I had a job when I was 15...I guess it does not seem like a child-like age to me, JMO.

So did i

A job has nothing to do with someone being home for u.
Im not saying she not old enuff to work im saying she is safer with someone around as we seeeeee what happend....

Sorry i just dont agreee with you!

Well if i left my house at 6 am id worry about my daughter getting out to school and being out at 7am waiting all alone for her school bus. Im sorry i wouldnt want to worry like that every day.

And just because there have been latchkey kids for decades does not make it right.... Look at all the young girls missing whyyyyyyyyyyy Opportunity!

Actually there are more missing males than females. Females tend to make the news more than male children.

People have to work. And at 15, I dont know of anyone that hires a babysitter for a child that age.

It was daylight when she caught the bus.

IMO

I was working at 15 as well. Although some do, I don't think an average 15 year old needs a sitter. From what I read, she seemed like a smart girl.

I'm way behind here. Not sure what has happened since last night. If it weren't for Sierra's cell phone being discarded I might think she ran away.

As of last night, I didn't think her family had anything to do with her disappearance (although Sierra being referred to in the past tense bothered me).

Going to try to catch up.

I don't think so, she asked her sister to face time her. And there's one where she's facetiming herself from a white iPhone you can see in the picture and the tweet says sent via twitter for iPhone. It seems like she did have access to an iPhone - it could've been someone else's, but she asks her sister to FaceTime her on a different date at 8:47pm.

Also on the 14th she said she would be in LA with another girl... ummm???
And that girl hasn't tweeted since the 15th

Yes, I was going to ask if anyone saw that.
OF store or something in LA?

And that girl hasn't Tweeted anymore either?
hmmm. indeed.

That is what worries me. Some teens can know something but they will not tell even if the situation is serious.

IMO

Anyone with twitter can report him just like you can here.
OR get a screen cap and call LE then Email it to them.

If her mom had been in the house...and Sierra got into a car down at the end of the driveway and her mom did not see her do so...it would not have mattered whether she was home while Sierra got ready for school or not. She still would not have known that Sierra did not make it to school until whenever she did find out. Or should mom have walked her to the bus stop and stayed there with her too? She is 15, not 7, or even 11. JMO

LaMar’s mother Marlene and her boyfriend Rick Gardiner, as well as the teen’s father Steve LaMar have all been ruled out as suspects, according to Smith.

“The entire family has fully cooperated with our agency,” Smith said. “All of the family (mother, father, Gardiner) have alibis and can be accounted for at the time Sierra went missing.”

Well, the picture of the pretty girl (I guess) that Sierra (or someone using her account) shared with her friend has been removed.

Also, this reminds me of an article I read recently in... The New York Times, iirc, about teens/university students sharing their passwords with their girlfriends/boyfriends as a way to demonstrate their trust in each other.

Oh it's common for friends to "hack" each other and post funny stuff on their friend's pages.

Oops I'm back tracking posts as I'm not caught up.

I would. If I couldn't take my kids to school myself, either I or someone else would be waiting at the bus stop with them until they were picked up.

Fremont has a higher cost of living and housing...the schools and lifestyle are both ranked higher. It appears Marlese wanted a big house...and couldn't afford that type of house in Fremont, San Jose but could afford it in Morgan Hill.

Yes, the schools in Fremont generally are ranked higher than Morgan Hill. Anyone in the South Bay hears about how excellent Fremont schools are in the better neighborhoods. Mission San Jose High School in Fremont is ranked 34, one of the best in California. But in the case of Washington High (Fremont) vs Sobrato High (MH), Sobrato is ranked higher. And the other high school in Fremont is even ranked lower.

Exactly. And no parent can watch their children 24/7 no matter if they are very good parents. Its just not humanly possible.

The mother certainly isnt to blame for what happened to Sierra and at this time we dont know if she went willingly with someone that she trusted and it has turned out to be someone she shouldnt have trusted at all.

No, her mother shouldnt be expected to walk her to the bus stop, imo and a 15 year old would cringe if their mother did that as if they were an elementary child.

So would i !

It is possible to know exactly where your kids are 24/7. I do. If they are not at school, they are either with me, my boyfriend (who isn't a monster, regardless of what Dr. Laura would say), or their grandparents.

The safety of my kids is not negotiable. I can find a different job or give up something to ensure their safety. Because if something were to happen to one of them, no amount of money or things in the world is going to make up for that.

No one said the mother was to blame.
and there is nothing wrong with making sure your child is safe and if that means walking to the bus with her so she didnt have to wait there alone so be it.

I gotta ask..how old are your kids?

I don't necessarily blame her mother. I don't see how it is possible, but a lot of people really do not realize how dangerous the world we live in really is. Not just because of people who are looking to rape and murder, but people who just aren't paying attention because they are playing with the radio or texting and run off the road and hit kids walking to/from school. (It has happened here.)

  • #339
Do we know where in Fremont she was from? Not all of Fremont is created equal either.

I don't feel comfortable saying their exact ages here, but they are teenagers.
