At about 11:42 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, deputies from the Twin Peaks Station responded to a report of a deceased person in the area.

An autopsy was conducted the following day, revealing injuries consistent with a fall. The woman remains unidentified, and detectives are continuing their efforts to confirm her identity.

She is described as a White female adult, approximately 25 to 35 years old, who was wearing blue pants, a blue sweatshirt, and white tennis shoes at the time she was found.

Age was updated in this news report and seems more likely when looking at the sketch.

The unidentified woman, referred to as Jane Doe #162-25, is described as a female between 48 and 60 years old, standing 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighing approximately 115 pounds. She had bleached blonde hair, brown eyes, and no tattoos. She was wearing a blue sweatshirt, blue pants, and white and black New Balance shoes.”

Anyone from this area know how likely one is to hike out there without a car? I assume if she was from Crestline she would have been identified already.

This woman is 5'1, Angela Kewish is 5'7 - thought it might be her but the height difference is substantial.

from @charminglane 's link

Officials say the body is that of Aryan Papoli, a 58-year-old resident of Newport Beach who had previously been reported missing.

I am glad she was so quickly identified.

the news report says it was not immediately disclosed how recently she had been reported missing, only that she had.

however, if some instragram posts i found are referring to the same person, she won student of the month at some dance school as recently as october this year, and it was posted on 11/3. seems likely she would have been alive and seen by people in classes during october for that to happen.

yes, I get the feeling she wasn't missing for a long period. Probably what aided in them being able to put together a likeness and get her identified so quickly. Prayers for her loved ones.

I believe this is her Facebook.

The couple photos she posted of herself are old and her hair is different, but I can see the resemblance to the sketch.

According to the LA Times she was reported missing 4 days after the discovery

“Newport Beach Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Steve Oberon confirmed a missing person’s report was filed with the department at 4:50 p.m. on Nov. 22 — four days after the discovery in Crestline — but could not provide further information.”

Wonder whether they found her car up there at all…considering it’s almost 2 hours away from Newport.

Aryan is Persian I believe and loved being in nature. What a tragic loss for her family.

That is a little strange that she was reported missing four days after the discovery of her body.

Maybe she was separated from her husband? I think he'd notice before 4 days if they were living together?

Did she tell anyone she was going up to Crestline alone to hike?

Something seems fishy.

Had anyone heard of this Stroll magazine... seems like a franchise, but new to me.

I really am perplexed about her being declared missing after the discovery...
Why is this?

the bold is what i'm wondering. as well as whether she had any known reason to be in crestline, 2 hours from where she apparently lived (newport beach) and worked (palo verde). and whether her car has been found nearby.

IMO, it's not hard to imagine an accident here. the initial report is that her injuries appear consistent with a fall. the area where she was found (news report: "the area of State Highway 138 and Crestline Road") is scenic, and has several bars, restaurants, and residences nearby. you could imagine her being there, either for a solo hike or to visit friends, and accidentally falling for one reason or another. maybe she got too close to the edge while watching a sunset and slipped or lost her balance. or maybe a car came by a little too fast or close, she stepped back to avoid it, and stepped too far or tripped over the barrier.

if she still lives with her husband and he wasn't out of town, etc., then the 4+ day delay in reporting her missing would be a little fishy. also fishy if her car isn't nearby or she has no clear reason to be in crestline.

I'm in agreement with your post. What was she doing in Crestline? In that Stroll magazine article she made mention that while her husband likes the trails she prefers walking in town. From her own words this walk seems unusual to me.
