BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding a missing 38-year-old woman.

************************************
Typical of Kern County Sheriff's Office, they don't say where within Kern County she is from or where she was last seen.

Hoping she is okay, but she has been gone almost 3 weeks.

A bit about Bakersfield, CA - -

Bakersfield is a city on the Kern River, north of Los Angeles. Displays at the Buena Vista Museum of Natural History focus on geology and paleontology. On the city’s northeastern edge, the California Living Museum explores the state’s flora and fauna, and has a reptile house and a touch tank. Northeast, trails wind through the mountains of the Kern River Ranger District, part of Sequoia National Forest. ― Google

Pasting some text from the article linked:
”Kaur is described as Indian, about 5’6” tall, and about 120 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Kaur was last seen wearing a pink velvet sweatsuit and unknown shoes.”

The media is giving out very little info. However I found in Kern County Court records she was arrested in September for Inflicting Corporate Injury on Spouse/Cohabitant and charged under 273.5(A).2012. Bond was set at $30,000 which is pretty high for California, in my opinion. She was arraigned Dec. 15, and the next hearing listed is January 25 It is showing the bail status as exonerated which normally means in legal terms that the legal process (such as a trial) has finished. (note: It doesn't matter whether the defendant is found guilty/innocent or if the case has been dismissed. But since there was a second arrest since then, things may have changed and the record hasn't been updated.

The disposition of that case is left blank so still pending IMO.

She was arrested again in late November. Kern County Sheriff’s Reports, Nov. 23
The California Penal codes under which she was charged include P.C. 245(a)(4) “Any person who commits an assault upon the person of another by any means of force likely to produce great bodily injury shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for two, three, or four years, or in a county jail for not exceeding one year, or by a fine not exceeding ten thousand. . " California Penal Code Section 273.5 "(a) Any person who willfully inflicts upon a person who is his or her spouse, former spouse, cohabitant, former cohabitant, or the mother or father of his or her child, corporal injury resulting in a traumatic condition is guilty of a felony...." (Note, this is the same charge she had in the court records from September, they are two separate arrests) and PC 273a(b) "Any person who, under circumstances or conditions other than those likely to produce great bodily harm or death, willfully causes or permits any child to suffer, or inflicts thereon unjustifiable physical pain or mental suffering, or having the care or custody of any child, willfully causes ..."

I think she's either in hiding, or seeking to avoid prison time IMO. (though harm from the person she injured, or a parent of the harmed child is a possibility).

Note: To find the penal codes, you can google it or use this law reference online source: https://codes.findlaw.com/ca/penal-code/pen-sect-273a/

That makes sense and is a good alternative to something far more scary! Thanks for the info!
