So the only computer still in use with the hard drive intact was the old one that Patti owned and gave to DG back in 2008. The two newer computers both had the hard drives removed. Or was the Gateway computer older than the Sony? Which would mean that the hard drive may have been removed when it was no longer in use when DG got the Sony from Patti. So that one could have just been destroyed and thrown out/burned years ago. It appears the Acer was the newest and likely the one that the hard drive in the rafters came from.

Never even crossed my mind.

So it sounds like one hard drive from a computer was never recovered. That could be an interesting piece of information.

Edit: maybe not. It sounds like two hard drives were in the one computer. It could be possible that Douglas moved the hard drive from an old machine to the newer machine.

That is likely were the "petty grudge" statement came from. The Crown likely reviewed all the saved communications, saw the back and forth discussion and the amount of money owed and determined it was a petty situation.

I did find something DG posted way back in 2004. He was looking for something (manuals I think), posted on a blog type page with the handle "matt1" but he signed off as "Doug" and posted the above mentioned email address as a contact. I don't really know why some consider him "smart"...

I havent tried looking up any social media but I did try to find information about the accident that claimed the boys life and his sister.

There is little I was able to find out about the crash. I have been wondering if DG may have been involved in the accident maybe like a hit and run or something but I havent been able to find anything to support that theory.

There was the one statement that DG made claiming he was involved in a serious accident and I always wondered if maybe that was the accident he was talking about.

The boy was really young and I wonder if maybe he was riding a motorcycle because of his age I dont think he could have had a drivers license for a car. Motorcycle licenses I think you can get at an earlier age or maybe it was even a dirt bike and he may have been giving his sister a ride and had to cross a road or something.

Very little information to be found about what happened.

What I find very interesting is that Douglas would keep the identity of Matthew for so many years even after having been arrested previously. Also going as far as buying or receiving company stocks in the name of Matthew. Usually criminals will use multiple identities for illegal purposes but Doug only seems to have this one other identity. It makes me wonder if Douglas had a multiple personality/identity disorder.

@Hatfield - the crash of MH was discussed extensively here, and it has been determined that MH was at the wheel, had taken a car out despite not having a license. DG was in no way involved. He simply stole the boy's identity.
