This is terrible and so upsetting. She was in her own neighborhood near her home and who knows, possibly even in her own driveway. A young teenager and anyone for that matter should be able to safely walk around their neighborhood without fearing for their safety. Her poor mother is going to blame herself for the rest of her life... "I shouldn't have moved to MH...shouldn't have had her walk to the bus stop..." all because of some sicko who appeared out of nowhere and acted as a predator attacking his pray. What can one do to ensure that this doesn't happen to their own child?
We don't know yet if Sierra was contacting him or if she was his friend. (He may not have come from nowhere.)

It is surprising that he supposedly doesn't have a criminal record except for resisting arrest in 2009. Maybe he has other charges, but they were expunged or they are hidden because he was a juvenile when they occurred?

It is disturbing that he has photos of two dead animals on his Myspace.

can we post a myspace?? nothing recent, but I am 99.9% its his

I have the pics..it is him but the name is antolin torres-garcia, not garcia-torres. These cases are all driving me nuts. I think those pics are him. Are you talking the graduation pics and the one with a petite girl with Long Black hair? If it is him, his life looked very good at that time.

I don't believe that a fifteen year old should not be able to walk alone to her bus stop...That is absolutely not the the answer to this problem.
It will be for my daughter! I was approached when I was 17 walking home alone by someone who may have turned out to be a serial killer. No reason for a young girl to be unnecessary prey, IMO.

Lake cunningham

Isn't that a place he would have to pay to get into?
It appears to me that it has one main entrance and a park perimeter road, with possibly two entrances for maintenance workers.
Would this place be open at that time of day or on a school day (she was going to the bus stop, early a.m.)?

There is a FB for Antolin Torres-Garcia with what looks to be photos of sleeping puppies. Maybe the puppies aren't really sleeping since his Myspace has photos of a dead bird and a dead beaver? :shiver:

this is so very sad - glad they arrested a perp - so sad at what they have found out/released to us.
Was just talking for work with a native of this area now in WA -- she won't bring her teenagers back to live here (they are in Portland/Vancouver).
Her quote: My kid hangs out with kids and bonfires on the beach -- no way he will go back there...

I love my home here, but maybe because I can retreat to the backyard resort and not have to deal with the "Silicon Valley" effect -- 20 years ago when I came here from NY, I had never seen so many MBs, BMWs, etc just driving around -- and then some really high end cars!! and you see them all the time...it's a lot of pressure, and a lot of have-nots....

I'm from East Side San Jose and grew up right next to that lake. That part of ESSJ is pretty tame compared to others.. but I totally didn't even think about the possibility of him dumping her there. I haven't been inside the park for years but there's a lot of land inside of it, and a waterpark that doesn't open until the warmer weather.

There's also a creek right next to it, fwiw. Though there is a mall, a shopping center, two car dealerships, a small airport, and plenty of houses directly next to that... I guess the lake would definitely be quieter. I practiced driving there one summer in broad daylight.. not too many people. (It's not the prettiest lake, really.)

Sorry to write such a long post, but this is all hitting very close to home right now...

And what about the parents who work from 6 AM to 5PM like Marlene, what could Marlene have done to avoid her daughter being kidnapped?
Driven her daughter to the bus stop, or gotten her work schedule arranged so Sierra was not all by herself, or made arrangements with someone...
I'm not blaming the family, but that's how you prevent tragedies like this one. I never thought she ran away or brought a change of clothes. Sadly, I was right.

You know what they say, it usually starts out with animals...and there is the proof..ugh

From what I remember (I haven't been there in at least 5 years, and I was a minor then), you don't have to pay to enter most parts. I practiced my driving there one summer in an empty lot. I think most of it is open all year, too. Boyfriend (who also lives near there) says it is closed at night, though... not sure what the hours are.

"I would say they're very angry now," Klaas said of the LaMar family, although he hadn't talked to them late Monday night.
"They've been told somebody murdered their daughter, but they can't prove it. That's how I felt. They needed to prove to me one way or another before I would accept anything, until they proved to me my daughter was dead."
After being dominated by fear and anger for the past two months, the LaMar family is now "possibly at the point where there won't be anything left to be afraid of," Klaas said.
Until Sierra's body is recovered, he said, his volunteers will continue with a scheduled search Wednesday "in hopes of still finding Sierra alive."

BBM Search will go on as scheduled on Wednesday, according to Klass.

Thank you "Jackie, Oh!".
I saw the water park and skate park and figured that there would be separate areas to pay for each. Then I thought maybe there was a fee and entrance to the main park itself or at the very least it would be gated and not accessible due to insurance reasons (Water park, skate park).

Thank you so much for the inside track, truly.

FWIW, I think the fuzzy purply pic on his main page at MS is a big pot bud, plus we see some smokin pics -- not anything against it, but those gangstas at the Safeway and Home Depot (etc) usually have another money-makin side line.......

We should be focusing on teaching our sons, nephews, male friends, etc, to respect and treat well the world's girls and women, not just telling girls and women it is their responsibility to not get raped and killed. JMO

Agreed. Never said that, you're putting words in my mouth...

Glad to help!

The water park is gated off pretty well, but you have to drive through the park to get there. I think it opens sometime in April or May - most likely open already - can't imagine he would go anywhere near there as there is a lot of foot traffic.

Wasn't sure about the skate park (past my time), but apparently it charges admission and has hours of operation so we can assume that's gated off too:
http://www.sjparks.org/Skateboard/GeneralInfo.asp

And I looked up the park hours of operation and it's 8AM until half an hour after sunset.

I'm sure there are plenty of ways to get in outside of those hours by walking... though with cargo :-( that might be difficult.

What is the connection?

I don't understand why LE would say they will be searching with hopes they will still find her alive, if that is a quote from LE in article above...how much can they put a family through? I hope they are not giving them false hope, again. JMO

It is intimidating to see all these cars and there will be a lot more since Facebook went public. Many people have Beamers and Mercedes...*sigh*. Silicon Valley is booming right now. House Sales = the asking price is the starting price..back to the way it was ten years ago. It is beyond expensive to live in South San Jose (still cheaper than the peninsula). Morgan Hill is a bargain if you want to add more miles to your daily ride to work. Many don't.
