This is gonna sound odd -- but looking at the path it does seem for lack of a better word psychotic. By that I mean by all reports it was busy the on off random passing lots of people crossing the street there is chaos in his choices if that makes sense .

it was def a street with one establishment after the other -- the distances are very pecullar imo

were there periods where he was running or being chased by cops before the final encounter

I have had a hard time today getting a comprehensive over view of what transpired - kinda frustrating to be honest

Witnesses described ‘carnage’ after Toronto mass shooting, says gunman was ‘zigzagging the Danforth’
"Mantzios said the gunman “executed” a woman as she was trying to flee the area, adding the gunman shot the victim multiple times as she lay on the ground."

"The guy … had this look on his face, while I saw his profile, like he was screaming at something and shooting,” Mantzios said."

“He was shooting randomly to kill as many people as possible and my friend he saw him change the clip, he emptied the first clip and put in a second one and kept continuing shooting,” Mantzios said."
He was literally zigzagging, just one guy, zigzagging on the Danforth, going from the south to the north, and wherever he would just start shooting,” the witness said.

Seven miles, but it's a different section of the city. You're thinking of the warning a few weeks ago? If they said CN Tower and Rogers Centre no one would have thought that included the Danforth.

Suspected Danforth shooter’s family cites psychosis, ‘severe mental health challenges,’ after SIU identifies him as Faisal Hussain, 29, of Toronto | The Star
"Chief among the questions now are what motivated the gunman, and how he got a hold of a handgun — particularly in light of his family’s claims he suffered from psychosis. The family’s statement said the interventions of professionals were unsuccessful in helping him, and medications and therapy “were unable to treat him.”

"Khalid Malik said Hussain had a sister who died several years ago in an accident, and has a brother who has been in a coma in hospital for the last year.

Mirza Baig, a long-time resident of the building, said Hussain’s father was also sick and possibly suffering from Parkinson’s.

Malik described Hussain as a quiet man he would sometimes run into on the street. The two would shake hands and Hussain would give him a cigarette but never said much."

A systematic review of depression and mental illness preceding Parkinson's disease

Depression has been reported in several studies to be more common in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients than in the general population, and there may be overlap in the pathophysiology of the two conditions.

I want to hear from a/his Dr., not his parents/family about his mental illness/psychosis. I never trust what family members say when they are talking about a “loved” one that is now a suspect.

What drove Toronto shooting suspect to unleash violence on the Danforth? | The Star
"A statement from the alleged killer’s family late Monday pointed to Hussain’s lifelong struggle with “severe mental health challenges,” including “psychosis and depression.”

"But Hussain also shared a characteristic in common with many mass murderers, one that has received particular attention in the wake of a string of explicitly misogynistic attacks: he was male."

"There is nothing to suggest the Danforth shooter had any link to the incel community. But what we do know, said Michael Kaufman, the sole male member of the G7 Gender Equality Advisory Council and co-founder of the White Ribbon Campaign — a worldwide network engaging men to work to end violence against women — is that men who carry out such acts feel a sense of entitlement to take away the lives of others."

“Whatever his excuse or rationale, the way he justifies this act, whether it’s his politics or individual hatred of women or something else, we see … a man who feels that he can play God,” said Kaufman, stressing that the overwhelming majority of men do not commit acts of physical or emotional violence."

Where did Hussain get the handgun?

Guns smuggled from the U.S. fuel bloodshed in Canada

Homicides in Toronto spiked to 80 in 2005, from 64 in 2004, and the majority were shooting-related. About 70 percent of the guns used were handguns and automatic weapons smuggled from the United States, police say.”

“Calls to mind the proposed construction of a wall and fence along our southern border to halt illegal immigration from Mexico.”

“Because it appears we are doing to Canada what Mexico is doing to us.”

Illegal guns sourced in Canada surge compared to those smuggled from U.S | CBC News

Before 2012, about 75 per cent of the firearms were trafficked from the United States. By 2017, however, about half originated from domestic sources, putting an end to the idea that most of Canada's illegal guns come from across the border, Det. Rob Di Danieli of the guns and gangs unit said.

Lol, people don’t own handguns in Canada. This article is speaking about hunting rifles.

Earlier Monday, Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders said he would not speculate on a motive but did not rule out terrorism. Toronto Councilor Paula Fletcher said the attack was "not gang related" and that the gunman shot "indiscriminately" into restaurants and into a park.

Toronto shooting suspect identified as Faisal Hussain, family says he had 'severe mental health challenges'

The 13 wounded ranged in age from 10 to 59, and suffered injuries ranging from serious to minor, Saunders said. He did not name the victims, who included eight women and girls, and seven men.

I'm missing that in the article. Can you provide the quote?

I have lived in Canada my whole life. Nobody has a handgun.

Thanks. I'll go with the info in the article I posted.

An update on motive from the Toronto Sun:

WARMINGTON: Was Danforth attack terror, or terrorism?

"Meanwhile, my law-enforcement sources confirm investigators are looking at every avenue — including a potential jihadi-inspired mission.

Files being reviewed by police include concern Hussain expressed “support” for a website that was seen as “pro-ISIL,” says a law enforcement source.

Sources say police in Toronto and CSIS officials in Ottawa, as well as the RCMP, are looking into his past, which sources say include his residence in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

What law enforcement is saying is that the attack was planned, and Hussain was “well known to Toronto Police” for investigations into past crimes “involving weapons and violence.”

While some friends said he was “not at all radical,” others said he was more interested in Islamic discussions “when there were more people around.”
