The flyer translates as follows:

My family was from La Blanca
The year was 1980
Do you recognize me?

I was the victim of a homicide in July of 1980 near los Angeles, California, USA. The man who murdered me is in prison for killing me and another woman.

I was five months pregnant at that time. The father of my unborn child has been located. He is a Honduran whose name is Rene, and during that year, he lived west of Downtown Los Angeles near the corner of 9th Street and Westmoreland Avenue. He is not believed to have anything to do with my murder, and he has no known connection to the killer, but he says he does not remember me, or know who I was.

The genealogical investiation based on my DNA, performed by a non-profit organization called DNA Doe Project, has revealed that my family has very strong connections with La Blanca, Bajio de la Tesorera, Zacatecas.

I might have close family members with the surnames Parga, Chavez, Aleman, Anaya (or Amaya), Lira, Ramos, Navarro, or Ortiz.

If you believe you might know my identity, please contact Steve Rhods of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.

AMAZING! Thank you Carl and Detective Rhods!
I sent this poster to a Facebook page dedicated to the town of La Blanca, Zacatecas. I hope the person running it sees this.
FANTASTIC!!! Thank you!

I sent the poster to Mexican news channels with ties to Zacatecas (Tropico de Cancer Zacatecas, NTR Zacatecas, Televisa Zacatecas) via Facebook Messenger. Two of them (Tropico and NTR) saw it. I hope I see the poster on their Facebook feeds soon.

I'm not sure if this can be said publicly, but I am curious how closely the relatives found from La Blanca, Zacatecas were related to her. I'm excited to think of how close of a lead DNA Doe Project may be onto! The La Blanca area appears to be pretty small in population and I assume was smaller pre-1980, so I'm hoping some good leads can turn up. So glad to hear there's been good progress towards a more specific region.

It is very probable that at least two of her four grandparents are from La Blanca. A parent or both parents might also be from there, but we are pretty certain about the grandparents.

Another thing to keep in mind is that La Blanca was a silver mining town. Northern New Mexico and a few other parts of Mexico where we see ancestral clusters are also known for silver mining. So I am guessing that her ancestors were in the silver mining industry, and migrated to and from areas where there were silver mines.

This silver mining lead is a good one, I feel. 100% pure speculation here but maybe she was from New Mexico and moved to LA in her teen or early adult years. Again, just speculation I'm throwing out there. I'm probably wrong because I usually am. Excited for progress! We know DNA Doe will bring home Lyra Jade!

She will be identified soon, I feel it in my heart...

I shared the Spanish language poster on my Facebook. I think my Mexican friends are from Jalisco, not Zacatecas, but maybe they know somebody...

This is probably me being me, but when I ran a California state inmate search on Wilson Chouest, it showed him as being located at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility, which confused me. When I clicked on the test saying "California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility", it brought me to a page that listed itself as "California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison, Corcoran (SATF-CSP, Corcoran)" with an address of 900 Quebec Ave. However, Google shows Corcoran State Prison has an address of 4001 King Ave. Can someone in the know clear this up for me? Where is he located?

She was raped and murdered by a serial killer named Wilson Chouest. Wilson's DNA was inside her.

The father is not a suspect.

Hi, I was actually the one who wrote this post! :) There's been a lot of activity in this thread recently, so I'd recommend going back to read the last 10-15 pgs. of the thread for context if you have some spare time. The baby's father has been ID'd. He is alive and he is not a suspect, he had nothing to do with the murder. The murderer is named Wilson Chouest and has been in prison without the possibility of parole since 1980 (5 months after Lyra Jade's murder) for a series of rapes and robberies. He was connected with Lyra Jade's murder through DNA taken from her rape kit matching his DNA, and it was tested multiple times to be sure (AFAIK, it was the same story with Shirley Soosay who he also killed). He officially was charged with her and Shirley's murders in 2015 and he worked alone. So nope, the father is not a suspect.

Thank you. I have just started to look into this.... I found a person who looks what i see as identical... even from first glance.... But the missing girls post does not state she was pregnant or had a pregnancy prior.... Nor would anyone think. this baffles me because it looks like her.
A lot of scenarios going thru my head, but no evidence. yet.

Does it happen to be Laura Maria Hernandez? She does look a lot like Lyra Jade, but she's been ruled out by DNA Doe and CODIS.

Pic from Charley Project.

I do not feel she was ever reported for whatever reason it may be.

I'd like to hear some of your scenarios or theories! :)
