CA - Woman’s Body Found Down Embankment in Crestline; Authorities Seek Help Identifying Her

Also from the LA Times article...

Despite his willingness to speak with the media, the graduate student declined to comment on the nature of his mother’s disappearance, the discovery of her body or details about how or when the family learned of it all, citing the pending investigation.

Has there been any statements about how long the authorities believe she had been dead?

The date of body found, and the missing person report (WHAT family member made this report?)

This statement is from the above article with her son.....
I read this to say Aryan moved by herself to Newport Beach.
The husband-and-wife duo moved to Southern California, where they raised two sons. Papoli moved to Newport Beach six months ago, seeking a serene place where she could thrive creatively in her retirement from the corporate world, her son said.

I am just sensing this was not an accident at this moment..... but obviously only moo at this moment...
i just need to know where her car is, and WHY
Good catch.
And I've had the same vibe that this was not an accident.

Well that says a lot.
I wonder how long she had been down that embankment. Hopefully we will learn more about the time of death from the ME. I hope we stay updated on this.

Newport Beach to Crestline is still about 1hr 30min. I expect she drove and if her car isn't there then someone else drove her...

I've been reading...but I don't see where it says who found her. The police?

I think it was reported to the police by someone who saw something they thought was a deceased person. I actually called 911 once because I couldn't tell if the (probably homeless) man I drove by was alive or dead. But since it was a tip there is no reason to clarify who it was unless that person somehow wants to give an interview with the news and let's the news know that.

I'd think if it was a family member we would have heard that by now. MOO

Your links are behind a paywall, so I can’t access details. Does the son mention hiis Dad at all?

May not work with some paywalls, Knox but worth a try.

If you go to the article you are trying to read, in the address bar, delete everything before www. And replace with archive.is/

So address now begins archive.is/www. Etc

Most articles on the www are archived.

Sometimes takes a few days for them to appear. Hth :) ?

I still have so many questions.

If she had decided to drive up to Crestline for a day hike, I'd think she'd tell someone her plans. A friend or relative, or the housekeeper or hairdresser or neighbour?

When someone first noticed she was missing and decided to ask around, someone could/would have said---" Oh, I think she was going hiking yesterday?" or something?

Or at the very least, LE would have found her car up near the hiking trail. I haven't heard any mention of that yet.

I've found no recent mention of her husband but in recent family photos he is present. So I think others are correct that she may have just recently moved to Newport Beach on her own.

I'm now wondering if she maybe met someone on a single's site and went on a nice date with someone new? Driving up to Crestline for a day hike and early dinner?

No mention of the Dad at all.......... and as is in the LATimes article.... it states SHE has recently moved to the house in Newport Beach... insinuating she was NOT with husband .

I was actually surprised I could read the whole article... I had thought that the LATimes was always paywalled.

Did that Archive suggestion work.... that is really good to know.

Does it always work???

Were you able to read the LATimes article/

I found the language a bit curious.... the one son , a graduate student all the way back in Boston is doing all the talking, even announcing the setting up of a website in her honor.

BUT, as stated by the journalist, Navid would not talk about any of the details of her death...

That would be the https:// protocol that's meant to increase security.

(Also, I think this death was almost certainly an accidental fall and people are reading too much into small details).

I guess I would like verification that she was a hiker...
As far as I know so far......... there has been no explanation of why she was in a remote area 1 1/2 hours away when she has always lived in heavily populated suburban areas....
I just hope I have missed some information... to say otherwise.

I found some interesting information regarding a home in Rolling Hills, CA. Since purchased in 2017, deed on said home listed both names (husband/Aryan). In September 2025, through an interfamily transfer/resale - his name was removed. He was listed as seller, she the owner.

Aryan's address on that document is listed as a residence in Corona Del Mar. She had a real estate license from 2006 to 2018.

Further, I found she owns a parcel in Crestline, off Chateau Drive. She purchased it in a tax sale in 2013. So maybe that's why she was in Crestline. From the location her body was found, to the property she owns is less than five miles.

I agree, I'd be very surpised if Aryan's death involved foul play.

Maybe it was an accidental fall. All I need to convince me is to learn that LE found her car in the parking lot and they have some cctv somewhere ---for example, showing her eating breakfast, alive and well, all alone as she drives to the lovely hiking trail.

I am only questioning things because I have not heard anything yet about how she arrived there, and who, if anyone, knew she was driving 2 hours to go on a solo hike.

The other thing that niggles at me----Newport Beach is one of the most beautiful areas in Southern California. If she wanted to take a beautiful hike she could go to Crystal Cove Trail, Pacific Ridge Trailhead, Newport Bay Nature Reserve, etc.

All gorgeous hiking trails minutes away from her home. Why did she drive 2 hours to hike alone in Crestline? What made her go there specifically? Was she meeting someone there?

Because if she just wanted to go on a beautiful outdoor trail, there are a dozen of them very close to her own home. r
