80-year-old Canadian mom with Alzheimer’s raped by tourist at Bahamas hotel: ‘Unspeakable’

A 61-year-old Nova Scotia man has since been charged with the rape of an 80-year-old woman at the location, according to local reports. He was denied bail and could face life in prison if convicted.

Like most of us here, I watch a lot of true crime and I find myself aghast at the horrible, dehumanizing, monstrous things that some people are capable of---I just cannot comprehend how the human species is so flawed---

Exactly this. No one just wakes up one day at 61 years old and thinks, "You know what I've always wanted to do? I'm gonna go for it today!" Criminals escalate, so if he was bold enough to just grab her right in front of her family like that, I'd bet my lunch he's gotten away with horrific things in the past that gave him the boldness to do this.
