Gangs have developed a whole whole lot since the "Colors" days. Many of them fall very strongly into the organized crime group. True, some are still just street thugs, but some are highly organized crime rings that include all kinds of black market trade.
Not saying this is the case here (though it has been on my mind). Just saying it's important to not pigeon hole them as there are many gangs that have evolved to a much higher level.

I just don't see a connection. If she knew the perp and he happened to be a gang member that is one thing. But I don't think a gang kidnapped her for slavery purposes.
Why kidnap some girl from a well to do or middle class family? It would cause a lot of ruckus and unwanted attention to yourself and your gang. It would be easier to grab girls who are already in sketchy situations (runaways, hanging out on the streets a lot, etc.) because the chances of it getting national attention are a lot less. Who would want the heat on them and risk their other illegal activites (drugs, blackmarket sales)?

That is not to say it couldn't be a gang member who was acting for some personal sick motivation.

IF this person picked Sierra out online, he may not have realized her R/L "status" when he selected her. Online she presented as a vulnerable, lonely, desperate, beautiful girl, who could be swayed with drink, drugs and promises. They knew she was from a broken home and did not get along with her mom, and may have realized her farher was a RCSO. When you describe her in the terms she used to describe herself, you don't picture a "girl from a well to do or middle class family."

Has someone gone out and taken pictures yet, by the way? I'm moving tomorrow, but I was thinking of doing that when I get some time (hoping my bf has a camera)

Thanks, Doormouse!

All new pix will be most welcome.

We have a terrific sleuther that has created an incredible phot-bucket of this case. The name is Amanda----, but I am not certain of the rest.

Maybe Amanda, or another sleuther, will pop in, and/or remember where to find this great resource!

At 7:30 am would bet most gang member were asleep - would be interesting if there is a stat about when gang abductions take place...okay, maybe a crystal meth head would be wide awake...

I also don't see a gang connection. Typically they are involved in other criminal activities (drug possession and sales, stolen property, etc), therefore, would not want this sort of attention from LE. If a gang member was involved, he would be advised by other members to get rid of her (alive or not) somewhere where she will easily be found. Gang leaders run a "business" and try very hard to stay away from LE and media attention. Jmo

Amanda Reckonwith?

Yes... Amanda Reckonwith!

Thank you, Lisa B.!

And sorry, Amanda Reckonwith. Please do not be offended that I couldn't recall your whole "name". My brain's megabytes are rather full!

And I see someone has now posted the photo-bucket link.

Thank you!

IIRC, hotsteno said she had information she could not share that meant we should ABSOLUTELY dismiss any suspicions of the family. I have to wonder if she is the same neighbor Pensfan mentioned:

Perhaps hotsteno was the neighbor who recorded the unusual activity and therefore "knew" the family had no involvement.

There was an unnamed male neighbor (just his voice) on KTVU channel 2 news who told the reporter about the two cars and showed the camera on his house. I believe HS was privy to the suspect vehicle because she was asked about it as a concerned neighbor by LE.

If Le is still planning water searches, then they are looking for Sierra, IMO. I don't believe divers go down for things like shoes, etc...

I think they will continue to say she is alive until...she isn't, just like Samantha. JMO

Agreed. If LE was looking for a weapon, then it's a specific weapon, and how would that trace back to Sierra? These searches are too numerous and thorough for LE to be looking for anything besides a body, unfortunately, or a major clue unknown to us. They want to rule that out MOO.

I just read in the photobucket that they were searching private bodies of water. I wonder if the car belonged to someone that had water on their land or access to private lake or something. tia

So is it possible for a car to go down Sierra's street and not be on the neighbor's camera? Also would the camera catch Sierra walking past going to school every AM?

That's an excellent point, and I have no clue except (1) LE wants to be 100% sure all bodies of water are included, (2) it took LE awhile to get, serve search warrants, then make plans w/property owners, and (3) LE has info pointing them to private property. I don't know how long the private property searches have been planned.

I have no idea except don't those cameras re-record over and over? My hunch is that LE checked out all street cameras immediately after Sierra disappeared and took possession of the recordings to see if she or anyone else was caught on film. Why the info re the red Jetta just came out recently (was already known from the beginning?) or the info was released to keep the case in the public's eye because information was slowing down. The publicity in this case has been enormous for nearly 8 weeks. Well executed, IMO, although it hasn't resulted in Sierra being found... yet.

Playing devil's advocate with myself here, I wonder if the bag could have been tossed through the open sunroof of the red Jetta? That would give more height and leverage, perhaps. It would entail the driver stopping the car, but so would him getting out and placing it by the shed.

That said, I can't envision the bag landing so precisely between the cactus and the shed, unless it hit the shed and slid down. Thus the devil's advocate part ...

Imo.....The shed is far from the road...but it so in plain sight that you can see it from far away . There is nothing around it, it could not be thrown. It would be out of the ordinary to see someone walking there. I'll take a pic today and post.

just a possibility

What if Sierra had a fight with her mother/step dad the night before and left the house. She contacts her mother via her cell in the morning telling her to leave her some clothes and her bag near the shed and she will pick them up. She also sends an old pic showing the clothes she wants in the bag.

Her mom drops them off on the way to work and assumes she will pick them up (without going home that morning) and wear them to school. Mom assumes she will see Sierra after school. Possibly mom does not want step dad to know she has done this.

The day goes on and Sierra does not pick them up - or they are not there when she arrives to get them and therefore slings her phone out the car window of whoever's car she is with.

She can now go to the concert or party or whatever it was she wanted to do that night. Mom could be hiding some information like the step dad kicked Sierra out or something. That would be why she is acting odd in interviews. I don't feel like the parents hurt Sierra but do feel like the mother could have put the clothes and bag there for her to pick up. Would explain the picture sent to mom matching the clothes in the bag.

They don't always get recorded over, especially if they're computer-based. At my work they have 16 security cameras that they can go back a week or more and check if needed. If this guy only had one or even a few cameras and they are recorded to a hard drive and only while he's not home or during certain hours, chances are he can go pretty far back if needed. He may have not thought about it until later, unless LE had them for weeks and it took them a while to get to them.
