I don't understand why LE would say they will be searching with hopes they will still find her alive, if that is a quote from LE in article above...how much can they put a family through? I hope they are not giving them false hope, again. JMO

Since they arrested him on a murder charge, they believe she is dead. They're searching to recover her body, this is no longer a missing persons case or a rescue.
I think it was Marc Klass who said he will still search for her alive...

FWIW I don't know if the park is a viable place to search- it is a place he apparently knows though. There are also 2 lake pics but I don't know ...yet ...if it is Lake Cunningham ( which is off E Capital Expy, along with Raging Waters and a Skate park) or if it is 1 or 2 different lakes

Some websites are saying it's suspicion of murder. Anyone seen the booking details? I mean, in my mind, I believe she was murdered. I don't think they are saying yet because they truly don't know. I don't think it's a false hope thing as much as a "if she is alive, she's probably in bad shape" statement. From the way I am taking it, they have his DNA in her bag, but no indication of death, and he probably didn't confess.

Still, it seems wrong to even say that, in a way...they don't charge someone with murder if they don't have some evidence of death, IMO. Her friends on twitter are still looking for anything to cling to and are not believing this news, since she has not been found...

If they found any blood or DNA of Sierra's in his car, she's probably no longer alive...

I wonder if they got a confession then, Linask? I think DNA was in the bag and there had to be DNA in car. Maybe death bands. By the wording though, he may have talked. LE has been following him for a long time. I suspect they were hoping he would lead them to her body.

The KTVU article said the evidence linked his DNA to her clothing. I'm guessing he forced her to undress, then raped her, or raped her with her clothes on, but his semen is on them...

it was me really, thinking since he has a pic of this on MS, it might be a place he is familiar with. My theory is once you have a POI, then all you can learn about their habits, and haunts might provide leads into where you might find a victim... that's all... I look at all sorts of stuff.

The one picture front on looks very similar but the others don't to me ... a few years and weight gain changes a lot though. That said he'd be a pretty unlucky random dude to look so similar and have the same name.

I don't know about others but i sometimes get a bit divorced from the likely horror as you turn details over and try to read between the media's lines, seeing his photo is just terrible, the realisation of what Sierra may have endured.

He must have done this very soon after he got her in the car then. I'm puzzled about the bag being so close to her home. I would think he would get out of the area ASAP.

Safeway is in town, and she lived so far out in the middle on nowhere, a straight drive down Dougherty though. How did he target her? I wonder if she shopped there with her mom...and he followed them.

I didn't mean to imply that you had - just don't feel that it's entirely fair to say that Sierra's parents could have prevented this tragedy by not allowing her to walk alone. If the accused did, in fact, hurt this poor girl, it's because he is a sick, hateful individual, not because Sierra's mother didn't drive her to the bus stop. If he is found guilty, I hope he never sees the outside world again!

Yeah, but she was easy prey since she was alone. That doesn't need to happen. My daughter will be driven to school until she is able to drive herself.

I want to add that a friend on the myspace has made reference to the arrest on her current FB acct- so yes it is his MS
