The side mark wasn't actually there prior to LE doing their investigation. There was a perfect shot of that 'garage-door-opener' in one of the videos I came across a few days ago, which was from early in the case. Unfortunately at the time, I did not know how to grab a picture from the video, but I asked if everyone else had seen it. I believe that now, in the picture you have posted, that is all marked up with whatever it is that LE puts on to try to get prints, or determine if something is a certain substance. Originally, before LE touched it, it wasn't messed up there, however, underneath the opener, there were what looked to be definite streams of blood. In fact, it took my breath away when I saw it. If anyone knows which video that was shown in, please let me know and I'll grab a photo of it now that I know how to do it. I have tried searching back for that, and I can't find it now :(
Is this the video you were looking for?

No Slebby, but thank you SO much for seeing if you could locate it. the one I saw did a closeup shot on that area, and from memory, the area looked normal, except for underneath the opener mechanism, where it appeared to be dark-red, blood-colored, thick streaks. It looked to me like it was filmed before the area was examined with the purple stuff. The streaks didn't look purple to me at all, and there was no question in my mind at the time as to what it was. It was definitely in a video, and I thought to myself as I watched it, that there were also other things I had not seen/heard before within that same video. I had it open, with a pile of other browsers opened to various places, and at some point I closed them all, probably when my computer started misbehaving. I should have bookmarked it, but I haven't done that for so long, I just didn't think of it, as I had been trying and trying to figure out how to get a photo out of a video.

Add: I also went back to my history, but there is sooo much, and I'm not sure exactly which day it was, but I think according to the post I made, that it was the 8th or 7th of October that I viewed it. Does anyone know a way to filter history to only show 'videos watched'? That would help to narrow it down somewhat.

I would like to point out that in this video it shows LE taking a photograph from the sidewalk at the edge of the L. property aiming at across the street (possibly the home or a vehicle parked across the street or a side entry leading thru another property) That is the house that was up for sale, possibly vacant, and belonging to JL's girlfriend's mother.

I found the picture. You can see the stain on the garage really clearly hear between LE's heads. I think the picture near the bottom of the garage was right below this stain. To me it looks like someone must have been bleeding quite a bit and was leaned against the door to prop them up.
Again I apologize if this was said but I haven't been able to get this picture out of my head since the beginning.

I had thought it looked more like the size of hand, like for someone to weight-bear themselves with their hand against the garage door, but I'm not sure now.

Here is the pic that shows the mud runs the whole length of the truck.

Great photos! Is it just me or do the tires look spotless and clean for a muddy truck? Did someone clean the tires, but forgot to clean the body?

Hhmmm, very interesting, I'll have to watch this video when I get to my laptop at home. Vacant houses, easy to gain access to for sure.

Asked my go-too forensic helper, my son, and he said (without seeing the pictures), that the purple marks are most likely magnetic fingerprint powder. If it was blood sprayed with luminal, we wouldn't be able to see the glowing blue markings except under black light or in a darkened room. The "glow" only lasts about thirty seconds.

Hope this helps.

Thanks news.talk, hopefully your son told you that off the record ;)

That makes sense, fingerprints on the garage door opener and I thought the oval-like shape on garage door resembled a hand print, so might be. Maybe they even got prints somehow to connect the assailant to the crime scene.

He's just a student studying to become a forensic tech. So, no worries with any potential conflict of interest.

Yes, it makes sense. The Luminol is applied and viewed in the dark to find a glow. Fingerprint powder make more sense. Thanks so much!

This is an interesting video about luminol; I think I am getting that it can still detect even after years? and also, the reaction is different between blood and bleach, so it's easy to tell which it 'was'. Shows a shoe print at the end which is covered in blood it seems, even though it was not visible to the naked eye? Weird!

That info matches up with the video info I just posted.. except I wasn't getting that the reaction to the blood Luminol exposes, would disappear in a few seconds. In any case, if it is magnetic fingerprint powder that is all over everywhere, then that would not account for the 'streaks of blood' underneath the garage-door-opener-device... but.. it would only stand to reason that if there were blood streaks underneath that equipment, it could be because someone's prints were trying to access the panel.

Is this the spot in the interview Lois? That is actually from across the street looking towards the L's...
Just before this in the video you see the police vehicle in the driveway of the house then they pan just down the street & then this guy is photographing.....

Here is a link from a FBI source - it has the time it glows and other info you might find interesting.

I know there are other blood and body fluid detection products other than Luminol *that is used with black light so that wouldn't be used here being out in the daylight*...Blue Star is another that is quite similar to Luminol...
I know there is iodine spray & ninhydrin...among others...
Could you ask your son about sprays in particular? I don't know if this would be powder....in the picture there are definite remnants of a spray of some kind...

It would be awesome if we could find out what the spray product might be...thanks newstalk! :)

I texted him and he sent me this "easy to understand" site (in other words, for dummy mummies). He said, without seeing it up close, all he can guess is that if it is a liquid, it may be Ninhydrin spray.

"Ninhydrin*- Another common method of fingerprint detection is the use of ninhydrin. This is sprayed, swabbed or dripped onto the surface. Ninhydrin reacts with the amino acids in the prints, forming a purple or pink compound."

Are you referring to the garage security box?

There are much closer pics that I posted way back when, if you want to see more detail
