CA CA - Tujunga, Hisp/AsianFem 440UFCA, 14-24, wig & St Christopher medallion, Aug'94

I looked at Patricia before and she is saved on my tracked NamUs cases.

I looked on Doe Network and it says she has DNA available. I don't know if that necessarily means it's in CODIS or not? I'm not sure exactly how that works.

If Patricia's DNA is in CODIS, is it correct that she wouldn't be a match to Jane Doe since the ME said there were no matches in CODIS? Or do they only try to find matches within each state? Again, I don't know much about CODIS.

This one is good, too! Such a sad case...

I am not too sure how CODIS works either unfortunately! I think I remember reading somewhere that if an UID's DNA and missing person's DNA are both in CODIS, then they would automatically be compared and ruled out if there is no match? I'm not sure if I've worded that correctly or if it's right at all - perhaps someone on this thread who is a bit more familiar with the process wouldn't mind explaining?

I agree that Jenna is a great possibility.

I looked at this girl a while back and the circumstances about her date of last contact are murky. Different sources say different things. But if the June 7, 1994 date of last contact is correct, she might be a potential match for this Jane Doe. She was hitchhiking from Texas back to her home state of Oregon. Since she and the person driving her could have gone through California, I thought she might be a potential match. Also, Shawna is biracial (Hispanic/White) and she was 14 when she went missing. The height and weight between this Jane Doe and Shawna don't match up exactly, but they're close.

NamUs and Doe Network list her DLC as March 23, 2001. Supposedly Shawna (or her attorney) contacted law enforcement in 2001. Some of the details about that are in comments on the Still Missing Shawna Chavez Facebook page. Here is Shawna's Websleuths thread: OR - Shawna Michelle Chavez 22 missing from Sweet Home, Oregon 2001. Here is her NamUs page: The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) and here is Doe Network: The Doe Network: Shawna Michell Chavez - 3422DFOR

This reeks of domestic violence to me.

Her being Filipino is a good guess if they think she was a possible mix of white, Asian and Latino or Spanish. There are a lot of Filipinos in Los Angeles County. It's a very common area for Filipinos to immigrate to. (My Filipino grandmother immigrated to Los Angeles, and got involved with the Los Angeles Filipino community for the rest of her life. Lots of Filipinos there!) If she was an immigrant the rest of her family may have stayed in the Philippines while she moved to the US (very common - at least from the Filipino families I've met, including my own), and may have been unable to or not knowledgeable about how to report her missing in the US. IMO, this situation would be amplified if she was in an abusive relationship where her partner kept her isolated form her family and friends, which would have been even easier to do if she (or both of them) were from the Philippines and could just excuse her disappearance away as losing contact due to the distance. The band on her left ring finger indicates she was probably at least engaged (probably married, IMO).

Strangulation is very common in DV murders.

I don't understand how her build could both be medium and obese, and 130 lbs. at 5'2-5'6 does not sound obese...so I'm not sure what's going on with that.

Hi there @Sleuth91 and all the others in this thread. First wishing you all a wonderful new year.

I haven't forgotten about this girl.

I came across this sweetie Lori Lee Jealous of Him
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
Lori Lee Jealous of Him – The Charley Project

She is Native American and went missing on 09/01/1989. I'm still confused about the different recons, but Lori's face somehow seems to have the same traits, and IMO consistent with a somewhat Asian look.

I can't see if her teeth are shifting somewhat to the right, like Jane Doe dentals. @victoriarobinson642 would you be so nice to clean up Lori's picture, maybe we can see it then.
  • 13 years old, would have been approx. 18 in 1994. Jane Doe age between 14 - 24
  • Height 5'1 - 5'5, Jane Doe 5' 2"-5' 5"(62-65 inches), Estimated
  • Weight 120 - 130 pounds. Jane Doe 133 lbs, Measured
  • Black hair, brown eyes. Lori's ears are pierced, Jane Doe's ears where pierced
  • Nothing about a scar on her forehead.
I know they managed to subtract DNA from Jane Doe's bones. I'm not sure if there is DNA available for Lori. Maybe it's an easy rule out.

SBM

I agree and as Roman Catholics many wear St Christophers or other religiously symbolic jewellery.

Also very true, and lots of Filipinos are Catholics, though not all - for example, my ancestors were Filipino Muslims from Mindanao :) but it is more likely that, if she was Filipino, she was Catholic.

BTW, getting this notification is making me think about the case again..hopefully I come back with some good thoughts! :P

Could someone name the current exclusion list for this Jane Doe? I'm not from the US so I can't see the exclusions by NamUs.

I've thought the same thing about her build being described as medium and obese, and 130 lbs. at 5'2-5'6. It doesn't sound obese to me either.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge about the Filipino community in Los Angeles County.

I think everything you said about the situation with this Jane Doe sounds plausible!

I'm wondering about the band on her ring finger. It's in a v-shape and in the photo in NamUs it appears to have ruby-colored stones, although I've never seen it described as having ruby-colored stones in any of the online sources like NamUs, NCMEC, Doe Network, etc.

On NCMEC, it's described as having "a single stone." However, in NamUs it just says "1 yellow metal band on her left ring finger" and nothing about any of the stones in the ring. When I talked to the ID Unit with the Los Angeles Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office, they said that the most up-to-date information about this Jane Doe is in NamUs.

Is anyone else seeing what I'm seeing about the ring having ruby-colored stones? Or now that I'm looking at it closer, it could just be dark-colored stones. Or maybe it's just my bad eyesight :/

I think she looks like a good possibility physically! Are you going to submit this as a potential match?

Thank you for bumping, and for caring about Jane Doe!

I'm looking at her Doe Network again, and seeing her clothes descriptors again, and there is no way IMO that she was obese. She was wearing small-sized pants and had an A-cup bra. None of that sounds obese or even slightly overweight at all to me. I would like to know what they were talking about with that because she sounds like she was actually pretty petite.

I see what you see. I am not an expert in jewels, but it looks to me like these stones might be glass colored dark red?

I wonder if the "obese" part might mean that she had a higher body fat percentage than what would be normal for a person of her build.
Do you still have contact with the ME?
Yes, I do have contact with them occasionally but not for submitting matches.

No, problem, I can do that. Wondered if you can give an Email address, so I can send it in.

Yes, it looks like rubies or garnets to me, or glass imitations. Can't tell from the picture.

It also looks to me like half of a "guard" or "enhancer" set. This style: 0.98 Carat Chevron Vintage Wedding Ring Guard With Cubic | Etsy

The one I found is diamond, but they come in all colors of stone, either matching or contrasting. People do wear them as individual rings, but it makes me wonder whether someone ripped her rings off her finger and left the bottom one behind.

Today marks 28 YEARS since Tujunga Jane Doe was murdered / discovered. The anniversary falls on a Sunday this year, as it did in 1994 when she was murdered and discovered.

In this photo, the background is a screenshot of La Tuna Canyon Road, where she was found. I made this for her Facebook page.
