But it does not say where they found the items. On twitter I read a report they had found something's in an abandon house early this morning, Theses could be them.

Oh Oh/ If they were found in an abandoned house, then I take back my objections. It might be connected if so. And then it would be a younger perp too, imo. I think an older more established one would have a more secure location.

South Bay search teams looking for clues in the case of missing teenager Sierra LaMar have found two used condoms next to a box marked "handcuffs" about a mile from where the girl was likely abducted nearly two weeks ago.

Thursday afternoon's find would potentially be a major breakthrough in the case that has stymied police over the past two weeks -- or it could be a simple coincidence and another dead-end, investigators said. The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office won't know until the crime lab tests the cardboard box and condoms for DNA and other clues.

"Other than the fact that it's pretty close to Sierra's mom house, there's no indication at this time that it's related," said Sgt. Jose Cardoza. "But we're collecting it as possible evidence."

He added: "This may be another significant piece of evidence but it's hard to confirm that it's related at this time."

A volunteer for the Klasskids Foundation, a missing person's group helping search for clues, found the box and condoms at the end of Palm Avenue, west of Santa Teresa Boulevard in Morgan Hill.

It's about a mile down Palm from the intersection of Dougherty Avenue, where Sierra, 15, was supposed to catch a bus after 7 a.m. on March 16.

Then that would probably be the dead end at the west end of Palm that Ransom zoomed in on. If this is related to Sierra what route would they have taken? I would think throwing the phone out would have been done first but maybe not. Wonder if he/they/she were waiting in their car east of the bus stop watching for her. But, the dogs hit at the end of the driveway.

According to the article- Investigators said they plan to take everything seriously that they find and will not assume they are not connected to the LaMar case. The items are just one of series of items being collected. ( handcuff box and used condoms)
Authorities and search teams have been around the area where the items were found before. Deputies have not said whether the items could have been planted there, but that will also be taken into consideration.-

As to the location it was found-The area, the far west end of Palm Avenue, where the evidence was found is known to deputies for reports of a lot of underage drinking and young people partying, said Santa Clara County sheriffs spokesman Jose Cardoza.-

If this area has already been searched and suddenly very questionable items are found, that is extremely concerning, even if not related to SL. I hope this case isn't taking a turn toward the bizarre.

I love our LE out here. I can't say it enough! But solving crimes in rural areas is rough. I don't like living in places like that....all that land scares the bejeesies out of me. Born in the city, lived in the country a few times and very much prefer city-living. Fremont at one time was voted one of the better cities to live. I don't know why they moved to Morgan Hill from Fremont but my guess would be getting a big house and more affordable cost of living. Maybe they liked living out in the boonies...just don't know. That house and area appears to be very isolating for a teenager.

I agree. It seems unlikely that a box would remain intack after the rain in the past two weeks.

My first thought was that the box was metal. I have never seen a handcuff box. Thank goodness!

It totally could be a sick joke. I can see some (unusual) teen-age boys getting a massive kick out of pulling off a prank like this.

Well, if any of those sick teens are in the system then they are going to be arrested after it is tested, most likely. Then we will see how funny they think their joke really is.:jail:

It would seem that the area around her bus stop would have been one of the first areas searched and they were put there later. And if someone was playing a joke then they should know that it's been reported that her scent ended at the end of her driveway so why put them near her bus stop?

This case is so confusing. It has my head spinning.

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, west of the intersection of Palm and Saint Theresa. A couple of houses/farms at the end of the Road. It is flat, empty land. Wow.

That is NOT a place you would "expect" to find an empty box for handcuffs and condoms.

It could totally be unrelated to Sierra's case, but, man, that is very suspicious.

I agree. It seems unlikely that a box would remain intack after the rain in the past two weeks.

Many boxes are sealed in plastic wrap these days, and most items come in boxes with a glossy coating, both of which add protection from the elements and humidity. They also decompose much slower which is why most recycling plants won't take glossy paper to recycle.

This is the West end of Palm where "items" were found.
Palm Avenue, Morgan Hill, CA - Google Maps

Zoom in and move the map around to the area where that metal building is located and other out buildings/equipment.

But they never said the condition of the box.

More info here:

Santa Clara sheriff deputies confirmed Thursday evening that a volunteer searching for missing teenager Sierra LaMar found an empty box labeled handcuffs and two used condoms near a dead-end road in Morgan Hill.

The Klaas Kid Foundation volunteers have been marking items of interest in a 20-mile radius during their search for the missing 15-year-old. Deputies said they will collect the items and send them to a crime lab for testing.

The area, the far west end of Palm Avenue, where the evidence was found is known to deputies for reports of a lot of underage drinking and young people partying, said Santa Clara County sheriffs spokesman Jose Cardoza

There are 57 RSOs in Morgan Hill. The links are in the SAR thread in the basement here on WS. When I was researching RSOs in some of the neighboring communities, including San Jose (which has 1,225 RSOs, btw), I found some of those RSOs also had last-known addresses in Morgan Hill.

Why can't I find what you are talking about? I can find the SAR by clicking on your link, but basement?, Am I blind? helP

I was also wondering if this person could work as a security guard and posing as someone in law enforcement, to go with the theory of getting her in the car.

The person who posted the link to rapist profiles..... thank you and scary!

Is it just me ? Generally speaking rapists and sexual sadists don't bother with condoms. I think these will come back as totally unrelated.

It just depends on the offender. This would indicate that it likely was either thought about a lot or planned. They usually use them if it is planned. Victimology.

If it was in an old abandoned metal building by an old remote farm, then it might be connected. Because do teens even have to go into old abandoned metal structures these days to have sex? None that I know of would bother with that.
