I searched google and it seems like the trial is still today just not until 2:00PM west coast time.

thanks, Northxnorthwest!

I am often surprised when the event times on WS coorespond to my longitude!

I am usually behind by 2 to 3 hours!

but Sierra 's case is in my time zone!

No problem! I hope we get some news today on Sierra and what happened to her and most importantly - she needs to be found. I hope AGT does the "right thing" and plead guilty but the events leading up to this court date make it seem like he is going to try and fight it....ugh what a monster putting his family through this, I don't think his mom knows where Sierra is but I believe she would reveal if she knew. Ive been following this case from the start so I've been waiting awhile for today.

I am awaiting today's court hearing...

But I am also fearing I will be disappointed again as this perp delays giving a plea!!!

Sierra and her family deserve so much more respect and justice than that!:banghead:

:( ugh seriously

ok I don't know as much as I should about the legal system with trials and such but how can he just keep pushing off whether he is guilty/not guilty, his defense has to review everything against him to be able to explain that it's a mistake and he just happened to "pick her up and give her a ride and dropped her off and doesnt know what happened to her" but obviously I think they have more evidence then that so I don't understand why it's being put off other than AGT is trying to work the system and delay everything? What if they find Sierra soon? So sad for her family but at least they have him locked up?

  • #767
Ever the optimist, maybe they are trying to work out what kind of deal they can get versus trying to get him off.

  • #768
I am sorry her family has to be in suspense like this, both with finding Sierra and getting through this darned plea. I don't see him pleading guilty anyway, so why not get it over with? But if the delay could lead to a guilty plea, I am all for it.

  • #769
Unless they've got something HUGE that they're hiding, I don't see him plea dealin' it. He can explain away pretty much everything enough to cause reasonable doubt anyways. (That bothers me to no end btw...)

  • #770
This is ridiculous, IMO. But then, there could be behind-the-scenes wrangling. Another month goes by without even entering a plea. AGT has way too much power. He should man up for the family's sake.

If nothing else, the perp in the Mickey Shunick case did, and he has already started his LWP term.

Let's close this book, AGT, so we can move on, especially for both families' sake.

I totally agree and have been saying this from the getgo . Unless her DNA is in the trunk of the car I don't see a plea deal coming .

Hmmm. Reading comments here and on the story at kion.
I guess we don't need no stinking trials.

Not a single person here has seen any evidence but is taking the word of the police
as heresay, without proof.

I want the truth to be heard in this case.

A lot of cases are poker games. I just think the Public Defender's have "called" and asked the Prosecutors to show their hand. There is a distinct probability that they have been bluffing. They bluff a lot of people into a plea deal with the threat that, it's high stakes, you lose your case, guilty or not, you can get the death penalty.
So many times even an innocent man will plead guilty rather than put his life in the hands of a lawyer.

I wish people would scream for TRUTH and JUSTICE as loud as they scream GUILTY without even having a case go to trial. Do you think that might play a large role in
innocent people going to jail all the time in this country?
The fact that sleazy lawyers like to try their case in the court of public opinion?

If I am ever ACCUSED of a crime with no evidence shown whatsoever, I hope none of you are on the jury in my case, saying I am GUILTY without benefit of a trial.

LE does make these kinds of charges on a "bluff."

As far as truth coming out...that is seldom what trials are about, unfortunately.

I personally am ok with it getting pushed out farther and farther. The longer it goes the more time there is to find her.

I personally think there is lots of evidence pointing at him, not sure if it's enough, only time will tell.

And whether I think he is guilty or not does not by any means mean that I would go in and convict if there wasn't the evidence to back it up. My personal opinion is just that, and I am quite capable of putting it aside and following the letter of the law.

BBM-Thank you so much for that! Just reading about a local case that happened in 1996. Used to work with her mother. Local man sent to prison in 1998 for life, confessed to crime and recently DNA results indicate he was NOT the killer. Anyone interested can google it .. Angie Dodge .. was recently featured on Dateline. Interesting case. Now back on topic. Thanks again, Houndstooth.

Deanna there are so many people past, present and future who have been and will be wrongly convicted. DNA or no DNA.

You may know that this particular Prosecutor's Office crime lab has been under investigation for tampering with evidence including DNA evidence. (Yes, they have their OWN lab not an independent one!)
You hate to think about them planting evidence but, it happens.
It depends on the oversight, how thorough the labs are about procedures,
and their integrity or lack thereof at 'winning' at all costs.
Once they take samples and they are in their custody, who knows where they might end up.

I am glad your co-worker's son was able to clear his name.
But, you can't say justice was served ever.
If it were, this innocent man would never have seen the inside of a prison cell and spent one minute of his life wrongly convicted. It will affect him in ways that can not be undone.

Houndstooth, I agree with you on this issue, and I have my own reservations regarding this case. Everyone has been saying that they are disgusted with AGT postponing the case going to trial. This makes no sense to me. If he truly did kill Sierra, wouldn't he want to hurry up with the process, considering her body has not been found? He could theoretically avoid being charged with the murder if they prosecuted without a body, and found it later, under the rules of double jeopardy. Granted, some of the delays are likely not attributable to him anyhow, but are probably due to the standard court delay related issues like public defenders with too many cases.

Finally got around to really studying Project X. Wow, that's the new teen cult following huh? Lovely.

Since it is AGT's PD requesting the extensions, sounds like the DA has some pretty damning evidence. If AGT pleads not guilty, then at some point when/if this goes to trial, the prosecution's evidence will be revealed. I don't have enough information to make a prediction at this point nor am I part of the jury that hears both sides, so will have to wait....
