"Taking notes". Michael Rafferty did the same thing during his trial, didn't he?

The accused are often instructed to do so. I was at his Trial twice. He did not sit at the Defense table. He was off to the right in a box with plexi glass. Not to say he didn't ever take notes but the 2 days I attended he just stared straight ahead.

I had no clue the trial was starting today, until I went on CBC.

Seeing Nathan, Alvin and Kathy's faces again up close made my heart and stomach lurch, and I can't even imagine the pain of their families and loved ones.

Having our suspicions confirmed about the patent envy, and the confirmation of their bodies at his farm, makes me just seeth with anger and this horrific loss of life because of a disturbed maniac.

I will be following through to the end to see justice done.

May God give all involved the strength to continue in light of the gruesome facts to come.

Well if Garland was such an intense researcher (how to kill without emotion), he sure cr@pped the bed by missing that you can't fully burn bodies in a burn barrel.

Indeed! You may recall my theory was that he bludgeoned them in their beds, put them in lye and then burned remains. His actions are even more horrifying than my hypotheses.

So they are saying he took them alive and killed them at the farm?? This is hard to wrap my head around. How did he subdue 2 adults and then take 3 severely injured people away? I don’t get the logistics of it all.

From the evidence that has now been made public they were attacked in their beds. Likely bludgeoned.

Just goes to show how hatred festers and turns to something like this. I can't imagine a hate so strong or deep or real that would culminate in the torture and murder of 3 people over something so petty.

To me, the hints about his exhaustive research, planning, purchasing, and the methods that he used, something else was going on with DG: a desire to act out extremely violent and sadistic fantasies that he'd perhaps been concealing his whole life. He happened to focus his hatred on AL (perhaps he envied him?), but in other circumstances, I think he'd have found some other victim.

There were also many long discussions from members convinced he didn't do it and that the police and prosecutors didn't have enough evidence, that the "puzzle pieces weren't fitting," etc . In fact, at one point, that was the dominant theme here, albeit after the majority of members had left and opted to wait for the trial to see the actual evidence.

It was in fact puzzling for some of us. The idea that all three were killed and removed from the home was not convincing. Now we know they were not killed in the home.
