No, it is in June.

Who in the world comes up with these raves and things and why would anyone think they are a good idea to go to?

I grew up in the Bay Area in the late 60's. We went to huge weekend rock festivals and to Grateful Dead shows and to the Avalon Ballroom in SF. So I have always let my kids attend concerts and raves. They are 19 and 23 now and nothing bad ever happened to them.

Raves are actually really cool if you are a teen. You just need to be safety conscious and go with a close group of friends and stay together. But it is a really fun and exciting experience for a teen type brain. imo.

The cops check EVERYONE for drugs and weapons and alcohol, so you are safe inside the venue. The only drugs are joints snuck in, and liquid E which some sneak in. But if you do not take a drink out of any one else's bottle than you willl be fine, imo. My DD loves DJ's and rap and electronica so she loves to go and dance with all of her friends. That is what being 15 and 16 is all about, imo.

Neither of my kids go to raves anymore. Now it is all about Coachella and Stagecoach. lol

I can't get over it.
He comments about it being open Friday on an article about the Grand Opening last November!

Right when we locate it here!

That was so synchronistic.

Edit to add:
Was it closed for awhile, and is just reopening?
I don't get it.

As far as her social media activity...I have several teen nieces and am friends them on FB, therefore I can see their posts as well as many of their friends' posts, and as different as my nieces are, from three different sets of parents and all living in different cities, I have never come across anything like what was on Sierra's sites. And I am nosy, I check, and read as many of the pages that are public. They all live in suburbs of big cities and attend huge schools. Unless all of the hundreds of girls linked to the pages I can see are the unusual ones, I do NOT think the topics on her pages are "average" or "normal" for most teen girls. The subjects she blogs about are going to attract, IMO, a certain type of friend, as well as certain types of dangerous people. I will be very surprised if her disappearance is in no way related to her postings. JMO

I think it is different in different cliques- I went to a school and all my friends were extremely good. I mean, none of us did any drugs, smoked a cigarette, drank or cussed. In the same school, a year behind me, my sister's friends did all that. So maybe there are a lot of "normals" for teen behavior. We got the "tough" kids, the "cool" the "nerds" etc. for lack of a better desciption.

If Sierra was a cheerleader last year- many of the high schools in CA do drug testing. FWIW.

I won't say she is average, but she does not sound that hugely out of the ordinary either, imo. But maybe that is because I am in Malibu Canyon area surrounded by a lot of kids with too much time and too much $ so they are overly dramatic and overly precocious. They like to shock each other and look hard core when they are not really.

But I totally agree that she might attract dangerous attention that way.

Was she a cheerleader for her school? There was some talk earlier about it being some sort of private cheering squad? Not sure...

Anyway, whether she does the things she posts or not, people reading it will think she does...and might be attracted for the wrong reasons.

I don't know about the private or not cheerleading situation.

Yeah, I wish all the kids would stop posting so much personal info, pictures etc and not just for stalkers. That stuff doesn't go away. It really shocks me when I see drug references, drinking party reference on anyone's page, let alone a kids' page. Some of us were dumb years ago, but we didn't have such a permanent record of it.

Hopefully forensics on the computer will tell LE if any hinky stuff was going on.

But Odd Future (the rap group) has some stuff going on March 24th (new release, maybe?)

I agree...I was an elementary school teacher, and I saw each class had its own collective personality. We (teachers, etc.) followed(s) their progress, explorations, etc. through high school and beyond, and, again, they were/are different class by class.

Thanks, buffetoflies...hence my moniker...IHAVENOCLUE!
Actually...I don't get embarrassed very easily, or at all, anymore. I am desensitized due to my constant exploits!:floorlaugh:

Besides checking to see if any friends were missing that day- they should also check teachers. She could have been talking to a teacher without using electronic devices. No trace. Teacher would know bus routes, etc.

Also, friend's parents, parent's friends, sister's friends, geez. Everyone, I guess. I better go to bed I am getting frustrated not hearing any news.

OH MY GOSH!
GREAT thinking!
With the wave of teacher/student inappropriate activity in the news...this is an avenue that cannot be ignored!
Who has one of the best accesses to young people, who can scope the interests best, and who has the wheels, money, under the radar persona, but teachers!
Makes me sick...but it is a reality!
