Found Deceased CA - Tushar Atre, 50, tech executive, kidnapped, Santa Cruz County, Oct 2019 *ARRESTS*

Is California a state that releases 911 calls? It’s morbid but I’m so interested to hear that call. This guy has ALOT of people coming out of the woodwork and commenting on his character, good and bad. So strange how he’s either a villain or a saint, no grey area with Mr. Atre it’s seems.

They do, but they’ll likely keep it under seal as this is an ongoing investigation.

Off topic, sorry, but I’m undergoing chemo for breast cancer and I developed a rash on my face. It was on my cheeks, forehead and chin, and felt like how your nose feels when you’ve been blowing it for days and it gets all raw and sore. I have some CBD cream a friend had recommended and on the second day of the rash remembered it, and put it on and it helped so much. It stung the first time I put it on but I held a cold pack to my face to take the sting away, and then by the next application a few hours later it didn’t even sting.

It didn’t completely take the rash away but it made a huge difference I have my 2nd round Friday and I’m going to put the cream on morning and night starting tomorrow and I’m hoping it helps prevent the rash this time or at least minimize it.
Stay strong. Healing thoughts for you, from me.

With THC products it is difficult to wash the money so to speak, as it still illegal on a federal level so people have to figure out what to do with the cash.

Yeah, this is a huge problem. I'm a chemist that worked in the cannabis industry for a few years and the large amounts of cash are a serious issue for all involved. Hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars in cash in safes, duffle bags, etc is very common in the cannabis industry, including those operating in complete legal compliance with their state laws. Banks will close your account if you try to deposit money earned directly.

His instagram shows a few videos at his property in the Santa Cruz mountains, in the comments he says it's in Summit. That's where his body was found. His front door is very distinct and also shown on his Instagram. With this all being on his public social media, anyone could’ve seen it and gotten enough information to know where he lived as well as the general location of his farm.

He has a California licensed toll processing and extraction lab, if you search BCC license search and type his name on their site you can pull up his license. I wonder if they took him to his lab too. THC distillate goes for about $4000 per liter, give or take, in the legal market. Raw extract goes for about half that and both fit easily into bags/buckets/jars and are a lot easier and more convenient to steal than plant material. His website says they have extraction capacity for 1000 pounds of plant material a day, which means the lab is on the smaller-moderate size.

“Case studies” on the website indicate working with amounts of around 30-40 L of distillate, so while relatively small amounts, still that’s six figures $ worth that could’ve been potentially there at any given time. (Cruz Science - Pharmaceutical Grade Cannabis Production, if you click the social media links on the site, they are all in his name)

Since it was a licensed facility, there are pretty strict regulations per the Bureau of Cannabis Control that require cameras. So if they took him there, something will be on camera.

I hope we get some more details soon, so we can get a clearer picture as to what went on here.

What specifically was stolen?
How did this all go down?
Was there any surveillance that captured this event?

This could be a legitimate robbery, it could be some sort of a setup, or it could be something else entirely.

There’s a lot of potential angles here.

Generally, I shy away from the organized crime and drug connections, as despite the fact that things like that happen, more often than not they seem to be unrelated.

They muddy the waters, and mask a more personal crime.

I have a feeling that the complete "saint verse villain" total divide could be based on whether the person interacted with him socially or through business.

Barry Sherman, the murdered Canadian healthcare tycoon, was described as family centered, modest, and fun- unless the circumstances involved business. Then he was said to became a cross between 'Hannibal Lecter' and 'Freddy Krueger'.

Factor in that business was a big portion of his life and the list of fellow humans with negative experiences and by extension, the list of potential suspects grows quickly. It could well be the same with this victim.

Well said.

I believe that general statistics would support your statement entirely. My guess is that if there is a drug connection, it is likely indirect.

My very vague impression is that the legal cannibas industry has produced a harvest glut and small producers are getting squeezed out by bigger operations. Then factor in that a certain number of people may had transitioned from illegal to legal cannibas- but could retain their "illegal roots" in regards to violence potential.

This could lead to a volatile situation where a disproportionate number of people involved have financial problems, and are potentially violent. Then factor in a tendency in some to smoke their own harvest rather frequently- and transition to other chemicals.

The end result: More desperate people doing desperate things. They then learn of a wealthy cannabis dabbler..... .

"A year or so ago, he started a marijuana or cannabis manufacturing company," said Mr Atre's friend, Robert Blumberg.

Grant Palmer, CEO of CannaCruz -- a well-established dispensary -- said: "He's definitely new to the industry. Basically, unfamiliar with the etiquette about how to do business. Unfamiliar with how, you know there are some illegal black market elements in the cannabis industry and if you don't pay them, bad stuff happens."”

Umm the Glass Door reviews for his business are maybe the worst I’ve ever seen. I also then just spent an hour in this rabbit hole and I’ve still not found an update on where the GF is?
Exactly. Not even WHO she is.

I am most curious about the girlfriend. We have her plates, any resources to get more information on her that way?

Sorry for improper titling; first time poster!

Source:

Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office

UNIDENTIFIED BODY FOUND; SEARCH ONGOING.

Atre's girlfriend's car and a yet-unidentified body was found about 14 miles inland from Atre’s home on the 3000 block of Pleasure Point Drive, which is on the coast.

“We cannot confirm the identity of the body that was found yet,” the public information officer for the county sheriff’s office says.

Deputies said more than one suspect kidnapped Atre and forced him into his girlfriend’s SUV. "There is more than one suspect involved,” and that they are “still actively investigating motive of the kidnapping.”

A friend, who also didn’t want to be identified, told KPIX 5 that Atre made enemies over his business deals, and specifically with his company.

However, Glassdoor.com reveals Atre may not have been well-liked by his employees at AtreNet. One poster wrote,”The CEO Tushar Atre doesn’t value anyone, but himself.”

Another poster left a review that said,”Total abusive nightmare! The worst employment experience of my life! You’ve been warned — run away now!”

Welcome nonarosemark :)

It would be very surprising if Atre didn't have video surveillance at his home.

If the motive was vengeance, why not kill him as soon as they entered the house? Why take him unless they were planning to torture him or something.

If the motive was ransom, who did the perps expect to pay the ransom? They've got the guy with the money.

How did the perps get to the house? Did they walk in or drive another vehicle up to the house?

Minor question...How did the perps get the keys to the girlfriend's car and why take her car rather than his? Minor question because it could have been as simple as her keys were lying on a table by the front door.

"Tushar Atre was taken from his home in the 3000 block of Pleasure Point Drive “during a crime” about 3 a.m. Tuesday and was last seen getting into a white BMW, according to a Facebook post by sheriff’s officials.

Hours later, officials updated the post, saying: “We have some unfortunate news. We have found the car associated with this case along with a deceased person.”

On Wednesday, officials again updated the post to say the body had been identified as Atre."

Motive appears to be robbery per Fox Business article.

Who is Tushar Atre? CEO killed after being kidnapped from oceanfront Santa Cruz home

Details finally coming out:

Atre was in his oceanfront home on Pleasure Point Drive in the oceanfront Pleasure Point community outside Santa Cruz early Tuesday morning when multiple people entered the house and took him away him, said Sgt. Brian Cleveland, a spokesman for the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office. There were several other people inside Atre’s home when he was taken.

In a company review titled “CEO is abusive,” another anonymous user said Artre “doesn’t value anyone but himself.” Another review titled “Horrible from the top” describes Atre as disrespectful and condescending.

“When the CEO joined he was extremely vulgar using foul language the entire time. He was very rude and condescending and contradicted himself when asking questions...It only took about 10 minutes of that abusive behavior for me to gauge this guy as a complete narcissistic jerk.”

There have been no arrests in the case, but sheriff’s officials are seeking surveillance video from the public. Anyone with information is asked to call (831) 471-1121.

Now that we know there were "several" people in the house, and "several" nefarious actors who entered at 3AM... makes a forced entry all the more difficult to believe. But they're still printing this as a robbery?

The article seems to confirm that some in the cannabis industry have rough edges, or perhaps very rough edges. A good number of people with those types of back grounds also place a big emphasis on respect / disrespect and “customs”. Breaking a “custom” can mean causing a disruption and also giving disrespect.

The same aggressive business practices that are perfectly legal and acceptable in the “straight” world can have serious consequences in other environments- especially if they break unwritten, but supposedly well understood "customs" and respect / disrespect etiquette. The cannabis industry seems to be one of those environments.

In short, the victim could have presumed that the software and cannabis industries operated the same because both are legal. Though both industries are legal, cannabis industry may mix some "biker" type customs and respect / disrespect concepts with people willing to do more than post bad Glass Door reviews.
