A search is underway for an autistic child missing in the Clarenville area.

RCMP and Ground Search and Rescue are actively searching for the child. They are also asking residents in the area to check their properties and vehicles, if possible.

The Clarenville RCMP is asking for the public's help in locating eight-year-old Adalyn Skinner. Adalyn has autism spectrum disorder. She was last seen running in a wooded area of Random Island at 3:45 pmIf you see Adalyn, please contact the RCMP immediately at 709-466-3211.

UPDATE: Clarenville RCMP advises that Random Island is now limited to local traffic and essential personnel only.

As the nighttime search continues, the increase of people in this area who are not associated with search efforts of Triple Bay Eagles Ground Search and Rescue, Discovery Trail Ground Search and Rescue and police may interfere with efforts and technologies being used to identify possible locations for Adalyn.

We ask that residents continue to aid in the search by inspecting their properties and vehicles.

It looks like it was in the 40s F in that area last night (source: Accuweather). I'm glad it wasn't any colder, but that's definitely cold enough to drive a lost child to seek shelter somewhere (relatively) warm. I see in the articles linked above that LE has people inspecting their property. I'm hoping that she found somewhere safe to hide out. MOO.

Omg ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Not used here as far as I am aware but -
For everyone reading - project lifesaver is a program in many areas (international) that offers a gps/radio frequency type monitor bracelet that is linked to the police department. The bracelet cannot be removed. Qualifiers are different for different areas but often cover cognitive needs or ASD. Check to see if your area has it if you have a loved one with a need.

Wonderful news!!! {Project Lifesaver should be made available to all needed children and paid for by provincial government!
Yep I agree - it should be a federal program here for certain criteria but it never will be because well, US. It’s up to local contracts to bring it in.
