''The video release on Friday, Feb. 18, marks the two-year anniversary of when 18-year-old Alex Tobin was shot and killed at an apartment around 1:07 p.m. on King St. East in the village of Omemee.

Police say witnesses have described two suspects that were seen fleeing the building on foot and then departing the area in a motor vehicle on Highway 7.

Two men were initially taken into custody, however, the charges were later withdrawn, OPP said.

Det. Insp. Chris Josiah told reporters that investigators believe the killers came to Omemee from Toronto, 130 km away, on that chilly day.
But he said he doesn’t see the big city violence that visited the Kawartha community that day as part of a wider trend.''

''Josiah added that the deadly encounter was not part of a large organized crime ring and was strictly small time.
“It was an illicit marijuana deal gone wrong,” the 25-year police veteran said.
On Thursday, cops released new dashcam video and still photos of the two suspects who were captured fleeing the murder scene on foot. They then fled the area on Hwy. 7 in a dark-colored sedan.''

''One suspect is a black male with braided hair, average height, and wearing a blue, hooded sweatshirt, a ‘Moose Knuckle’ winter coat, and black Nike-brand Air Force One running shoes.''

''The second suspect is described as a black male, wearing a blue hooded winter jacket and prescription eyeglasses with “uniquely-shaped frames.”

Detectives also released a second video from March 3, 2020, depicting three suspects in Scarborough’s Murison Park in a black Audi sedan. Two of the men are seen on foot transporting what’s believed to be discarded evidence connected to the Tobin homicide.''

''Three more people have been charged in connection with the 2020 shooting death of Alex Tobin, Ontario Provincial Police say.

Tobin, 18, was shot in a King Street East apartment east of Toronto in Omemee, Ont. in February 2020. Suspects were seen leaving the apartment building on foot, police say, before getting in a car and driving off on Highway 7.

Last month, OPP released suspect descriptions, video and photos to the public.

Police have since charged a 21-year-old Oshawa man with accessory after the fact to murder. The man will remain in custody and is scheduled to appear at a court in Lindsay, Ont. on June 23.

A 76-year-old man and a 31-year-old man, both of Ajax, were also charged with two counts each of party to the offence of failing to comply with release conditions. Both men have been released and are scheduled to appear in court on June 23.''

Man wanted in connection with Omemee murder was target in Toronto playground shooting

A suspect wanted in the 2020 murder of a Kawartha drug dealer was the target of a botched hit in a Scarborough playground.

''The newest suspect wanted in connection with the 2020 murder of a Kawartha teen was the target of a notorious botched hit at a Scarborough playground that sent two children to hospital with gunshot wounds, the Toronto Sun has learned.''

On Wednesday, OPP issued a Canada-wide warrant for 29-year-old Clinton “Trizzy” McDonald, of no fixed address. He is charged with accessory after the fact to the murder of Alexander Tobin.

The 18-year-old was shot to death at his girlfriend’s Omemee apartment in February 2020 when an apparent drug deal came off the rails.''
