Given the Liknes surname doesn't show related to any of those sites other than Alvin Liknes / Winter Petroleum, why do you suggest any other family member is affiliated with any of those companies?

Is Winter Petroleum not one of the companies mentioned? And was AL not part of Winter Petroluem? And, did AL do business with any of his family? Maybe, maybe not? That's why.

The date on the 3rd homicide on the crime map states September 14/14 at 11:30 am. Is this another unrelated homicide, or is this the date that the 3rd victim of the NO/AL/KL event was entered into the stat? I am obviously confused.

Interesting article.
Of course they don't want 'mud on their faces' if they were responsible for monitoring this guy's activities, dropped the ball and it resulted in a murder.
If that's what happened, I'm really disappointed that our federal policing agency doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to put their hand up and say "we screwed up". Why lie and cover up? Innocent people get hurt that way.
Of course, we don't know what actually happened here, that's just my general opinion of this kind of thing.

Sure ... if you re-read Lala's post, it was other companies with no known affiliation to AL that were being updated July 22, not Winter Petroleum.

ETA: IMO, that's like saying if Canadian Tire and Walmart appear linked to the same domain, they are owned or run by the same people.

Don't know what that reporter has their knickers in a knot over ... the guy was arrested and appeared before a Justice of the Peace. A JP can issue a PB (probably at the request of a lawyer), and it would seem the PB (if an actual PB was issued) was in place only from the time he was arrested until he appeared in court and was formally charged.

The RCMP (and other LE) don't name an arrested person until they have been formally charged (just as they did not identify DG until he was formally charged):

Why would there have been a publication ban issued to the accused's Defence Lawyer when a public notice was issued by the RCMP on June 19th regarding the release of a high-risk sex offender in the area? Why would he need to be kept secret? It seems it should be the other way around. IMO

Sorry that post was relative to a search being done on the sale of a property by AL to shore up Cherhill Resources a company he owned.

I suppose there would have been some checks and balances put in place for his monitoring. In that case, I'm sure that they will have record of the monitoring. Most criminals will likely find a way around any restrictions, though. He doesn't sound like your garden-variety small time ...he's pretty scary...their monitoring should have been topnotch. You don't have to do much out here to get an ankle bracelet slapped on...assault will pretty much do it. 24 hour surveillance I believe.

Because any PB issued by the judiciary overrides LE. WRT the public notice about a sex-offender after their release, LE has the authority to issue a notice in the interest of public safety. When a person is in custody, there is no concern wrt public safety.

The creep had served his full sentence, so LEO can't slap an ankle bracelet on him just because they don't like him. Had the courts ordered life-time monitoring with a bracelet, would be a different story (until the creep cut it off or course).

Even if they had a car sitting in front of the guy's house 24/7, he could always slip out a back door

So yeah ... just another day, another creepy SOB on the street to re-offend by (allegedly ) killing a young girl who was in the prime of her life.

Yes, I think it was because of the term "publication ban". Is that how LE would refer to it under usual circumstances?

I think it could be linked to KL's web marketing. Have to keep looking for a connection. It is available for anyone to work thru as well. The search for Winter connects to the web page I believe.

True but if an offender is a high-risk can't they resort to tunnel-vision and follow his movements to catch him on a parole violation before this kind of tragedy happens? I bet it wouldn't have taken very long. IMO.

Also, Check that it is Parkhill not Parkdale, select homicide, past 6 months, and zoom in on the map. It is 2. When you first look at the number it says 8 which maybe some see as a 3. If you zoom in it is a 2 for that street.

Oh my how traumatic! That's so sad! That must've been tough.

I might be remembering wrong, but didn't the mover guy who was interviewed say they were cleaning the walls? Maybe I only assumed walls, will try to find article.

If walls, I take it as someone injured while standing depending where it was on the walls. I'm curious if it was walls if it's plural (wall or walls). If plural I take that as more than one person injured or whomever was injured was mobile or moving. I also think more velocity or spatter then if it is walls. And I also think this could've been in a common area if mover saw it. JMO.

I never quite understood that comment about the wall appearing to be cleaned. If it was cleaned properly how would you know it has been cleaned? If a trauma clean-up crew was sent in to remove carpet and scrub walls I would think the walls would show no signs of blood or streaks from being cleaned. I wonder how he could tell the walls were cleaned? Maybe a picture was removed from the wall and he saw the discoloration in the paint compared to the painted wall behind a picture?

ETA: it was extremely traumatizing and handled poorly and I learned a valuable lesson about crowds witnessing an accident. It is this... If you witness an accident and see people on their phones do not assume they have called it in. Always make the call yourself. 911 won't mind.

Yes, I must clarify AL/KL's names are not linked to the sites, only M.Smith from Panama. I only posted because of the coincidences of information and might not be related at all.
