, i'm thinking they are hoping to find a discarded weapon (as well as any items mentioned above).

Regarding the Chuck Taylor Converse and the Five point star, Didn't Sierra have a "Beloved" pair of red Chuck Taylor Converse shoes that were mentioned several times during the course of this case?

If anyone knows gang hand signs, can you please look at the photos on her Twitter page and tell us what the hand signs the young men in the photo are making, or if they are just playing around. Thank you

"I am not looking for trouble or a conviction. I just want — we all want her safe return. We all want this nightmare to end, and that's my plea out there," she said." (She being Sierra's mom.)

IMO - This sounds like something that would be said if underage Sierra went off with someone older...

I think what she is trying to do is appeal to the good side of this person if there is a good side. She is trying to be calm and say more or less. 'we know you may have made a mistake when you kidnapped Sierra but all we want is for you to just let her go and let her out somewhere safe so she can come home.'

I dont think Marlene has any idea how old this person is but Marlene is just trying to think of the right words that may soften his heart so he will let Sierra go imo.

Years ago there was a crime case in which a scent dog alerted on the scent of a hit-and-run victim found on the OUTSIDE fender of a car. Go, dogs, go!
