Investigators searched Rincon's apartment and found what they believe is the knife used to attack Noah. "I can tell you that we recovered a steak knife. It's the kind people would normally use at the dinner table," said Newton.

This article has a video in the upper right hand corner with pictures of little Noah. He is absolutely adorable.

No word in the articles on how he's doing. Just still says in critical condition :(

i will say we are seeing some amazing kids here. josie, amanda, the baby that was nearly choked into being brain dead. noah.

disgusting that they have to be so strong and brave while so little, but amazing the courage to hold on.

edit: oops, forgot nadia!

Is the 2 month old that was found in the apartment also her child? My first thought was post-partum psychosis, but the I saw the bit about the mixture of drugs.

I think there could possibly be a PPP element - it wouldn't be the first time someone tried to manage psychosis with drugs.

Here's little Noah:

i cant stop crying, that poor baby he is beautiful

Ya know, if this had been a man that commited such horrifics acts against a child.. I don't know how many of us would care if he was on drugs or was diagnosised with a mental illness?

Noah is such a beautiful child. I pray for healing, safety, recovery in his life.

angel probably because a lot of peeople cant concieve that a sane and/or sober mother could do such a thing.

yet we see daily how they leave there kids to be abused/molested/murdered by there boyfriends/husbands, so why does it shock us when they do it themselves?

I have a couple questions...

Where's dad?

Wasn't this the rationale for legalizing abortions? So people who didn't want kids wouldn't have to have them, thus no more child abuse?

Everytime something like this happens, I wonder why, if she didn't want them, or him, why didn't she just take him to a family member, or csd?
Why this?

Poor Noah, "Mommy"
May someone love him with all their heart, forever!!!
His mom should have been that one, where's daddy?
Where the he** is daddy?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

moo

Some people have kids just to get more welfare $. That's probably the case here. If she would've had an abortion, she wouldn't have an income.
No income means no drug money.

This one seals it. I am bawling like a baby here at my desk @ work.

I was considering the toll this forum takes on my state of mind daily and whether it might be a good idea to break away, or take a hiatus. "quite frankly" (purposeful poke at Jose Baez' expense) I think if I did that I would go koo koo for coco puffs.

But I may pull back some and go back to lurking occassionally rather than the frequent poster I have been of late.

Prayers for that poor child to recover and know love and stability. Prayers that he is able to trust again after such a horrific attak by the one person he should have been able to rely on.

Fighting for Custody of 3-year-old Stabbing Victim
Last Update: 5/11 10:05 am

In a CBS47 exclusive, Kathryn Herr speaks to the lawyer of the little boy’s aunt.

Now Rincon’s sister wants to take custody of Noah and his 2-month-old sister.

Attorney Jennifer Walters said, “She would like to diligently work with CPS and the courts to work at the best interests of the children and provide a potential safe environment for them in the future.”

Noah's aunt, Teresa Kent, is a nurse in New York.

I'm not so sure about the bbm. LE always looks into a persons mental health history in crimes like this. Be they male or female. Taking into consideration this woman had a 2 month old baby at home, I would immediately think some type of postpartum mood disorder was possible/probable. It's not an excuse but something would be amiss if we didn't look at these possibilities. Some people really are too ill to know what they've done is wrong. I don't know if that's the case here. I just believe it's possible considering the age of her youngest.

The only difference here is that men cannot suffer postpartum mood disorders. By and large, men and women who are accused of such awful crimes are evaluated for mental health.

Prayers for Noah. Stay strong, little fella.

Here's hoping this beautiful little boy continues to improve and to someday be happy. I'm relieved the 2 month old won't have to be her next victim.

This part of the article is confusing me:

"A public defender represented Rincon in court Friday, but told the judge his office would decide over the weekend whether it had the resources to defend her.

"Last week, the public defender's office withdrew from the case of Gabriela Espinosa of Fresno, who admitted she drowned her 2-month-old son in a motel bathtub."

I didn't know public defenders even had an option to pull out of cases...can someone explain that? And what happens when they do?
