Mohrbutter: high heat can cause DNA to degrade. Says her lab uses Eliminate to clean DNA, decontaminate; has heard of N-Erase.#Garland

There are a variety of products which can remove DNA from surfaces, says Mohrbutter. #Garland

The date of March 29, 2015 is odd. Why wouldn't have this been seized in the initial investigation? If it wasn't there then, why would a product such as this be needed after the investigation and who would have bought it and/or used it? Was DG giving orders from prison?

I think it's very unlikely the defense is slacking in hopes of Garland filing and ineffectual counsel motion. That would mean they're throwing themselves under a bus just to see this guy walk free. That would be illegal and evil. I think they just don't have a whole lot to object to. In Canada you see that sometimes - almost as if the Defense is just going through the motions, making sure everything is done correctly. I'm sure they know their client doesn't really stand a chance.

Thanks. This is my first Canada trial I have followed and it is very interesting about the differences as compared to US trials.

There is a lot I really like about the way Canada does things.
I especially like that the prosecution just presents evidence without personal opinions and let the jury decide what that evidence means to them.

That has been a refreshing change than what I'm used to seeing.

The prosecution and LE has done a fantastic job in this case and IMO I think they convicted him after yesterdays testimony. I don't even need to hear anymore as they have now convinced me that DG is guilty of the murders. His truck and video of 3 bodies on his farm. Thats plenty enough for me at this point.

Of course I will still follow along to make sure I see DG being lead away in handcuffs at the end. :)

Point to ponder on break. Anyone else find it crazy when Canada has a case it's so horrific? We don't have as much run of the mill as some other Countries do but man when we have a high profile case it's so heinous. Not meant to open a stats discussion. I think of Pickton, Bernardo, Williams, Rafferty etc. etc.
ETA- forgot Luka guy

Okay guys....remember back when this was new...the first few days of July 2014....the news sites were going nuts with videos...pictures....and they focused on the Garland acreage.....

Well....being as I am about saving EVERYTHING....*yes....I am a hoarder!!*....Well....I went looking in my case folder *yes...I have one for every thing I find interesting or follow on the internet.....it could be a true crime story....it could be crochet patterns.....*shrugs*.....

Anyways.......went hunting tonight....cuz so many images were familiar and I had remembered one film clip in particular...from the first days......

July 5th....Global had published an article about the acreage...and the long lines of LE searching side by side....the view from overhead was amazing......

Global made the mistake that day of putting up raw uncut footage that day.....a long video.....then they edited it for the news that night.......

I saw the raw first...and bookmarked as per usual for me.......well....you won't believe it....it's still online!

Found the link....and wow........we focused on those outbuildings back then because....SO DID Global...they follow the LE in their hazmat gear out to those buildings! Anyways.....if anyone is interested.....here is the video link......really good quality....was shocked it was still up there!

Is that his green truck we see? If so, the back seems to be loaded down with stuff. If DG stored things in the back of his truck, then I don't think he'd take it through a car wash. jmo

Thanks Bravo and thanks also for your reply to my other question. I remember we had discussions on other WS cases.

This has really been an amazing and fascinating case. It is also of course very sad for the victims and their families. We are extra witnesses to make sure they get justice.

3 diabolical murders. You betcha.
From what I understand about the Dangerous offender designation - there needs to be more than 1 - several, in fact, separate crimes that need to have been committed. Even though this is 3 murders, in regards to the DO designation - this is only considered 1. So he won't get that designation. That doesn't mean, however, that he'll be out on parole in 25.

Agree. You jogged my memory. Bernardo received DO but former Col. Williams did not. I'll see if I can find the explanation. Yet I do agree this killer will never see the light of day.

Behind the old machine shed near a topper appears to be an abandoned old wreck that's quite a bit older than the green Ford truck. Maybe that's what you're noticing?

It used to be called the "habitual offender" designation. If DG is convicted of these murders, he would not be considered a "habitual offender". Same with Army boy.

One the biggest differences is here in Canada either the Prosecution or the Defence can file appeals.

In the US iirc the State cannot.
