The human remains found Saturday in the Springville area are those of a homicide victim.

An examination of the skull by the Tulare County Coroner’s Office revealed that the person died of “an apparent gunshot wound to the head”...

Sheriff’s deputies said the remains were discovered at about 3 p.m. on Saturday by a man hiking north of Highway 190 and west of Wishon Road in an area known as The Stairs.

The skeletal remains found above Springville in March belong to a white or white/Hispanic male who was 30-50 years old at the time of his death...

The man is estimated to have been between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 inches tall with brown hair and teeth that were in an advanced state of decay.

The remains of Armando Adrian Taffoya were positively identified Thursday by the Department of Justice, said Sheriff's officials. The 29-year-old Tranquility man's remains were discovered on March 12 near Highway 190 in Springville.
