ETA: If LE is searching the ponds, lakes, and reservoirs for weapons, this must mean that they believe Sierra is no longer alive. Why would a kidnapper need to dispose of a gun or a knife or any other type of weapon if their victim is alive & physically unharmed?

I think LE is looking in the water for Sierra, unfortunately.

ITA with this. Also, why would they get rid of the weapon if she was alive. They would still need it to ensure her "cooperation", right?

I had kinda the opposite results, unless I really lobbed it high, but even then it wasn't a great success. I obviously need to come to your place and take purse tossing lessons to master my technique!

The weight has to be at the bottom of the bag and really jammed in there or it becomes top heavy.

I neatly folded the clothes and then rolled them in order to keep them at the bottom of the bag. Then I jammed a couple spiral bound notebooks on top that were actually a little taller than the zipper, so they acted as wedges.

And yeah, I tried to toss as if I were sitting off the ground in a car, so my tosses tended to be parabolic.

In my travelling days, I rolled my clothes to keep them from wrinkling, so I figured that rolling neatly folded clothes could count as "neatly folded" clothes.

Has someone gone out and taken pictures yet, by the way? I'm moving tomorrow, but I was thinking of doing that when I get some time (hoping my bf has a camera)

I realized the other day that the camera in my phone is actually better than my Canon camera. And it has the advantage of always being where I am. Just a thought...

There are lots of photos in the threads, but I think there is a gallery somewhere. And PattyG (IIRC) has a You Tube channel with Nancy Grace interviews and stuff.

The one neighbor told reporters that LE took his security camera video after he noticed TWO cars that he "didn't understand" on the day Sierra disappeared around 7:00am-7:15 am. What would cause LE to not release info about the other car? If it didn't belong in the cul-de-sac or neighborhood at that time of the morning, it is hinky.

Maybe they found the driver of the other car early on and were able to determine s/he was ruled out.

For instance, maybe the driver was picking someone else up in the cul-de-sac at 7:05 am, when Sierra was probably still inside the house. They came forward and the person they gave the ride to confirmed that they were gone by 7:10 am. Then both of them were cleared because they were seen at their workplace at 7:20 am. Or at a time that was consistent with the drive, without enough time to dispose of a body.

It's clear now that LE had a lot more information than they were letting on.

For me, it's always a bit of a see-saw in these cases between "LE has more than they seem to have" and "LE has nothing."

Fortunately, it looks like the see-saw is coming down on the good side this time.

Playing devil's advocate with myself here, I wonder if the bag could have been tossed through the open sunroof of the red Jetta? That would give more height and leverage, perhaps. It would entail the driver stopping the car, but so would him getting out and placing it by the shed.

That said, I can't envision the bag landing so precisely between the cactus and the shed, unless it hit the shed and slid down. Thus the devil's advocate part ...

Anyone following reports on "the hinky meter" &/or reports being tweeted by hotsteno (the neighbor who has been very active on "finding sierra"... she was mentioned in previous posts on WS)? The info is that a car was stolen in the area (Palm Ave) morning of March 16 (the day SL reported missing) and then later found (on Lentz) on Mar 24. However, I don't know that there's any proof that this is THE Jetta linked to SL.

Are scanner reports archived for this period? If so, would the car description be mentioned?

Just throwing this info out for consideration :)

IIRC, hotsteno said she had information she could not share that meant we should ABSOLUTELY dismiss any suspicions of the family. I have to wonder if she is the same neighbor Pensfan mentioned:

Perhaps hotsteno was the neighbor who recorded the unusual activity and therefore "knew" the family had no involvement.

I am following hotsteno on Twitter and she does not live on the same street as SL. She has stated that she lives on Scheller(?)

If LE was looking for additional information about a vehicle they already had in their possession, why would they have said "In the first significant lead in nearly two months, authorities are now searching for a vehicle they say is associated with the March disappearance of Morgan Hill teen Sierra LaMar, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office said."

http://www.mercurynews.com/crime-co...office-seeking-red-mid-1990s-jetta-associated

If they really had the car, how could they not know what year it was (this information is contained in the VIN aka Vehicle Identification Number)? If they had released an image of the correct year's model it would have been more meaningful, since they claim they already had the car, why not use the most similar photo available, and why not show us the front and rear views? They should also have known the tag number, but did not release this information. As for the license plates, and the fact we are only shown the car from angles that exclude the tag, I wonder if they were custom "vanity" tags that only someone who had been driving behind them or saw the vehicle parked would know. The only other reasonable explanation is that they were stolen tags and of no use in trying to identify the car, as they may have changed tags more than once.

I will join you in that crow eating if this is. To me it does not feel gang related either.

I just can't see gang members waking up before 12 noon. This person had to be in that neighborhood early and know what time she leftt he house. Not sure a gang or gang member would have that dedication and that knowledge.

I still think it is someone in the neighborhood, connected to her school or a parent/brother/boyfriend of one of her friends. Someone who was watching her, either saw her online or around the neighborhood.

Maybe a janitor/clerk/construction worker/teacher etc. MO

You can use an awesome website, www.crimereports.com, to find information about crime in any area that you want, including stolen cars and stolen car recoveries in Morgan Hill during March - May.

There was a stolen car on March 16th on Palm Avenue and then a recovery of another stolen car on March 24. This site doesn't give the type of car, etc.

There were also other stolen car recoveries in Morgan Hill after March 16, so who knows.

The time listed for the crime on this website is the time the report was taken or the time that the call was made to police. It doesn't indicate the time the actual car was stolen.

For instance, the car stolen on Palm on March 16th was reported at almost 11am, but who knows what time the car was stolen.

BUT, there are many reports of stolen cars and a couple of stolen car recoveries since March, so you can take it all with a grain of salt.

On the other hand, if you have time, it is interesting to see the stolen vehicles recovered in the next day after the SO released the information about the Jetta. They "found" it by the next day and if it was in fact a stolen car, that should be on record on the site...somewhere.

OK Ihave shared this with Sarx in a message but now that this is out might as well share. How many recall a tweet and sorry at work that was on one of our threads here shared by a poster early on. Where one of Sierra's friends was asking if anyone had any info on a grey dodge? The was discussion going on in other places last night that that was the car on the 16th taken and recovered the next week ( take it for what it is worth) But is it possible there were two cars now involved?

I can't see LE moving to cover every reservoir in the area to look for such small items as wallets and weapons, when they don't seem to have a particular weapon in mind. Imagine all the of the small items that must be in the water. And what would they glean from a wallet or shoes at this point? No, I think they are trying rule out Sierra being in any of them. JMO

I have seen LE dive for guns, but generally when they have some evidence it was tossed into a certain pond, for example.

I'll eat crow if I'm wrong but...

I really, really, really, really don't think this is gang related.

Sure, this area has gang activity, but %95 of it is 13-17 year old kids that spray paint "XIV" on dumpsters and shop lift candy bars. I've lived here my whole life and I think I've heard of one instance of a gang shooting (not saying it's never happened, I'm just saying we're not detroit)

I think that the car was red is a coincidence, and I don't think gangs are up and prowling at 6 in the morning.

FYI:

Summer Crow Kabobs

Ingredients
16 pieces of crow breast meat (no bones) (8 crows)
16 pieces of green pepper
16 cherry tomatoes
8 button mushrooms
8 ears of sweet corn
1 1/2 cups of Teriyaki sauce
1/2 cup melted butter
8 kabob skewers
Preparation
Cut each piece of crow in half and place in a covered bowl with the Teriyaki sauce over night. Clean and cut each ear of corn into 3 pieces. Cook in boiling salt water for 10 minutes. Alternately put corn (3 pieces), green peppers (3 pieces) and cherry tomatoes (3) along with 4 pieces of crow meat on each skewer. Use 1 mushroom to top each skewer. Brush with melted butter and place on preheated grill for about 4 minutes. Flip, butter again and place back on grill for another 4 minutes. Repeat one last time for a total of 12 minutes or until they appear done. Serves four adults.

Crock Pot Crow

Ingredients
12 - 16 pieces of crow breast meat (no bones) (6 - 8 crows)
2 cups barbecue sauce
1 cup water
1/3 cup of brown sugar
1/3 cup of chopped onions
1/3 cup of chopped green peppers
salt and black pepper to taste
Preparation
Shred crow breasts into as small pieces as possible. Add to crock pot with all other ingredients. Cook in crock pot for 6 hours on low. Serve over rolls or bread. Makes 4 servings.

Crow Casserole

Ingredients
12 pieces of crow breast meat (no bones) (6 crows)
2 quart sauerkraut
6 slices of bacon
1/3 cup of chopped onions
Preparation
Brown the crow breasts in a skillet with butter or oil. When browned, place them in a casserole dish on 1/2 inch layer of sauerkraut. Lay a 1/2 strip of bacon on each 1/2 breast and sprinkle the onion on them. Next, add another layer of sauerkraut and some of the juice. Bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours. Makes 2 servings.

Pan Fried Crow

Ingredients
2 eggs
seasoned bread crumbs or flour
oil or bacon grease
Preparation
Remove breast meat from as many crows as desired. Beat with meat mallet (for tenderizing). Dip pieces in beaten egg and then in bread crumbs or flour. Fry in oil in hot skillet. Bacon grease can be substituted by can smoke. Leave inside a tad pink.

Crow Creole

Ingredients
2 medium onions
2 fresh chilies chopped
2 ribs celery
3 cloves garlic minced
¼ pound butter
16oz. chicken broth
1 can whole tomatoes
1 small can tomato paste
8oz. ketchup
1/8 teaspoon white pepper
1/2 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
1 tablespoons hot pepper sauce
1/2 tablespoons garlic sauce
1/4 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
1 tablespoon fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 pound (12 pieces, or so) crow breast chopped into bite-sized pieces
Preparation
Brown the crow breasts in a skillet with butter or oil. When browned, place them in a Sauté onion, celery, chilies and garlic in butter until tender. Add the above ingredients and all of the remaining ingredients to a crock pot and cook on low for 6-7 hours.

To serve, heap about 1 cup of rice in the center of the plate, and ladle a generous amount of the sauce around it. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley.

At that time, Investigators were asking if friends of hers had seen a white a dodge Dynasty as the one they had in a photo. They did not have the actual vehicle, just a photo of one like it.

Gangs will do anything for money, and there is a lot of money to be made trafficking young girls. I'm not saying it's likely, but I wouldn't rule it out in the least. It happens much more than it is reported, but it happens more farther south closer to the border. It is kind if a stretch at this point, but if LE has a hunch Sierra may be alive, I have almost no doubt they are looking into the possibility. She probably would've been "handed off" shortly after being taken if so, imo.

I just don't see a connection. If she knew the perp and he happened to be a gang member that is one thing. But I don't think a gang kidnapped her for slavery purposes.
Why kidnap some girl from a well to do or middle class family? It would cause a lot of ruckus and unwanted attention to yourself and your gang. It would be easier to grab girls who are already in sketchy situations (runaways, hanging out on the streets a lot, etc.) because the chances of it getting national attention are a lot less. Who would want the heat on them and risk their other illegal activites (drugs, blackmarket sales)?

That is not to say it couldn't be a gang member who was acting for some personal sick motivation.

Gang members aren't the brightest bunch for one thing; they generally think they can do what they want and won't get caught doing it. Many kidnappings don't get this kind of attention. But, I do partially agree with you here. However, I think many girls are stalked online, and most homeless girls/runaways don't really have access to internet.

I don't see a gang connection either, unless Sierra had or was dating someone from a gang...

Is it WS again, or do I really need a new computer...having SO much trouble with this site again this week...
