To add to the initial AA discussion about AL and only NO being mentioned and not KL, funny thing is, the link below was published July 1st (same day as AA) and oddly there's only photos of NO and AL here too.

So it wasn't only just the AA that mentioned only the two, but also the Calgary Police Service NewsRoom release did also in a round about way (why no photo of KL??). I get they come from the same source and both are released by police, but still odd that an oversight would be make in two media releases.

**However there is this snippet in the text: 'Photos of all three missing persons are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.' But still no photo on main release which is strange.

ETA - on the very first release on June 30th there is photos of all three, but on the next release I mentioned above only NO/AL… Freudian slip?
Below is the link to the first police release from June 30th

I added the link after I posted and you already read it but here it is:
http://www.leaderpost.com/Grandparents+mourned+after+summer+tears/10245307/story.html

CH is mentioned in the article of having attended the memorial, I didn't see anything about her that evening at Parkhill.

But CH did mention in her TV news segment how much time she spent at the Parkhill home (IIRC), so you'd think she would've stayed there since coming in from out of town, but again - no furniture/bedding. So CH might've stayed in a local hotel maybe? Or is Canmore a drive one would do to get back home that night?

Thanks for the link. I recall something more along the lines of the hug session earlier in the disappearance and I think it came from CH. I am in the process of organizing articles so I will come across it or what I think I read anyway.

Canmore is around an hour for driving so it is not necessary to make hotel arrangements. I am sure that the L's would have hosted and CH would accept. CH calls their relationship "sisters by choice".

This kind of error upsets me. The media outlets could not issue the AA out to the public properly. If you look at the AA website the information includes all 3 people. It also includes the updates as they came in.

I get it. The objective is to take the evidence, or facts of the case, and find some alternate explanation. The green truck is of no interest to police ... perhaps a diversion. The 4x4 fence posts are not fence posts, they're part of an invisible gate that is big enough for a vehicle to drive through. It's easier for a criminal to remove a section of a fence and drive a vehicle onto the back lawn than to remove bodies from a crime scene via a door ... except, perhaps the bodies weren't removed. Perhaps the bodies are still at the crime scene. Maybe someone, not the chemist from Airdrie, but someone else with soap making materials, made the bodies disappear in Parkhill. When the homeowners move into the Parkhill house, maybe they'll find the bodies.

Hilarious, thanks for the comic relief! :)

A few things that have been on my mind....& questions...
Do we know for sure that the youngest son...JL lived away from the Parkhill home? IIRC he's just graduated uni? Did he live at home & move out after completion...*only asking because if he was going to school in Calgary it would be economical...more feasible to live at home...at least my 2 did so..I'm assuming here... JMOO*

Assuming JL lived at home ....& assuming it's DG who did this crime...how did he know he wouldn't have 3 adults to deal with....rather than 2...
Or...through the family grapevine did he hear/know that JL was no longer living there?
I would assume ...again....he knew there would only be 2 adults...we know NO was 'not supposed to be there'...
IMO...big enough risk taking on 2 adults...but 3?
If someone can verify whether JL lived there or did not *how recent if he moved out?*...that would clear that question up...

This is part of the last media release on the Calgary Police Service NewsRoom, they say, the case is now before the courts.

I thought it was interesting that they mention their search is 'intelligence driven'. I think we discussed this before though on WS, but to me that sounds like tracing information (digital? paper?), rather than physical materials.

"Investigators have a 30-day search plan in effect that is intelligence driven, which cannot be shared outside of law enforcement in order to protect the integrity of the investigation. We are systematically searching locations that have a high likelihood of locating evidence utilizing officers from the CPS, RCMP and provincially sanctioned civilian search organizations. The Service has and will continue to dedicate as many resources as necessary to complete what has become a highly sensitive, and complex, investigation." (BBM)

The first June 30th AA does mention all 3 BUT also says 'Nathan may be in the company of his grandfather Alvin Liknes, a white male, 6 feet tall, 200 lbs with grey and blond hair, black shorts. Then mentions KL after that….(BBM)

I found a link for BC, Canada. I am not sure if you are referring to an American standard.
Basically there is no exact period of time, it involves certain factors. All of which I think have been covered by LE and possibly signed off by a coroner on a death certificate.

http://www.pssg.gov.bc.ca/coroners/reports/docs/declaration-death-missing-person.pdf

Before you referenced only financial activity. The point being that in order to be declared dead, there has to be a lot more evidence than no financial activity for two weeks.

JL recently posted a photo on his FB and there's a comment about someone sleeping on the couch, I assumed roommate? Also he might live with her GF?

I know it does sound leading. But KL is in the very next sentence. When I read it over a few times with that in mind I thought that by saying "May be with" that could mean they were certain NO and KL were together.

ETA: Maybe JO wasn't sure if AL may have gone out again that night or early in the morning, maybe there was a slight chance KL and NO were alone.

Hello everyone. My first post, but I have been with you (as a reader and without an account here) from the very, very beginning.

I have two small things on my mind, both regarding the green truck. First thing, and this is super small but popped to my head a while back, regarding the missing mirror on the truck that has been discussed a couple of times - could the missing mirror be the rearview mirror inside the truck? I know that several WS-ers have looked at the truck pics and came away with the thought that the side mirror looks to be intact.

Second thing - and this one likely means nothing but has been driving me crazy for while now - can everyone think back to the first release of the info and pics of the truck? I am 100% positive that there were two pictures released: one with the truck going by a parked white car and one showing the truck going by a black parked car. The second picture, with the black parked car, seems to have completely disappeared from existence. I personally shared both pictures on my Facebook and my Twitter accounts immediately on seeing them. I looked at them many times, and at the parked vehicles. The picture with the black car has absolutely been wiped from everywhere ... I've searched and searched. Does anyone else remember the second picture? Am I losing my marbles?

Right! I did not back up that exact example/sentence but the first part is correct. I will find it and keep you posted.

Presumption of death
3 (1) If, on the application of an interested person under the Supreme Court Civil Rules, the court is satisfied that

(a) a person has been absent and not heard of or from by the applicant, or to the knowledge of the applicant by any other person, since a day named,

(b) the applicant has no reason to believe that the person is living, and

(c) reasonable grounds exist for supposing that the person is dead,

the court may make an order declaring that the person is presumed to be dead for all purposes, or for those purposes only as are specified in the order.

(2) An order made under subsection (1) must state the date on which the person is presumed to have died.

(3) Any interested person may, with leave of the court, apply to the court for an order to vary, amend, confirm or revoke an order made under subsection (1).

(4) An order, or a certified copy of an order, declaring that a person is presumed to be dead for all purposes or for the purposes specified in the order, is proof of death in all matters requiring proof of death for those purposes.

(5) The registrar of the court must forward to the registrar general under the Vital Statistics Act an order made under subsection (1) or (3) within 30 days of the entry of the order.

I saw that too....& he very well could be...

I was just wondering ...if it 'is' DG...& let's say JL did live at home...or it wasn't common knowledge that he'd moved out.....that means DG went in thinking he could have 3 adults to deal with...

Or....if JL lived away from home...maybe it had been since high school & everybody knew that so DG knew there would only be AL & KL.....I just wondered if anyone knew for sure he did not live there :)

I recall seeing something about that too...somewhere.....my brain isn't telling me right now where I read it ...but...yeah ;)

Welcome!! Good observations you made….I wasn't one to really debate the mirrors on the truck personally, but the point you make about the rearview one is a very good one! I'm sure someone else here will answer you about that.

The two photos of the truck has been debated and IIRC, others mentioned they swear there were two photos, so you're definitely not losing your marbles! :)

I wonder if the black car photo reveals something relevant? Maybe something in the back of the truck? Or maybe there's relevance to the black car even? What a good memory you have to remember the black car. I'm going to try to find the mysterious (if existing) 2nd photo, now I'm very curious.

This was mentioned somewhere on here early on....that someone saw 2 pics.....if you have the second that would be awesome to compare it! :)

btw....:welcome:

Yeah, having 3 adult persons would've been very trying, JL must've been living away from home. Maybe with his parents leaving town he only recently left home for the first time even. Poor kid, another victim in all this. So many victims...
