"The last radar hit on the plane showed it was flying southwest over the water, about 70 miles offshore, around 2:45 a.m., according to Allen Kenitzer, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman."

"Update: A U. S. Coast Guard spokesman said the plane sent out an emergency signal at 2:45 a.m."

Sounds like he might have ditched it in the ocean. SUICIDE maybe?

But if this is a suicide couldn't he have found a better way to go? Just think if he did crash and didn't kill himself he would just be out there as food for the sharks or die by drowning.

I think he called in an emergency signal to make everyone think he went down in the ocean. Instead he's laying in the sun on a sandy beach drinking a pina colada instead of showing up at his court date.

Where is William James McAdams?

It's a question that remains unanswered a month after the 24-year-old flight instructor allegedly stole a single-engine plane from the Palo Alto Airport and literally disappeared into thin air.

"All we really have is a stolen plane and a missing person," Detective Sgt. Brian Philip of the Palo Alto Police Department said in a recent interview. "That's all we really have to investigate at this point."

Wow still nothing. Should we take a poll? I'm inclined to think suicide..but gosh it seems an odd way to do it.

Is there always some sort of evidence floating if a plane crashes in to the water?

No there's not. It depends how the plane enters the water. If it breaks up then you'll have floating debris.

Interesting case.

Is it possible he or someone he knew was tech savvy enough to make the plane's signal drop? I agree he's out there. The upcoming (now passed) court date is too suspect.

i think suicide is a possibility. his case was abuse of a partner and these ppl tend to spin out of control when they "lose control" of the partner. if charges were filed she probably left him. which sent him into a bad head space.
