pass the Peak Freens please -- digestive creams.....please

do we have a list of directors for Winter Petroleum?

It's where he had property that he sold for $32,000 to prop up a company (Cherchill ??) that then went bankrupt.

So, Cherhill Resources was based in Alberta wasn't it? But AL sold a lot on Vancouver Island to prop up the company according to article below.

I don't get this though, they're worlds away. I would like to know where the lot is on Vancouver Island and who it was sold to and what for (to build a home, or business).

Someone posted this link the other day, who was it????! I can't remember! But thank you, whoever did, as it was an interesting look into what was happening with WP. No directors mentioned but mentions the President of WP, as well as a photo:

Very good question. Maybe one of his investors made a trade? Or it was his way to buy-in.

that would have been me -- I found it with regard to the wells they had ..... Rainbow & High River area
was hopeful we might have an idea of the directors....am guessing it was privately held never made it to IPO did it?

Digestive and cookie should not be used in the same sentence. Years ago in Burnaby, there was a grocery store that had a cafeteria, so someone came up with the brilliant idea to combine the two words and rename the place, wait for it, wait for it,,

The Grocerteria.

Not the greatest alignment of letters in my opinion. makes one scrunch their nose and squint like one does while cutting into under cooked liver coated in a far too pale gravy.

Back on subject,, the key director you can sleuth was part of Vecto,, I'm still trying to find Winterpet directors,, the CEO is easy enough to find but the board is a whole other thing.

Here is a couple names for Winter. I am debating paying the $8 to access bankruptcy info. from Industry Canada. I want to be sure it is not accessible already...

Duncan McCowan – Current: Director, Alberta Wind Energy Corporation
He is also Chairman and CEO of Winter Petroleum Ltd., a privately owned exploration company.

Marek Kozera COO at Winter Petroleum

Here is an article that has me miffed today:
http://news.nationalpost.com/2014/0...in-bid-to-find-him-his-wife-and-his-grandson/

The person who says he hasn't spoken to AL in 3 years seems to know of AL's current plans. I don't believe they have not spoken in 3 years and when I google him I would not count on him being a reliable source.

The person I am miffed about is in the NP article. Initials BC.

I paid the $6. I posted all the info that came up... it was not much. I think it is in the last thread.

from the timeline:

1994 AL’s company ACL Resources Ltd went bankrupt after lending a large amount of money to Cherhill Resources. As a majority owner of Cherhill Resources, AL sold a Vancouver Island property for $32,000 to prop up the company. AL was sued (date unknown) by Harris N. Hanson claiming “material misrepresentations” by AL that resulted in Hanson advancing $25,000 to Cherhill Resources. Cherhill went bankrupt and ACL Resources was unable to pay Revenue Canada. (Dates unknown .. AL was also employed by and offered options to purchase shares in Granisko Resources Inc., which also subsequently went bankrupt.)

Thanks LL, I was just reading through the article and it clicked just now who you were talking about but you posted the answer before I had time to edit my question out, lol, you're quick!

I remember you posted about the civil cases, but somehow I missed the reasons for the charges? I'll have to go back, don't know how in the world I missed that! I've been wondering about those too. Duh me.

No worries! There was no explanation for the charges.. just the names. I will PM you tomorrow what I saved. I used to go to bed at 10:30. Since this forum I am up past midnight, not good for my beauty sleep!

The key on the bankruptcy or the fact that WP was known to be going into the tank has a lot to do with the date the house was put up for sale. In fact if WP was tanking prior to Thanksgiving of 2013 and this was brought up at the dinner where DG was distant, might explain WHY DG was distant. Thanksgiving is a forced family get together, not always something looked forward to, ALjr brings up WP going down in a round about way and DG goes inward.

However that's pure speculation but does give rise to a long stewed plan by DG, BUT; there are many other players in regards to the bankruptcy and they aint small potato people. It also gives insight as to why someone is planning a very hasty retirement.

A quick note on entrepreneurs/inventors,, though some may be long in the tooth as it were, they rarely stop thinking, tinkering, inventing,, it's not a career with a set time to stop, it falls into more a way of life not of career.

I am most curious about the choice of the name 'Winter' -- has been a name associated with O & G in 1980's

The Alberta Venture article interview about WP that newone posted was back from 2011 and in the article I get the impression it wasn't doing so great even then, it's not a very optimistic, confident sounding business in the article, but maybe that's how I read it knowing it's fate:

"Winter once had plans to sell to an energy trust were scuttled when the federal government removed the tax advantages."

One of the president's answers:

"For 2011, I’d say it’s pretty dismal. That’s kind of an understatement. I believe gas will ultimately turn around and when it does, I think it will be fairly quickly. It’s going to be two or three years, it certainly won’t be this year, that’s for sure. We’re just really hunkering down. We’re spending no capital for finding new reserves or anything. We’re just doing it for ‘plumbing’ issues as we say. We’ve got costs and equipment."
