It would be great if everyone could show their manners! What is meant by, 'what's the fixation on a retired police officer?'? And coming from the same person who distracted the train of thought and brought up that the man 'screwed up', was 'seduced', and made a 'stupid move - a mistake'. The conversation went from there. The post from the original mentioner of his name was actually in regard to the case at hand! It is unfair to raise something and then make accusations of fixation when responded to! Must we be so argumentative here? It almost feels like some posters *try* to get a rise out of people by saying certain things, and then blaming responders for the very reaction that would surely be anticipated!

Former Police Chief Hanson totally screwed up when he was seduced by the Conservative Party and given an appointed position. Hanson was not elected after his appointment ... stupid move - a mistake.
<modsnip>
Is that right?? I hadn't heard that part about Hanson not being elected after his appointment?? Wow! So what is the man doing now then??
Otto... where are you getting this info regarding bodies being burned.. and a pit on the south side of the house??? I hadn't heard that before? I don't remember conversation in here about that before?? Is there a link or something?

True enough. What a kick in the head that must be.
I'm sorry, I find that story confusing. Was this a provincial election where Hanson was a provincial candidate in one of the Calgary ridings? And the NDP is now in power in the province of Alberta for the next 4 years? Oh wow, my deepest sympathies to all of you Calgarians out there.
What's the fixation on a retired police officer?
Hanson was appointed in one of Calgary's ridings shortly before an election (he abruptly resigned in the middle of a police contract) ~ Jim Prentice seduced Hanson to become a politician (Hanson was foolish to follow Prentice). It appears to be a floor crossing from Police Chief to Politician. After the floor crossing, Hanson was not elected. That was the end of his political career, and the end of his policing career.
The NDP is running Alberta, but that doesn't mean they run the country's oil valves. Premier Christie, in BC, has just approved an oil refinery in BC. The Indians are refusing land rights, thankfully. Typically Canada ships oil processing out of the country to reduce environmental risks and consequences. Western Canada appears to be run by wolves in sheep's clothing.
