I guess I am just a little surprised that the police aren't urging people to be super vigilant if a predator is on the loose somewhere in Placer county.

I still want to know who, or at least when she was spoke to, or seen last, besides occupant(s) of the residence.
When she wasn't home that evening...did her husband get in the car and go look at Raley's or Target for her/the car too? Did he knock on neighbors door asking if they had seen her?
Why call hospitals, I would assume she had ID and the vehicle had ID, and some form of emergency contact?

Well, they have no evidence of that, really. Nothing that was found in itself shows a violent act took place. It could have been staged if she wanted to disappear, or she may have left things the way they were found if she had a medical episode. IMO it takes a lot for LE to warn the community; maybe if blood or signs of a struggle had been found, or if her cards had been used.

Very true.
And bringing up those credit cards again...why take cards but don't use them? That is strange to me.

This is what makes me think, a little bit, that Susan took them. She would not want to leave them and have a thief find and use them, even if she did not plan to use them or was not thinking clearly.

Why not take her ID, too then? Why leave that? For bigger purchases she would need an ID to prove it was her if she ever wanted to use those cards in the future, and if she was worried about a thief taking them, why not just leave the cards at home, then a thief couldn't use them.

As tiny as she is- I wonder where the seat in the car was positioned?

Basically, I was saying she might have taken her cards, if she had experienced some sort of health episode, not thinking clearly. So not taking her license could fit with that, under the assumption her mind was not clear.

I don't think anyone is doubting she drove and parker car, are they? (As far as the seat position.)

Kjac22 said LE wouldn't tell him too much about the vehicle as it could possibly be a crime scene.
With her purse left in the car (which is unlike her) and her wallet taken out of her purse (which is unlike her) and the vehicle unlocked (which is unlike her), it is possible she could have experienced some mental break, but she had enough of her faculties to arrive at the parking lot to the shopping center, as that is where her husband said she was going to go to. In My Opinion......

Unless she became confused once she got there. If she did have a "spell" of some sort, it could have come on suddenly. But it seems she would have been found by now, unless she does not wish to be. Though even if she didn't want to be found, it is difficult to remain in hiding, IMO.

LE should have forensics on the car by now (they did examine it, right?) and if they are not saying they have evidence of a crime, I am guessing nothing was found.

Right, she could have become confused when she was at the shopping center. And if she left walking on foot, I wonder if videos of surrounding businesses recorded her walking? I would think LE would know somewhat by now because it has been over a month.....

As long as it's been, I would be having a sit-down with the investigators. I would ask what they know and what they don't and what they have done and plan to do. If no answers are forthcoming, then move up the ladder. It IS the family's business. If they are not checking in with family on a regular basis, then call them every day. They have to know you mean business. Now having said that, I'm sure there's more we don't know, and maybe we don't have to. But even WSleuthers can only say so much when nothing new is known week after week. I know this is so frustrating and hard for Susan's family and I hope they continue to be forceful and proactive!

I would think so, too. Even if she became confused and started walking, most of that area is residential/commercial. The "open space" areas are right along Pleasant Grove - behind the aquatic center and Mahany Park. Then, there are huge open space areas up along Fiddyment Road (near where Pleasant Grove intersects Fiddyment). Other than that, though, mostly residential/commercial - and it seems way too long to not have found her if she was simply "confused" or had a "spell," in my opinion.

I'm really impressed with Vjac's vigilance, though - your mom is very lucky to have you looking so hard, and I know we're all hopeful she returns safely before the birth of her first grandchild!

But if cameras should have caught her walking away on foot, seems like cameras should have caught whatever it is that happened to her, yet they did not, in spite of what LE called tons of footage.

I wonder if there is any video footage of her car entering the parking lot or driving on the streets near and to the parking lot, as her car was in the lot.
If she did walk somewhere, maybe she happened to walk where there were no cameras. Maybe there's no accessible video footage of her car arriving in the lot as well?

A couple questions for anyone who may be able to help:
(1) Does anyone have experience with offering a reward for information (e.g. leading to locating a missing person)? I assume I should deal with a lawyer due to the legal issues...
(2) Similar note - setting up a tip line for people to call in and leave messages. The police suggested this, as it sounds like they would want us to deal with the additional volume of call ins related to the reward. I'd like something online where I can check the messages - Google Voice? What have other people done?
(3) Does anyone know any lawyers or similarly experienced individuals who have helped on missing cases in the past who may be able to give guidance? We've talked about a PI, but they'd only really get the same public info we have - and there really isn't much to go on. There are no leads right now.

Thanks all.

Kjac22- have you checked out these links here?
Families of the Missing-Resources, helps, tips - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community
California - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community
Organizations that can help - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community
Links to CA Media Outlets - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

why in the world would they suggest YOU set up a tip line? Whoever the investigating authority should receive and review them for validity and pertinence to the case, in my opinion...whoever is in charge of the case, Roseville or Placer County should be able to provide a number to be used for tips I would think?

I think what he is talking about is a separate tip line which would be handled by family related to the reward. The police are certainly still going to handle any tips given to them through their own tip line.

Kjac, I would seriously consider hiring a P.I. If they are good at what they do, they can ferret out information very well. I also think your idea about using google voice is a good one, as it has many features you can customize, and as you mentioned, the online history of calls and or text messages.

Personally, I am not a fan of PI's. These days they can't locate or accomplish much more than anyone with a computer. And there are many out there that are out to scam a client that is desperate for information on a loved one.

Just be careful is all I'm saying.

Are people in town aware enough about Susan to know to have checked any private video they may have installed on their homes in the blocks surrounding the plaza?

If an honest PI is found, he/she might be able to be useful in looking for things like that, as I don't know much time LE can spend walking the neighborhoods.
