Hi, Liz...
Susan's case keeps me up nights. I feel like she is a lot like me. I have some physical disabilities that also make me more prone to being a homebody and only go out to grocery shop, go to library and medical appointments, for the most part. And to walk, when I can, so I often park far away in lots to get a bit of walking in I would not get otherwise.
If other women had been approached or attacked in the area, one would hope there would be a huge outcry about Susan, yet there isn't. I just can't understand why her disappearance is not making more of a commotion among the senior population, if nothing else. And they are generally a vocal group.
I hope people are not writing this off in their heads as a "domestic" issue, therefore not a threat to their own safety. People, IMO, can be very dismissive of anything that they do not feel threatens them specifically. Of course we cannot say what type of event this is, but there is every possibility that Susan is a crime victim in any case. And yet, not enough people seem to be stirred.
