Anyone watch True Crime Canada "Inside the Rafay Family Case"? It was aired tonight on CBC. I had no idea this show existed.

Just tuned in for the last 15 mins, will watch for repeat. Do you have thoughts on this? I just read the premise...

I know the question isn't to me but I find this type of culture (not the nationality but the "honour killing" culture) backward. I saw the ad on the cbc news site and skipped it.

bit of a derail, but what's with this weird hub of jihadists in Calgary, I think there might be a thread of it on websleuths,, crazy-crazy-crazy.

short bursts with the gun wrapped in a blanket for extra suppression. nothing seems to be off the table in this discussion. the community of temple in relation to airdrie

Temple, like many NE communities have a high gang presence; specifically, Asian gangs. These gangs are known for their propensity towards automatic weapons.

I would sooner suspect a gang relation to the case you mentioned before ANY connection to the Parkhill murders.

no doubt EH?

Does anyone remember DG's height? I thought I read he was 5'4, I checked the wanted poster pic I posted but the text is too small and I can't tell if it says 160cm or 180cm. Nothing of relevance really, just curious if he's 5'4, as then he'd have quite the challenge to overtake AL.

180cm's or 5' 11" for us imperial minded ones

I have only recently heard about the "Mr. Big" controversy. The confessions were played on the show and I would speculate that if the men felt their safety would be in jeopardy by not confessing they would have offered a very straightforward confession. They seemed to be pretty relaxed and proud of the confession as it happened. My uneducated opinion is that they are guilty. Of course, the appeals were based on other interviews and testimony not being presented during the trial and only the confessions. That the jury relied on the confessions and that was all they needed but if other information and testimony was presented they would have had reasonable doubt. The one guy was not remorseful at all in his 2 hour statement before sentencing and his mannerisms were pretty odd. Dare I say... A younger version of a DG.

When I saw him via CCTV in court I estimated him to be about 5'6" or 5'7" and about 65kg.

Thanks stan, Google says 180cm=5'9, not that 2 inches *really* matters, so okay, not a smaller in stature man then.

Can't be right. He is definitely small in stature. Roughly my size in height and weight. I am 5'7" and 132 lbs

No challenge if the victims are asleep. I am sure must be 160 cm. Although I estimated him to be my height which would be about 171 cm

It seems that any story/crime out of Calgary is related to the DG case.

So considering the location, the guy just found it after not cutting the grass for two months or like other lazy Calgarian's he doesn't have sod (it's an odd trend in cowtown to just leave a lawn as dirt). If a machine gun was used, a suppressor may have been added to reduce noise.

On a serious note, believe it or not, but Parkhill is not exactly a quiet community when MacLeod is in full rush. People in that area seem to get desensitized to backfiring cars and Harleys and the constant whirr of traffic that common noises that startle most of us are brushed off as a Macleod thing.

Ha! Not such an 'out there' theory at all! Quick, quiet, and as I've recently found out...easy enough to get....but the cell phone? Traceable? Or a pay as you go thing I wonder? As far as the neighbors go...how many times have we heard people standing in their front windows watching a moving truck being loaded up at the neighbors, thinking they're moving...only to find out later it was a robbery. One thing I've noticed for sure is that generally people keep their heads down and mind their own business a lot! Another thing that's becoming increasingly popular is people setting off fireworks...some of those make staccato sounds too...I wouldn't know the difference.

I am reading it as 180cm and my math translator husband says that is 5'10 just shy of 6 feet.

I have been looking at the most wanted poster a few times today. That was quite the list of charges. I wonder who DG did his criminal deeds with back in the Richmond area. I wonder if he still had a property or hiding place he could access in BC. I believe it was 4 days before LE contacted him as POI. He could have made it out to the lower mainland and back easily. It was a long weekend so traffic would have been heavy but also a good time to blend in and keep the speed to a minimum. Hmmmm....

What's whacky about the guy unloading the clip after finding it, is that it is more whacky when you think "Did he unload in his backyard or transport it somewhere, unload, then transport it back home, then called the police?". Completely relevant to this thread in regards to sounds being ignored.

I asked this many moons ago (or at least two moons); who were DG's buyers and/or his fence for stolen goods? How did he connect with them on the Coast? Who is his point man in Alberta and B.C?

If he was making LSD, I can't see him heading off to Grateful Dead concerts to sell a sheet.

Though it could explain his oddness if he were the testing of his wares type.
