Religious beliefs? Maybe the family is doing some kind of vigil often and that's their business. I'm not going to criticize Susan's family for not having a public vigil. MOO.

No, me either. Just saying that I believe they mentioned having one, on their page, and we don't know if they ever did. If they did, apparently they did not announce it, that's all. I just understand a vigil to be for awareness. JMO

I'm not too worried if they did or didn't have a vigil. JMO.

Well it is their choice...but they at least remind the community about the missing person, when there seems to be no movement in a case.

I agree...

I understand vigils can be a positive way to bring attention to the person who is missing...

And to provide support from the community to the family whose member is missing...

And to help the community provide support for one another... as they are affected by the disappearance, as well...

All JMO...

I say quickly because the person who edited the photo was probably in a rush when they did it about 4 am the day after she disappeared. There is a small gray line visible on the larger version of the photo which could indicate they were in a rush when they resized the image (or were using limited function image editing software or did it on a small screen).

The angle and pose are typical of being on the floor with a pet or child. However, a child would typically be held closer. But maybe more of a give away is the apparent dog's ear above Susan's right arm and below the baseboard. Maybe I should modify my opinion say a medium to large size dog.

Actually, probably an iPhone 5 shooting at f/2.4 with an ISO setting of 200 (determined the same way as the time and date of editing).

Brilliant! This is very interesting.

Last night I went back and re-read some old posts and articles.
Susan and her husband moved to Roseville from NV in 2006.

Also, let's remember that it hasn't been THAT long that everybody has had phones with cameras. Before that, we all took our shameless (haha) selfies with digital cameras, then uploaded them to the internet! I even had a friend who as late as 2006 was still buying lots of those disposable cameras and taking all kinds of pics, including selfies, getting them developed, and scanning them. That pic could have been taken with a regular camera and not a cell phone. Although if a previous poster found info in the image that identifies it as an iphone photo, that's another story.

BBM thanks for finding that! Longer ago than I thought. I can usually find stuff on here fairly easily but that was eluding me for some reason (so is the graphic design thing.... driving me nuts!). I wonder if she retired when they moved? I don't recall hearing about the timing of her retirement, rumor or otherwise. Is there any reason someone would be upset about her retiring?

Good point on the camera/camera phones too. I'm so old I can remember when cell phones were used to make phone calls, lol. I can see it not seeming that weird for Susan not to have one at all, or only one of those "in case of emergency" prepaid phones.

I keep trying to come up with ideas but they all feel so far fetched. I hate feeling totally lost on what to even do to help find her.

Where are you Susan??

I've been trying to kind of form a picture of her personality in my mind in hopes that it would help somehow. I can so picture her blushing and being really shy about all of us caring about her, but internally being so happy that we do care. I'd love to meet her some day and find out.

Thinking about you Susan. Hoping today's the day we finally get some new news.

In this article from june 12, 2013.........

Her son states:
“She has anxiety about meeting new people."
snipped from the article, and a bit more from the article: (plus more at link below):

"Basically, she never built a huge network of friends when she moved to Roseville … there was some talk about maybe joining a club, but it didn’t happen. It’s just hard for her to try new things and meet new people.”

http://www.placerherald.com/article...ses-fears-around-mother’s-disappearance

So with this being said, now we know Susan does not belong to any clubs as per her son, and he also mentions anxiety meeting new people. But when he mentions that she did not build a huge network of friends, in my opinion, that sounds like she has Some friends, because of the usage of the words Huge Network of Friends in the context of his sentence.

On the other hand, with this quote from the same article........

"He wants those volunteers and the rest of the public to know that, even though his mother kept to herself, she was always there for the people who were close to her."

http://www.placerherald.com/article...ses-fears-around-mother’s-disappearance

it now sounds like to me, she didn't have friends, not even some friends..... so I am not sure how to process that, with how the article is written or how it was said.... and the people that are close to her.......does he mean that she does have a few close friends, or was he referring to Family only??

IMOO.

I was just reviewing some notes...

It was shared by Kjac that Susan doesn't "carry" a cell phone...

But I wonder if she does have a cell phone... Even if she doesn't carry it with her...

There could be some useful information on her cell phone (if she has one)... Even if she does not carry it with her...

I must be missing something - or else I'm truly as technologically handicapped as I've always privately believed... How are you able to determine the date and time when someone resized an image and to determine what precise camera was used, unless you have the original edit of the photo? Most of us have a 3rd, 4th, 5th, or even later generation of a photo - I don't understand how you know this information? Is it truly that simple using basic computer functions readily available to everyone?

Agreed. Hopefully LE has analyzed the phone and it's data/history whether or not it was an item that Susan seemed to carry often.

I know of several people around Susan's age who had a cell phone purchased for them by their adult children. We worry about our parents, and to us it seems much safer for someone to have a cell phone with them in case of an emergency! However, in my experience with this circumstance, the individual the phone was purchased for often neglects the phone and rarely carries it (after all, if they had really wanted the phone or felt they needed one he or she would have simply purchased one themselves).

BUT if Susan was keeping any secrets from her family, the cell phone could contain clues.

We did that for our mother. She wouldn't get herself a cell phone and she and Dad travelled and felt better about her having one. We got her a Trac Phone. She rarely used it.

Re: Selfies. I have never in my live taken a selfie. Personally, I don't understand why anyone would. Kinda narcissistic if you ask me. I see my neices taking them all the time and I just shake my head and feel like they are just full of themselves. FWIW.

Ha ha I have a cell phone but only remember to take it about half the time when I leave the house and almost never use it, except to text husband at work at night. I hate phones and don't have a landline either.

Still wondering where Susan can be.

Me too. Maybe it's just because I've been paying more attention but there has been a ton of crime reported in that general area of Roseville lately too. I still think it's relatively safe, but I feel like I'm getting daily stories about armed robberies near there. (I appreciate but also blame "The Patch"). Was she a victim of one of these stupid pointless crimes?
