You know, this is gonna sound crazy...but... My husband & I were going to talk to our youngest about the Easter Bunny after Easter this year. We had it all planned out to tell him about Santa, too. He just turned 11 & will be in middle school next year. Then I come on here & read all these bad things that happen to sooo many kids that are the same age as my son...& it makes me think about his innocence. Forget telling him about the Easter Bunny. Let him find out on his own. I want him to be a kid for as long as he can!

I SOOO understand wanting to keep our children innocent as long as we can!

So cute about the Easter Bunny and Santa, Jersey*Girl! :santa:

But.... In my experience... Some kids know about the Easter Bunny and Santa before they get "the talk"...

Some kids don't want to let on that they know... Because they are afraid they won't get the treats anymore if it is known that they are no longer believers! :D

Are you sure that he already doesn't know? I think most 11 yr olds have figured out that the Easter Bunny is a myth. JMO

I know that's true because I did it. My niece is around that age and she still strongly believes. She's heard from other kids and places that it's not true she just chooses to believe in them.

Quite possibly, but, hey, if he wants to keep up with the game and be a silly kid, then I say go for it, lol. I still do. :great: Ok, I can't help it I like chocolate...

I don't want to hijack the thread but wanted to say I'm just gonna go along with it. If he wants to continue the charade to humor me, then whose to say I can't humor him back. Lol.

Ok, back to chasing the bad guys...

So, if they said gang unit, in lieu of it being part of Devonshire Community PD, they'd probably be right from both perspectives. I'd think that would be the unit offering the most protection.

Remember during Jessica Ridgeway's case they gathered cellphone data from everyone who was in the park during like a 4 hour window and then went from person to person questioning them?

Can't they do something similar here? Especially since it was super early in the AM, there would be very few people sending and receiving cellphone data at 3AM in the neighborhood.

I am still completely baffled by this case...

But... I have a couple of thoughts/questions...

1.). Could the perps be part of an Aryan Gang/Skinheads/White Supremists?...

Do Aryan gangs have similar initiation rites to other gangs? :dunno:

2.). I wonder if one or both of the perps worked at the Bekins A-1 Moving Solutions where the black truck was found...?

ETA....3.). I believe I have heard of people bullying/targeting individuals with red hair...(Gingers, I believe is the derogatory term) ... Could this have been part of the plan for the attack?...

Just wondering...

I thought about white supremacists. But I couldn't make it work. but that doesn't mean it can't.

poor redheads. my DD is redhead.

I wondered if they could have worked at one of the companies near the house in the industrial/office park area.

"I haven't seen and can't find where they called in a gang unit to investigate, and I'm trying to keep track of all the details. Can you point me to that? When were they called in? Thanks."
Hey All, I mostly lurk and don't post. But I can clarify some information about any gang involvement in this case. There was lots of scanner chatter regarding another completely different event going on at the same time as our sweet girl's reappearance. There was a gang crime going on in another part of the city at the same time. News and scanner chatter was overlapping - I know I was confused for a few minutes until I realized they were talking about two different things.
There was never any announcement that our sweet girl's abductors were part of a gang. That's not to say they weren't - it just hasn't ever been stated by the LAPD or FBI.
I live smack dab in the middle of the goings-on, so I've been following quite closely.

LOL! There's not too much in the way of Aryan Gang activity in the northwestern San Fernando Valley. It's all Salvadorean and Mexican. (I'm not being racist here. It's just that they are the predominant gangs in the area.)

That is exactly what I've been referring to! I just didn't think we were allowed to discuss it because it happened on the scanner thread.

would a white guy get accepted into a latino gang?

Los Angeles has equal opportunity gangs! Anyone could be a part of any gang. Thing is, most of our gangs are centered around a particular neighborhood, or even a particular block. Our neighborhoods are not very integrated so the chance of a white guy living in a Latino neighborhood is not that great. It certainly could happen though.
It still doesn't seem like a gang initiation thing to me. Gangs in this area are into lots of tagging and smashing into poor unsuspecting parked cars in the middle of the night. That's as far as they go with their initiation rites...lots of young, unemployed, bored males.

Honestly I'm still not convinced it's a gang thing. There were things in the scanner thread that made me believe it wasnt. I think the gang unit was busy with something else unrelated, and then when they wanted everyone they could get to keep things under control they were called in to help with protecting the little girl. I strongly believe that when it came to her it was an all hands on deck situation. I have NOT seen anything in media saying that this is just my own opinions and theory.

I've only seen it say that police were watching her, but it would make sense for the gang task force to. In a situation like this they think it's two people, and it is possible they are associated with more or something. I think the gang task force would be far more practiced at protecting people, because don't they do a lot of that? Protecting someone who is turning from the rest of the group, or a victim from being victimized again?

Thank you both very much. I appreciate the clarification. With the scanner thread being closed, I was unable to look and see what had been said.

we can link it but we can't quote it.

I just cant get my head around 2 perps. I guess it's possible. precedence?

why is her house being protected by cops for the foreseeable future? The hospital she as at was locked down immediately while she was there. There has been major protection of her. maybe it's routine. but it seemed like as soon as she was found she needed to be under police protection. makes me think she wasn't supposed to be set free, or was threatened in some way when she was released. I just imagined that if it was a gang and one member set her free, the gang might want her back. but there could be other reasons for the extreme protection.

it did seem like "all hands on deck" and security was tight. pulling her name and face from media may be just for privacy, but added to hospital lockdown, cops at the house for the foreseeable future and the closure of this thread and the scanner thread last night, I thought it seemed that it was more of a security issue.

  • #477
But why does the family have protection for the "foreseeable future" from the gang unit? Is that standard for that area with a crime such as this? Jesus, I'm so thrown off by this. Reminds me of the Jessica Lunsford case. Omg this little girl is so lucky, even though I'm sure she doesn't think so right at this moment.

I think she is so lucky too. I think she was freed by mistake or against the "plan". I get the feeling she is extremely lucky.

  • #478
Honestly I think the hospital lockdown, the house security is largely to protect this child and the family from the media.

  • #479
Thanks for the 'loco' perspective hip2bl7. Have you ever heard the police gang unit to be guarding someone's house? Is this 'normal'?

  • #480
They let her go. They dropped her off. She didn't get free and run. Why suddenly switch and need to finish the job? Doesn't make sense to me.
