Continuing on the asthma thoughts...if her inhaler was left at home and she always had it with her:
- something could have happened at her home/in the home and therefore didn't need it anymore
- she had a spare/second inhaler that she took with her (no mention of it being in the Juicy Bag by LE -or not being in it)
- if she was planning on going to Fremont, maybe she has one at her dad's.
- she was just a typical teen and forgot it

in any case it seems like an important detail...JMO

I've been lurking from the beginning and am keeping up with all the posts so I hope I'm not intruding if I ask a question...it's one that just keeps coming up. Here's the scenario: Sierra is dropped off at the end of her driveway Thursday night after school/cheer practice or whatever. The next morning she is carried out of the house by a potential abuctor (why they'd bring her purse and phone is beyond me unless she was met at the front door on her way out) but when the SAR dogs are brought in, would they be able to track her freshest scent from the house to the car? Would they think the freshest scent was the Thursday night drop-off and would the dogs be able to tell she was going from a car to the house? I know nothing about SAR dogs/tracking. I hope this post makes sense...

She was on her laptop

Ok now really color me confused . Phone shuts off at 9 but able to be on laptop at that time of night. Stating to sound like she had a lot of freedom other than the phone. And looks like parents had no idea what was in tumbler or twitter.

First of all, :welcome: to WS. And No, you are NOT intruding.

And YES, a good scent dog is able to track the freshest most recent scent. They are trained to tell the difference between the residual scents from previous movement and the most recent ones.

It makes perfect sense.

My guess is that the tracking dog gets a starting point and follows the trail until it ends (so, no). If they can distinguish to/from with a short distance and short period of time (age of scent), I will be even more amazed and impressed at their expertise than I already am. But our SAR/K9 experts can answer you. :)

As with many cases, we usually don't have nearly enough info before the supposed date/time last seen (for those of us wanting to go further back). Case in point: Lisa Irwin, etc..

I am hoping the net has left a trail to what has happen to her. You can't even be safe in your own home. I can not help but think it might of been someone at school, and checking those absent or came in late.

I had the same thought. Why have parental controls on one but not safeguard the other internet access? FWIW, Dad is a computer engineer.

That was what I heard on a news report last night. Not once but twice. As far as I know I have not heard of any organized ones today and I watched all 3 major networks out here this morning just for that purpose.

BBM.

Apparently not at Sierra's school...links upthread indicate that Sierra's mom didn't know about Sierra's absence from school until early evening (6-ish?) when she received the email from the school.

Whether this means the email wasn't sent in a timely fashion (per whatever the school's policies), Marlene didn't have access to check email from work, Marlene didn't try to access her email until later, or ISP technical difficulties delayed the message being sent or received, who knows?

As someone posted previously, school policies vary, and even moreso, based upon the ages of the children. Unsure whether laws are in place about contacting parents about school absences.

I would be interested in knowing if the school always sent out these kind of notices via email. What would have stopped Sierra from going into her mom's email and deleting an absence notice. ? Because I would bet that she had her mom's pw... I wonder if she had skipped school before since they moved ? MOO And mom had no idea ?? MOO

I can't remember if that was said on a live news cast or in a news story but I do remember it from yesterday.

Doesn't make much sense that they aren't searching today though :waitasec:

Unless Sierra wasn't posting from her house maybe. She might have been at a friend's house or maybe her older sister was home from college and she was using her sister's laptop?

Her sister was at their dads house in Fremont when Sierra went missing. She had just cam home from college on spring break and had talked to Sierra the day before about the weekend .

I know a few parents that do this because kids need computers for homework. FWIW

TY! I KNEW I heard it or read it.
Sgt. Jose Cardoza of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office said: "We're still out here, anything can happen. We could get a lead overnight,in the next 24 hours, a good tip may change everything."
