Wow, it's been three years since I've posted in this thread and apparently no sign of Cody. This is a strange one. I was alerted to come look at the thread when savemecastiel liked one of my posts from three years ago....

I'm one of those people who believes in the universe giving us tips, if we listen hard enough. There is some reason I was drawn back to this thread, but I have no idea why. Perhaps Cody is about to make himself known? I hope so for his parents sake. Where are you Cody?!

Just listened to the Vanished Podcast episode on Cody. I had to come and check on his thread. Where is Cody?

This happened about 10 miles from where I live. I'm not sure how to link google maps but the coordinates for where Cody went on his hike are about here: 38.7687495728137, -120.49786611693345 if you can figure out how to paste them into maps.

The reason there are cabins out there is the ridge is former Blair family logging property before it was sold to Mich-Cal which is now SPI. The Blair mill is now gone but there are maybe 20+ properties out there including the Matthews cabin. I think Cody went on a hike to the old Brockliss bridge abutments down in the canyon, maybe went for a swim in the river. The cabin intruders returned while he was gone. Cody walked in on them after his hike and the encounter did not go well for him. One of the families web postings mentioned scent dogs following a trail up the ridge to an endpoint, which was the same trail found by a mantracker. Cody was probably chased up the trail and shot at the point indicated by the scent dogs. He was a big guy so it would have taken at least two people to get him into their vehicle so more than one person knows where he is.

I've often wondered if there was a bad property out on that ridge and Cody recognized the intruders. I think this is one of those cases where the family and investigators know a lot of back story that never made it out to the public. I hope the guilty parties in this case are held accountable and the family receives closure some day.
