I think he said "there was some cleaning on the wall". I'm not sure, but does he sound like he may speak another language? Maybe he meant the walls were being cleaned. Which, if the property is being vacated would make sense. I wonder what possessed the moving company employee to ask the neighbor if he wanted to come in and take a look? That's just kind of weird. IMO

I think the neighbour stopped by and asked a question or made small talk and maybe the house was empty at this point and maybe the mover had no idea what happened at the house or didn't think anything of letting someone take a peak into the home. I suspect the neighbour was being watchful that day because I doubt the reporter was at the house at the very same time that the mover and neighbour were. He was hard to understand. I find it a strange report.

Here is the interview with the man who took a peak in the house. Thanks LoriMca for posting it.

ETA... Why didn't the reporter ask this guy a few questions to clarify his statement? Is that a no-no?

I dunno....if that one reporter during the 'perp walk' could do what she did *it was quite uncomfortable to watch IMO*....
Why a reporter on the street talking to neighbours couldn't ask more questions....I have NO idea....I would have been asking tons....but I'm nosey so....
I don't know if there are 'rules'? It says in the interview about the rug being up too...something along those lines...
I wish we knew too...who 'the man' was that let this guy in the house.....was it a hired mover? was it a cleaner? was it a friend or family member? It doesn't say 'who' the guy was...
A little nervy IMO to let some stranger into a private home ...especially under the circumstances ...

Even the rug comment is strange. A rug could be a large throw rug. Carpet is what most call a product that is permanently fixed to the floor and would have to be torn up. That would be quite a job if it was in the main space. Maybe they had hardwood floors and the rug was rolled up to be moved into storage. It sounded like it was the movers who let him in. It was a pretty unprofessional segment by the news.

Something was up, and I'm sure that in Airdrie country, 3 Black Suburbans driving like that isn't common.

Perhaps our journalist friends will investigate.

This could be a break.

It sure could be a break, sounds heavy duty. I haven't found anything in MSM and I checked the Alberta Police Report website and nothing. So if it's anything, it's being kept quiet.

ETA - Oops! I did a repeat of LoisLane's info, sorry catching up on posts!

Somehow, when I read that article in which the neighbour was quoted.. I didn't think it was a 'moving company' that was moving the stuff out, I somehow automatically got the impession it was a member of the family who had rented a truck or something, or a friend of the family, or someone more closely involved than just a moving company. JMOO. I think it was just the statement when he quoted the 'mover' as saying
"The reason he was here, in his words, were the sale didn’t go that well and he was moving this stuff out.”
It just struck me as coming from someone more closely involved.

I think he said "there was some cleaning on the wall". I'm not sure, but does he sound like he may speak another language? Maybe he meant the walls were being cleaned. Septic beds or holding tanks that the SOB had access to should be checked.

God, I'm just so p.o. How dare he destroy those lives, and forever alter and break the hearts of all those loved ones?

I'm right along with you Wondergirl, PO'd is right! I get very mad and upset thinking about it, and very sad.

Whenever I look at my little one, the thought of someone playing god with her life and deciding her fate like someone did to NO makes me sick…How someone could do anything to harm a child is beyond me. Murder is bad enough all around, but to involve children should just not happen in this world.

Thanks LoriMcA and LL for the post. I definitely needed a refresh on the info, as I had remembered it wrong. So one wall and the carpet were probably marked with blood somehow by the sounds of it.

I could see it if..... the news reporter came to the scene sometime later, saw the neighbour out nosin around, went to talk to him, the guy told the repoter about his visit with 'the mover'.. and.. news reporter is grilling him.. 'well what did you see, what did you notice'.. and him saying.. what he said.. because that is all there was to notice at that point? He may have known from the past that there used to be a rug present.. and G only knows what he meant by the 'cleaning on the wall' comment.. and prob by that point, there was nothing to see, so whoever 'the mover' was, didn't care that the neighbour went in to have a look?

Aren't septic beds rather shallow? Maybe not, but somehow that's what I had thought... but doesn't really make sense when I think about it.. where is Stan?

Septic beds or holding tanks that the SOB had access to should be checked.

Me and my coincidences….

Am I assuming too much by thinking there was recently a package of disclosure handed over to the defence, and then now there's three of these dark SVUs cruising to Airdrie. Seems like interesting timing or just a coincidence! Sorry, I must stop trying to link all these coincidences….

  • #913
I think the disclosure was handed over in advance of DG's latest court appearance.. sometime between mid August and.. whenever, but long enough before his mid september cout date that the defence had a chance to look it over, so I don't think it was at all 'recent'.. unless you know of another news report stating that more had been handed over...

I did however read an interesting (to me, anyway!) article today about Airdre... I will post..

An article about CH in Canmore about saying good bye and the healing process:

" “Everyone got wrapped up in that story and it went away, but I think the public deserves to know that the family has had the opportunity to say goodbye properly. “They don’t need to know what happened, but they need to know we have come to some peace and are moving forward.”"

"Hodgins also started a trust fund at CIBC across the country in the name of Super Heroes Are Real for the Liknes/O’Brien family. The Liknes’ had a large family with six children and 12 grandchildren.

She said the effort is to support the grandchildren in the family in the future and she would like to see one million Canadians donate $1 each.
" (BBM)

Nice article, but the money specifics at the end are a bit tacky. JMO.

Does anyone know what the current harvest activity is like in Airdrie right now? Are they cultivating?

Most farmers are trying to get harvest done. The crop is either swathed ahead and then combined or the combine has a straight cut header on it and you go into a standing crop and it cuts and combines all in one. A lot of farmers don't cultivate any more but spray the fields for weeds when the crop is off. Some bale the straw and some chop and spread it with the combine. With cultivating you lose moisture and spraying will kill the weeds and conserve moisture. But farmers are definitely busy with harvest at this time.

I haven't seen anything on the news on the three black Suburbans. They had inside flashing lights, not a light bar on top. I just wonder where they were going and what they were up to.

Here I was, thinking Airdre was some little country hick town? haha
This article just surprised me, and I found it interesting..

Airdrie RCMP welcomes new head of General Investigative Section

....

While working with Red Deer’s street team, Dahl said he was able to become proficient at developing confidential informants, an expertise he plans to bring to Airdrie.

“Something that I’ve done throughout my career is cultivation of confidential informants and building criminal intelligence that we can actually follow up on,” he explained. “It has to do with (conducting) proactive investigations, instead of being reactive. Those are always the best type of investigations because we can actually deal with crimes that we can prevent.”

Dahl said Airdrie already has a confidential informant program that he plans to build and expand.

Inspector Gordon Sage, who commands the Airdrie detachment, said Dahl will be a great addition.

“He comes from one of the Federal organized crime teams that focused a lot on large drug units so he has a massive amount of experience with organized crime and the drug world,” Sage said. “He also has experience in our GIS section so he comes with a wealth of experience that’s going to help Airdrie.”

I am with you! They were still waiting for more results and evidence to be handed over, and maybe it was enough that DG gave in. I also think they could be following up on leads still or maybe the Garlands harvested and discovered something. Or maybe it is not related at all. I am very anxious.

You know your farming! Thanks! Maybe the cars were for political figures? Was the PM in town?

Wishful thinking perhaps, but sure would be great if the disclosure todate was so convincing that KR could talk the accused into giving up the location of bodies in order to broker a deal on reduced sentencing.

Yeah, you're probably right about the disclosure, I'm not sure. I was just reading this article and it made me think that KR had just gotten through a large amount (maybe 'the gist' of it) when he was quoted on Sept. 17 which wasn't too long ago (KR quote below)

“We’ve been through a large bulk of it, but I understand there’s still a lot more that’s going to come. I understand that we won’t have full disclosure until sometime later in November, early December,” Ross said on Sept.17.

My hypothetical thinking was if KR maybe got the gist (or the sinker for his client) of evidence and relayed this info to DG, maybe DG's been sitting on this info the last week knowing there's a lot against him and maybe decided to say where they were in Airdrie. But maybe the caravan of SVUs in Airdrie was nothing more than a quiet little drug bust or something. I guess I'm wishfully thinking they were found.
